THE RUBIX LUXURY APARTMENT DESIGN OFFERS SOUTH-EAST QUEENSLAND A SET OF UNIQUE LIVABLE SPACES THAT RESPOND TO GROWING NEEDS FOR DENSIFICATION, AS WELL WORKING WITH THE CURRENT CLIMATE TO MAKE THE MOST OF PASSIVE DESIGN STRATEGIES. WITH LARGE OPERABLE WINDOW WALLS OCCUPANTS CAN BLEND THE OUTDOOR WITH INDOOR LIVING SPACES. THE COMPLEX ALSO FEATURES A GREENROOF HOST TO A SERIES OF BBQ AND SOCIAL AREAS KEY TO THE AUSTRALIAN LIFESTYLE.

THIS DESIGN PROJECT RESPONDS TO THE SITE CONDITIONS OF WOOLLOONGABA WITHIN BRISBANE CITY, WITH THE SPECIFIC GOAL OF INCREASING A SENSE OF COMMUNITIY AS A KEY CHARACTERISTIC. AS A RESULT THETHE PROPOSAL IS TO ACT AS A CATALYST FOR SOCIAL CHANGE, PARTICULARLY THROUFH COMMUNITY GARDENING AND FOR MARKET DEVELOPMENT.

ANOTHER GOAL IS TO RESPOND TO THE GLOBAL ISSUES AND EMBRACE A SUSTAINABLE APPROACHES THAT INTEGRATES OPEN LOOPED ENERGY AND WATER SYTEMS, PASSIVE DESIGN PRINCIPLES, AND WASTE RECYCLINGRECYCLING STRATEGIES THAT WORK IN COHESION.

BOOTHS DESIGNED TO EDUCATE PUBLIC ON BUILDING ACTIVITIES + PRINCIPLES. INCLUDE TV SCREEN / PROJECTOR WITHIN A LOCKABLE SPACE ON GROUND FLOOR.

LIGHTS TO THE FRONT SECTIONS

SLIDE FRAME BACKWARDS.

LIGHTS ARE NOW POSITIONED TO THE BACK SECTIONS ON THE FRAME

FRAME ROTATES DOWNWARDS ALONG THE INDICATED TRACK.

THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE GRID SPACING AND SLIDE BACK POSITION ARE THE SAME IN ORDER TO AVOIDE DAMAGE TO THE LIGHTS.

FRAME IS NOW IN VERTICAL POSITION AS A WALL CLOSING THE BOOTH AT NIGHT.

THE VINES GROW FROM A PLANTER BOX LOCATED AT THE REAR OF THE STRUCTURE, WHICH ALSO SWIVELS WITH GRAVITY AS THE FRAME IS ALTERED

FRAME IS NOW SLID DOWN INTO FINAL WALL POSITION.

PLANTER BOX IS NOW ALSO FULLY ROTATES.

IT IS EXPECTED BECAUSE THE PLANTS ARE VINES THAT THEY WILL BE FLEXIBLE ENOUGH TO WITHSTAND THE MOVEMENT.

THE LAYOUT FOR THE COMMUNITY GARDEN SPACES HAVE BEEN DESIGNED IN ORDER TO MAXIMISE NATURAL SUNLIGHT THAT ENTERS THE BUILDING DUE TO THE DOME SHAPE OF THE STRUCTURE.

TTHEY EACH HAVE AN ADJOINING STORAGE SPACE THAT ACTS AS A TRANSITION ZONE BETWEEN THEIR PERSONAL LOTS AND THE WIDER COMMUNITY. THIS PROVIDES LOCKAWAY SPACE FOR THEIR TOOLS AND TEMPORARY STORAGE FOR PRODUCE UNTIL IT CAN BE MOVED TO THE COMMUNITY FRIDGES OR STORAGE UNITS UNTIL IT CAN BE MOVED TO THE MARKETS AND STORES IF NEED BE.

TTHE COMMERCIAL MUSHROOM FARMS ARE ACCESSED BY WORKERS WHO ARE EMPLOYED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE FACILITY. THESE SPACES CAN LIKEWISE BE UTILISED FOR ALGAE FARMING AND OTHER SUITABLE PRODUCTS THAT DO NOT REQUIRE LARGE AMOUNTS OF NATURAL SUNLIGHT WITHIN THEIR ENCLOSED SPACES.

TTHE WORM FARMS ARE ALSO ACCESSED BY EMPLOYEES OF THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE FACILITY, HOWEVER THERE IS TO SOME EXTENT SOME ACCESS BY THE LARGER COMMUNITY BECAUSE OF THE NEED TO DISPOSE OF WASTE INTO THE WORM FARMS. TO THIS EXTENT SPECIFIC OPPERATIONS AND PROCEDURES WILL HAVE TO PUT IN PLACE IN TERMS OF BUILDING MANAGEMENT.

BBUILDING MANAGEMENT ALSO HAS FACILITIES WITHING THE BUILDING, WITH SEVERAL OFFICES LOCATED ON THE LOWER FLOORS. THIS WILL ALSO ALLOW FOR BETTER COMMUNICATION AND MORE PERSONAL RELATIONS WITH THE OCMMUNITY TO ENSURE A SOUND RUNNING OF THE ACTIVITIES.

SOLAR PANELS INTEGRATED INTO THE GLASS FACADE DOME SYSTEM COLLECT SOLAR ENERGY THAT IS THEN SUPPLIED TO THE REST OF THE BUILDING

WASTE FROM THE COMMUNITY GARDENS, PUBLIC RETAIL SECTORS AND EXTERNAL OFF-SITE LOCATIONS IS RETURNED TO THE ANAEROBIC DIGESTER WHICH IS THEN CONVERTED TO ENERGY FOR THE BUILDING, OR TO THE WORM FARMS.

PRODUCE IS GROWN LOCALLY ONSITE THAT IS THEN SOLD THROUGH THE GROUND LEVEL RETAIL SECTORE PROVIDING SELF-SUFFICIENT ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE COMMUNITY.

WATER IS COLLECTED BY THE DOME, FILTERED THROUGH THE FEATURE GUTTER CIRCUMFERENCING THE STRUCTURE, DOWN INTO WATER STORAGE WHICH IS THEN

PUMPED BACK UP INTO THE BUILDING FOR RE-USE.
