The Green Corridor is a proposal to replace the 2km railway lines with parks and connections from the south and north parts of the city which were separated by the railway lines. Other parts of the city are also re-developed to house feature architecture for a more sustainable city for the future.
Two Buildings proposed to be connected with the Green Corridor were the Faculty of Arts for university of Newcastle and The Civil Justice Cen-ter replacing the Newcastle Station. Energy parks were also proposed to create vibrant spaces which harnesses solar and wind energy to create re-usable energy.
The building is designed based on a sustainable concept with features such as open courtyard, shading devices, wall plants and natural lighting provided for every spaces throughout the building. The central courtyard allows light and ventilation to permeate through the building and creates an inner environment for the occupants
The feature is the spiral garden ramp which acts as a roof for the ground floor outdoor foyer. The ramp has seatings for students to relax while looking towards the sea on an elevated level. It is also has a grass floor as a mean of connecting the green corridor with the building.
