Sound absorber: ReaporExpanded Glass Granulate Description

The sound absorber for challenging environments.

Reapor was developed to maximize noise energy absorption, and resolves issues of fire, weather aging and contamination damage.

Reapor, by nature, is environmentally friendly using recycled glass as its core component.

They have a high sound absorption quality, a low thermal conductivity, a good chemical resistance, and they are easy to handle.

Simply maintained, constructed from recycled material, and VOC free, Reapor panels are easily fixed and worked.

Components

Reapor uses recycled glass as its core component, and by nature is sensitive to the environment. During manufacturing, the glass is processed to form expanded granules. Each granule acts as an acoustic absorber in its own right.

Through a heating process the granules are fused together to form a homogenous panel which creates a highly efficient acoustic absorber.

This then creates a panel where the granules and the sum of the whole panel work together to create a highly efficient acoustic absorber.

This process removes the need for binders leaving the product free from out-gassing, developing smoke in a fire and breakdown through binder failure, giving the product the highest non combustible fire rating.

A new porous sintered glass panel call Reapor was developed from recycled glass that offers high sound absorption and is fiber-free,rugged,non-combustible,

moisture resistant and can be used indoors or outdoors.

Function

Reapor has a wide range of applications where effective noise reduction is required in outdoor applications or indoor areas of high humidity or fire concerns. Its natural resistance to moisture ensures it will not significantly retain or absorb moisture, unlike traditional porous or open-cell materials.

Applications

Highway barriers,Gymnasiums, Subways and other transportation facilities, Convention Centers, Swimming pools, Schools, Firing Ranges, Power Stations,Offices, etc.

Application

Reapor panels are bonded using adhesive or mechanically fixed depending on the application and substrate. The panels can be machined and processed using standard wood working equipment and dust protection.

Reapor can be machined with standard saws, routers and drills. The panels can be attached by gluing or pre-drilling and bolting in place. Edges can be chamfered or butted together, as shown to the far right.

Reapor can also be mounted to one or two sides of a concrete wall an d used in traditional post and panel highway barrier construction.

Colors can also be applied forming interesting patterns. Reapor panels can be easily painted with water based paint, rendered for a seamless finish or routed to provide varying texture and shadowing effects.

Sound absorber: ReaporExpanded Glass Granulate Usage   • Resists weather, water and UV pollution over a extended period

of time • The NRC of a 50mm panel is .90 which is exceptional high for an

outside absorber • Non combustible • Fibre free and requires no additional treatment to maintain

performance • Easily installed to a C channel making fixing quick and easy or

adhesive fixed • Resistant to chlorides and potassium therefore will survive without

further protection in coastal areas • Made from 100% recycled glass carrying a very high green rating • Easy to cut shape to allow for penetrations

Benefits

• Sintered glass offers high sound absorption over a broad frequency range, thus providing excellent control of reflection and excess reverberation

• Inorganic sintered glass is non-combustible, offering a fire-safe absorptive treatment • The sintering process produces a fiber-free panel, which can be used where ever

codes call for fiber-free products • The panels are rigid and rugged offering a highly absorptive impact resistant surface • Moisture resistance makes the panel ideal for humid indoor applications, like

swimming pools and also outdoor applications • The glass used to form the panels is all 100% recycled satisfying LEED requirements

and is environmentally friendly • The panels can be machined with standard tools and commercial installation systems • The light weight reduces any loading issues
