The purpose of this essay is clear, however, the topic choice limited its success, as it was too broad to be addressed in 1500 words. At times the analysis is descriptive rather than analytical.

The musical concepts are addressed broadly through aural analysis and there is some attempt at transcription. Score excerpts are not provided and this weakens the depth of discussion of the concepts which are not integrated successfully into a comparison of the styles discussed.
