We must now complete our br ie f outline of the Universe as i t rea ll y  is, and completely lay aside all our previous beliefs and false

knowledge about i t .

We must discern in our picture of the Universe the great princ ip le s  and laws which prevail throughout the world and come to a simple comprehension of the order, system and simpleness of the Divine Plan

Let us look at this Divine Plan as we would look at some map, some more material scheme of things. We must bear in mind that to look  at i t a l l in it s minute deta ils would mean a l i f e time of analyti-ca l study. We can only take glimpses here and there at those de-t a i l s which are of the utmost importance to us, our existence and our welfare here on earth.

F ir st we have the great sphere, the universe, as a huge b a l l . It isnot solid, but formed of a thick wall, like a great rubber ball,  and undoubtedly as f lex ib le as a rubber b a l l . What there may be outside of this b e l l, i f there is anything at a l l, is impossible to conceive. We cannot today conceive of endless space, space going on and on indefinitely. Yet that is what astronomy asks us to conceivein its presentday teachings about the heavens.

It is much easie r to bel ieve and conceive of there being no out-side, no anything, outside of the sphere than to believe that space, f i l l e d with stars and planets, is indefini te, and that the universe consists of endless planets, endless stars, endless suns and endlessthings. And, what is more important, it is NOT NECESSARY for us to

try to conceive or fathom the mystery of what is OUTSIDE of the great sphere in order to have a perfect understanding of the uni-verse as we know i t .

In presentday astronomy you cannot hope to have even a meagre un-derstanding of the universe as they reach it, unless you study and become familiar with the great UNKNOWN SPACE that reaches in a l l  directions without end. Therefore very great student of astronomy reaches a point where he can go no further except through specula-tion and guess work. Unless he is w il li ng to take fo r granted the guessedat theories and facts about the endless space, he is soon through with his study of the universe. The expert professor of  astronomy must be able to talk as g l ib ly about the planets SUPPOSED

to exist in the endless space as he is able to talk about Jupiter  or Mars, which he can see, or thinks he sees, when he looks through the telescope. I f an astronomer was to admit that a l l he knew of astronomy pertained to just our earth, our sun and the  planets and stars he could see through the telescope, he would be considered as only onethird educated in astronomy.

^ our s^udy of the universe we do not have to go beyond thatwhich is right at hand. Whether there is space, atmosphere, clouds, inde. 'a ite , endless space outside of the sphere or not does not in-

’ terest us, fo r we KN0W_that there are no planets, no stars , no

things in existence outside of this great sphere, so why give time and thought to unprofi table speculation. The fact probaoly is tha

there is no space, no atmosphere, nothing outside of the sphere, buthis is so hard to comprehend and so useles s we do not try to undstand it.

So we shall direct our attention and study exclusively to the uni-verse, the Great Sphere, and what is within i t . So far as the walor CRUST of this sphere is concerned we can easil y accept a l l that science has to say on the subject of geology and the strata of theearth. Science has explored the layers of so il , stone, minerals, o i l s , water and vegetation that comprise the earth. The only d i f fence between their statements and OUR statements is this: they believe that they can keep on going deeper into the earth until theyreach toward the centre of the earth, and that there is a great hein the centre. They beli eve they are on the OUTSIDE of a solid bawhereas we believe we are on the INSIDE of a hollow sphere. Sincthis sphere is not solid the crust can only be a few miles in thicness. The exact number of miles is not important to us, just now, but is probably not over f i f t y miles in thickness. That would meathat the crust is, comparatively, as thick as the skin on an averagorange. What is true of the crust is that as i t comes nearer to toutside i t is in molten heat, li ke lava, and probably i f we could see the outside from distance— the way we look at the moon— we wousee that it is a mass of f i r e , or fir eme ta l, burning and sci nti lating , lik e the sun when seen through gla sses. The f i r e and lava  which comes to the inner surface through volcanos is probably from

near the the outer surface of the crust. But, as has just been said, no far as the crust concerns us on thinside, we can take as fact all that science has discovered regardthe layers of stone, earth, o il s and minerals and vegetation, as published in various textbooks.

Only one point need concern us right now— a point to be taken up lter on. The ea rth 's crust is composed of matter that has a negativel ect ri cal nature. In fa ct , the whole crust of the earth is a negtive electrical mass and that is why we find radioactive, magnetiminerals in the earth. Even the water upon the surface of the eais negative in el ectr ic a l nature. How and why this i s we w i l l stushortly.

Now in the^ centre of this GREAT SPHERE, in what we ca l l the atmos-phere, or heavens, there is a centra l point. This point is where thing and condition we ca l l the SUN exists. We must warn you at once not to think of the sun as a great ba l l of f i r e . That is whwe have been taught; that is what we have always believed. But weare to learn that the sun is not a great ba l l of f i r e at a l l . Weto ld thg,t it is a huge b a l l , much bigger than the earth i t s e l f , anof course if th is is true the sun could not be INSIDE our earth.

In order to thoroughly understand the structure of this sphere, we

w i l l take some actual f ig ures and dimensions.

F irst , the circumference of the earth is about 24,900 miles. This means that the measurement ins ide of the sphere, on the surface, is  about 24,900 mi les. This also means, therefore, that the whole uni

• verse, the GREAT SPHERE of the universe, is not quite 25,000 miles  around the inside.

Second, the distance across this sphere, the diameter of the inside of the universe, is about 7,915 miles. In other words, from one

\ side of the sphere to the other side is le ss than 8,000 miles. That * would mean that from the surface of the earth to the CENTRE of the

SPHERE, where the sunpoint i s , would be about 3,957 miles. This means that we on th is earth cannot be farther away from the sun  point at any time than about 3,957 miles. Yet astronomy te l ls us that the sun is mil lions of miles away from the earth— almost 93,000,000 miles.

Science t e l l s us that experts have measured the distance of the sun from the earth and that therefore their figures cannot be wrong. But we must take into consideration how that distance was measured.  Naturally it was not measured in a way that we can easily demonstrateto anyone on a momentTs notice. I t was measured by a long process  of mathematical configuration, but there is nothing wrong with the mathematical processes involved. A l l such processes must begin witha premise, a fundamental statement or condition, and the rest is  bu i l t on that foundation. I f the foundation is wrong, i f the funda

mental statement is an error, there w i l l be an error in the re su lt .  Science proceeds with the assumption that we are on the OUTSIDE of  the earth, and that the sun is also on the outside of the earth. Then these mathematical experts draw a circle on paper and call that the earth. Then they draw a stra ight line on one part of the cir cleand ca ll in g that a tangent, the'/ proceed to draw a tr iang le upon that st raight line , which w i ll represent the lines point ing toward the sun. Using the same process, i f the straight line , the very f i r s t step in the formula, was drawn on the INSIDE of the c ir cle in-stead of on the outside, the whole result of the fi gur in g would be di ff er en t. Therefore, i f they start with a straight line inside the c ir cle and use the same figures from fact as they now use, they w i l l find that the distance to the sun w i l l be le ss than 4,000 milesinstead of over 93,000,000 miles. It is a l l a matter of beginning the fi gu ri ng with the righ t premise, the right fundamental fa ct .But we w i l l have more of this la ter on.

We w i l l go back again to the centre point of the universe, the centrof the GREAT SPHERE. The whole of the sphere is f i l l e d with a vib rating energy. Even i f we accept the common, though part ica lly in-correct , theory of the sun, we must realiz e that i f the great sun wain the centre of a closed, seal ed sphere, that sphere would be f i l l ewith great energy or vib rating force . Let us suppose for the momentthat the sun is not a great b a l l , but nevertheless is something thatex ist s in the centre, and that a l l around i t , f i l l i n g the whole

sphere, is this wonderful vibrating energy that we know comes from the sun. We can easily understand that the whole sphere, then,

would be charged with a mighty power or energy of some kind.

At this point we begin to reali ze the pr ac ti cal importance of the in-troduction of the Rosicrucian Cosmology. We begin to see that there are as many facts substantiating our statements as those substantia-ting the early theory of Copernicus that has become so popular to  Lay. We w i l l continue next week with this same lecture, explaining  Lbout this energy that f i l l s a l l space inside the sphere, that we lave been speaking about. In the meantime it w il l be well fo r you 30 look up in the Public Library or in some good Encyclopedia the subjects of Cosmology and Astronomy—not deeply but just enough to get an idea of the popular conception of the subjects today— so you w i l l have a fa i r understanding of the two statements; the one we are introducing to you and the one that is so generally understood.

Now tills great energy that f i l l s a l l the space inside of the sphere would have to have sons central point where its vi brat ions , it s powerwould be foca li zed, centra lized, condensed. It wouldnot make a ba l lit would not make a material thing of any kind, out i t would create in the centire a very definite point or condition of power which

would be intense— stronger than the power would be anywhere else in  xhe spoore.

In a l l demonstrations of magnetic power we fin d that where magnetic or electrical energy is confined in a closed space there is sure to be sooner or la te r a central point where the power is strongest. Be-cause the universe is a sphere it is natural that the central point of power would soon become an exact point— that is because i t ’would be equi—distant from a l l parts of the surface of the earth of the universe.

Now that is prec is el y what the sun rea ll y is . I t is HOT a ba l l, not a thing, but a. condit ion. You must bear in mind that we do not SEE the san when we think we do. Science is beginning to re alize now that when ws look at planets and stars we may not be seeing what we think we see, because of the refra ction of li ght. But when we look toward the sun and see in the sky a ba l l , we are seeing a projection  of the sun upon the str ata of a ir in the sky, and not the sun i t s e l f  at a l l . 'Then we see the sun sett ing in the ocean we think i t is the b a l l of the sun we see, yet science found long ago that the sun is  at such times fa r below the poss ib le sight of man’ s eyes end that he sees only e projection of the sun. To make th is c le ar, we w i l l use a diagram and illustrate it.

In this diagram we Rave the large outer sphere representing the earth’ s surface, and within that a, smaller sphere representing the dense atmosphere, a sphere of magnetic vibrations and energy. The

outer edge of the atmospheric sphere is called the atmospheric planeIt is like the canopy of the heavens above us when we look toward the sky, and we cannot see through it . Onto thi s plane the sun is projected into a disk, and we see the disk of the sun on that edge of the atmospheric plane, just as we see the picture of the sun pro-

jected into a moving picture screen. From the centre of the sphere radiate the energy and light waives which spread out and make that

\ project ion of the sundisk. Because the sun is projected so close lyto the ea rth's surface it makes the sundisk look very large.

The sundisk remains more or less stationery, but the earth's sur  ^ . face, the GREAT SPHERE, continual ly revolves and of course th isv v causes the sundisk to appear at a l l parts of the earth's surface

e v e r y twentyfour hours, because the outer GREAT SPHERE revolves  completely in twentyfour hours.

AUORC— Ro s i cru c i an a r o tfcterhp o d .ARC AIT3 CCSIiOLOGY LECTURE SULBER J IV S -A . PAC-3 TEO.

Re w il l have more about the sun and the sphere's movement in anotherlecture . The only point we wish to make clear just now is that the great sun, which. science says is larger than the earth on or in which we live, really can be inside the sphere.

Of course Diagram Ho. 6 leaves much unexplained and arouses many questions. Mo3t of these w i l l be answered very shortly. It i s im-possible to put into one simple diagram all the points of the Cos-mogony and we cannot take up a l l the points at once.

S lOur next consideration is regarding the great atmospheric sphere in-side the GREAT SPHERE. You w i l l note that the inner sphere, that which is composed of atmosphere (and other elements which we w i l l  study later on) is a separate sphere, not coming very close to the earth's surface.

y* /   Science t e l l s us i t has found that even ten miles above the surface

of the earth the atmosphere is so changed it cannot support l i f e .  This is a fact, because science has made the tests and proven it  so, but when science attempts to explain HHY this is so it goes in-to strange theories and cannot demonstrate the theories . Science,  in its latest findings, also says that it believes that atmosphere

or AIR exist s one hundred miles above the surface of the earth, or perhaps f ive hundred miles, but that is only a nuess for, of course, no one has been into the air that far above the surface of the earth.

There would be no need for guessing i f science r ea l ly knew what com-poses AIR and what there is in the air that causes and maintains l i f e . Or, i f science knew the source and origin of the vit a l force that is in the a ir , i t would not need to guess how far above the surface of the earth man would find that vita l force in the air.

There is where we have an advantage. We need not go into the air a hundred miles or even ten miles to know what ex is ts there, fo r i t

is so evident from many other experiments that the law is made too plain, "ife do not have to go to the bottom of the ocean— twenty or a hundred miles down— to know xvhether there is water there just as there is near the surface, for our reasoning from facts we now have te l l s us what the water i s like at the bottom of the ocean.

But between the earth’ s surface and the inner sphere of atmosphere there is a space f i l l e d with the air and winds which we l ive upon. The winds are caused by the movement of the air, and the ai r is set into motion because the outer sphere is moving so fast . Think of  i t 1 The outer sphere completely revolves in twentyfour hours. That means that any point of the surface, like the city of San Fran-cisco, for instance, moves around the whole circle of the sphere, a

distance of over 24,000 miles, in twentyfour hours. That is over 1,000 miles an hour 1 Would not such a fast movement of the earth 's surface create winds? It not only creates the great winds on the surface of the earth, but i t causes many other things which we w i l l  study later . But the point i s , that in the space betY/een the sur-face of the earth and the inside atmospheric sphere there are cur-rents of wind circula ting caused by the earth 's movement, and of  course these currents of air would be stronger nearer the surface  of the earth and become weaker the higher from the surface we test-ed them. See i f you cannot think of many things you have read or heard that a.re easily explained to you now, by just knowing this.  Between th is lecture and the next think over these facts and' see how many problems they solve for you.
