HVAC ADDENDUM
1. Refer to the specifications Section 15920-1, Part 1, General. Add the following clarification:
H. HVAC controls system equipment and related auxiliaries have been purchased by the Owner under a separate contract. The Mechanical Contractor is responsible for all coordination and installation of this equipment. The equipment proposal includes all low-voltage subcontractor labor, contractor oversight, engineering, equipment, software and tools needed to execute the scope of the work. Motorized dampers, actuators and similar items are to be provided by the BAS Contractor. All requirements shall be coordinated prior to bid with the BAS Contractor. All items not included by the BAS Contractor are the responsibility of the Mechanical Contractor.
2. Refer to the specifications Section 15710-3, Part 2.01. Clarification:
VRF System equipment has been purchased by the Owner under a separate contract. The Mechanical Contractor is responsible for all coordination and installation of this equipment. The Mechanical Contractor is responsible for installation and charging of the system, refrigerant, copper pipe/tubing, couplings, fittings and elbows, tubing insulation, drain lines, & wiring. Commissioning and testing of the installation shall be as required to obtain the Manufacturer’s 10-year warranty. The Installing Contractor shall attend and is responsible for all costs of attending a 3-day Mitsubishi VRF installation and service training session in Suwanee, GA before equipment can be delivered unless a current employee of Mechanical Contractor has completed the training and installation of the system within the last 18 months. All requirements shall be coordinated prior to bid with the VRF system supplier. All items not included by the BAS Contractor are the are responsibility of the Mechanical Contractor.
3. Refer to the specifications Section 15920 add the following requirement: All wiring and cable shall be in EMT conduit except conduit is not required above lift-out (lay-in) ceilings. “Whips” are unacceptable. Minimum conduit size shall be 3/4” and shall be provided above all hard (non-lay in) ceilings. Provide independent, minimum 2” wide, aluminum or rust resistant coated steel J-hook supports for all wiring not in conduit. Wiring supports shall be attached to the building structural system (not other trades’ supports, piping,

duct, ceiling suspension system, etc). Wiring, cabling, etc., shall be neatly bundled together and supported at no more than six (6) feet on center. Control conduit is specified in Electrical Division of the specifications and/or shown on electrical drawings. Minimum control conduit size shall be 3/4”. All control conduit, power wiring, relays, contactors, etc. for controls, which are not shown on the electrical drawings or specified in the Electrical Division of the specifications, shall be provided under this Section. Coordinate all requirements with the appropriate parties prior to bid. All thermostat and humidistat boxes shall be mounted 46” A.F.F. to the center of the box (ADA height). Where wall mounted CO2 Sensors are indicated, they shall be mounted 58” A.F.F to the center of the box. Electrical work performed under this Section shall conform to requirements set forth in the Electrical Division of the specifications.
4. Refer to the specifications Section 15920 add the following requirement:
Typical Split System Heat Pump Sequence of Operation:
UNIT ENABLE: When the network input enable switch is set to occupied, the control sequence shall be enabled. OCCUPIED MODE: The occupancy mode will be controlled via a network input. during occupied mode, the indoor and respective outdoor units will be started. The cooling and heating modes will be indexed to maintain the zone temperature setpoint. When the condensate float switch in the respective condensate drain or aux. drain pan float switch is in "alarm", the cooling control sequence will be disabled. Then the respective unit(s) shall be disabled, and an alarm shall be sent to the BAS operator console. UNOCCUPIED MODE: The unit will cycle on to maintain unoccupied zone setpoints during unoccupied periods. When the condensate float switch is in "alarm", the cooling control sequence will be disabled in the summer mode and an alarm shall be sent to the BAS operator console. Then the unit(s) will be disabled.
SEQUENCE OF OPERATION: Thermostat shall be used to control heating and cooling. Upon a call for the occupied schedule, the outside air damper shall open to its minimum scheduled outside air setpoint and the unit shall start. Upon unit shutdown, the motorized outside air damper shall close. Upon a call for the unoccupied schedule, the outside air damper shall remain closed and the unit shall start. Provide smoke detectors where shown on the plans. Wire the detectors to stop the unit upon smoke detection. Provide required interlocks, wiring, relays, etc., to stop the unit upon detection of smoke by the smoke detectors. AC-39 Additional Requirements: Demand Ventilation: Units shall be provided with factory furnished and installed demand ventilation controls via wall mounted carbon dioxide (CO2) sensor. Factory mounted controls shall modulate the motorized outside air damper to maintain a maximum of 800 PPM (adj.) CO2
concentration in the space as applicable. Upon a rise in CO2 concentration set point, the motorized outside air damper shall modulate open to its scheduled outside air requirement.

Upon satisfaction of the CO2 set point, the motorized damper shall return to the required position to provide a continuous minimum outside air stream as scheduled. Upon unit shutdown or during unoccupied setting, the outside air damper shall close. EDH AC-39 Duct Heater: Provide discharge air temperature sensor in the supply air duct and arrange as required to provide minimum discharge air temperature during winter operation of 95 degrees F.
