- The Bras Basah.Bugis district today is teeming with youthful energy with a

population of 12,000 students and 1,500 teaching staff. Since the refurbishment of

the National |Museum in 2006 and the concentration of various museums within thedistrict, the visitorship to the National Museum has nearly tripled from 250,000 to700,000 in the first year of its opening. In terms of economic spin-offs, there hasbeen a 32 per cent and 17 per cent increase in median rentals for office space andshop space respectively.

Reflecting the vision that URA set once, it is clearly seen that the result has been

achieved. In which, it has directly affect on its master planning and architecture

elements. The redevelopment of Bras Basah, Bugis involved multidisciplinary ofurban design which shows the complex relationships between all elements of built

and unbuilt space. (DoE, 1996)
