1.0 Acknowledgement
First and foremost, I would like to thank Mr. Angus Lee for not
only giving me the opportunity to be exposed to a professional
working environment but also handling and managing this module
well. This opportunity provided us an insight of a working
experience of an architect.
I would also like to thank Ms. Indrani, my visiting lecturer, for
her time and effort to come visit us at our work place. Her suggestions
and encouragement were invaluable which helped us to understand
and handle situations better at our work place. Her visit is very much
appreciated.
I would also like to thank my supervising architects, Mr. Helmy,
Mr. Allen and Ms. Guo Yi for their time and effort to teach and guide
me throughout this internship. Above all, I would like to give my
utmost gratitude to Ar. Mark Looi for giving me the opportunity to
have my internship in his company.
Lastly, I would like to thank colleagues and course mates for
making my work experience in LNL Sdn Bhd a more memorable
experience.

Project 1: KO Lee Bungalow
Involving weeks:
Week 1 - Tender Drawing: Toilet Details
Week 5- Tender Drawing: Toilet Details
Week 6- Tender Drawing: Toilet Details, Staircase Details
Week 7- Tender Drawing: Staircase Details
Week 8- Tender Drawing: Staircase Details
Week 9- Tender Drawing: Swimming Pool Detail
WEEK 1- WEEK 6
This project is a 4 storey bungalow with 11 toilets. There are so
many details that I started to pay more attention to. I learned about
basin heights, basin designs (ie. semi-recessed, wall hung or above
counter). Also, I learned about W.C. being placed preferrably aligned
with the tiles and the types of W.C. (ie. close coupled water closet or
one piece water closet). In addition, I learned about the different
surface finishes to improve the toilet's ambience. Lastly, I learned
about floor levels and the appropriate drop levels in bathrooms,
powder rooms and shower areas.
The tiles sizes that this company normally uses are 300mm x
600mm homogeneous tile finish for smaller bathrooms and 600mm x
600mm homogeneous tile finish for bigger bathrooms and powder
rooms. The toilets all use stainless steel floor traps.
This project allowed me to be introduced to more specific
measures of construction taking place in real life. I became more
attentive to the detailing and dimensions and sizes of the components.
The quality of my drawings also improved in terms of line weight and
detailing.

This project made me investigate more about the construction
detail that happens during the construction of the staircase which
allow me to be exposed the construction methods and systems. I also
learnt to evaluate the construction and the detailing of the project.
WEEK 9
The size of the swimming pool is approximately 5.2m x 16.4m
including the infinity pool for drainage and storage. Here I learnt
about the approved depth of the pool at 1.2m deep. I also learnt about
the overflowing system, filter and pump. I also learnt about the
waterproofing system and the tiling arrangement.
Figure 11: 3D model of swimming pool.
The most common design used is by building an infinite pool
where the water discharge will flow to balancing tank and pump
room. This design has more aesthetic value as compared to having a
storage tank below the pool.

Project 2: Dato' Chen Bungalow
Involving weeks:
Week 2- Week 4: Bungalow Model Making
WEEK 2- WEEK 4
We were advised to build the model in sequences similar to the
real construction method. In this site making project, I learnt to study
the site plan analytically and was able to understand the drawing.
Figure 15: Site Model
The purpose of building a physical model is to minimise
mistakes that may occur during the construction of the bungalow. As
the bungalow sits on the steep site, I had apply my knowledge of
building construction in order to support the bungalow. This allow the
demonstration of knowledge and understanding of building structure.

was an opportunity to be able to visit a completed bungalow done by
LNL Sdn Bhd. On the other hand, I was also able to be exposed to the
fully constructed toilets. This allowed me to further understand about
toilet detailing. I was able to analyse and document the construction
methods and materials on site.

These are to determined the exterior colour scheme of the house.
I learnt to refer to a colour template provided by the supplier. Neutrals
are selected as it is a more accepting colour as compared to other
colour types. I learnt to identity areas to colour according to a 3D
model provided. I also learnt to note down the codes of colours.
