THE TIME IS NOWAttracted by the opportunities of the North, many want to join the Arctic “conversation”. In recent years, governments, NGOs, academic institutions and the like have set up countless bodies, conferences and workshops to further their interests in the Arctic. The time is now right for business voices to become a central part of the dialogue.

Development in the Arctic will largely depend on commercial decisions made by the international business community. In order to maintain our Arctic “license to operate” we must demonstrate our commitment to a responsible and sustainable development of the commercial opportunities.

With Arctic Business, an arena is now established for businesses to come together to take responsibility about the way forward.

The key to success in the Arctic is cooperation – working together, sharing knowledge, best practices and ideas for future prospects. Arctic Business does this by gathering players from across industries, companies and countries to solve the puzzle.

CULTUREON THE BEACH

ACTION-ORIENTEDDIALOGUE

All participants are invited to a dining experience that offers much more than networking and locally sourced food. Taking place at Sandhornøy beach, the evening event will utilise the facilities of the SALT initiative for arts, culture and the environment as the framework for a truly unique experience.

Optional activities will include fishing, attending concerts, saunas and experiencing art by internationally acclaimed artists.

Five workshops will cover cross-industry as well as industry specific challenges. The themes are:

• World trade: New global and regional trade routes

• Mining: Logistics in the Arctic

• Oil and gas: Exploration and the environment – optimum exploration with minimum risk through joint ventures

• Oil and gas: Production and systems integration – fast track from innovation to industry standards

• Seafood: The blue revolution – Arctic brands that support local production and processing

Attendance is by invitation only. Together with their teams, the top global business leaders from the opening session roundtable will each lead a workshop.
