Two Walls Communications Studio I

The project brief instructed us to create two walls, with the site as the passage-way in between the architecture building and three other buildings. Our studio section, as a group collaborated together and built a site model. Then we each used the model to place our own wall designs. Then using Rhino3D, I created variations of my designs. As our campus is located in downtown Toronto, I focused my design on providing shelter and light for students.

St. Lawrence Pocket Park Design Studio I

Part of our communications studio was to design a pocket park, to transform a low traffic area into a more pedestrian friendly environment. The problem with this site was not bringing people into the park, but figuring out a way to allow people to not only walk through it, but have places where they can stay. This park design focuses on the idea of an “all around” park. A multi-use park for any time of the year.

Compact Cabin Design Studio I

Spanish Ship Bay is a small island located in Nova Scotia. Our project was to design a summer cabin is that is to be 12sq.m, including all living facilities. The Compact Cab in the winter is “closed” and can act as a storage, as it is only to be used during the summer that it is “open”, the cabin can expand, creating more living spaces. The curved areaof the cabin responds to the strong winds that affect the site, the shape allows the wind (ideally) to go over the cabin, creating a mica micro-climate on the deck.

Cabbagetown TheatreDesign Studio II

Given the theme of the “human body”. Our second semester project focuses oncreating a program related to the study of body movement. One of the tasks in studio was to create an Experiential Section; a section that shows how the user would experiance the building and how they would move from point A to point B. Taking account materality, light, and sizes of the spaces, the section tells the story of how the user would get from the sidewalk and intothe lobthe lobby, the underground and finally enter to the theatre.

Office 2020 Integration Studio I

Office of the Future was the theme of our project for the whole year. Located in Financial District in downtown Toronto, we had to design a futuristic office that looks at the problems office towers have now and the solutions that can be implemented. The first semester we looked at feasibility studies and site analysis. We each researched the ‘future office’ and looked at modularity, flexibility and changein the office layout that has been built presently. O20 is still a work in progress.

In the second semester we were more focused on design and buildingskin studies. Our section had to relook at the building manifesto andtry to relate the form with the interior function. While thinking about formwe also had to take into consideration tge sustainability and feasibilityof the design
