Back in 1978 Peter was working for DavidLyons, designer and contractor, when Davidwentonvacationforaweekandleftthetaskfor Pete to see what he could come up withforaclient. Peteclimbedalloverandcare-fullymeasured thehalfdozen largebouldersthatwereonthesiteanddrewupplansandel-evations.WhenDavidreturned,hiscommentwas,“Well,Iwouldn’thavedoneitlikethat,butwe’llseewhatthey(theclient)say.”Theylikedthedesign,andthat’sthewayitgotbuilt.Walkinthefrontdoorandthere’sahugeboul-der,halfinsidethehouse.Therewasabreeze-way deck under the living room, but a laterremodel filled in that deck and cut off the view ofChattanoogafromthepoolarea.It’sstillauniqueandfascinatinghomehalfwayupthesideofSignalMountain,TN.
