HOW TO CONVERT AN IMAGE INTO A JACQUARD

WEAVE

You can make a jacquard weave from an image byreplacing each color with a different weave.

1 . Open the Jacquard conversion window bygoing to Weave > Jacquard conversion .

HOW TO DEFINE THE WEAVES FOR EACH

COLOR IN THE IMAGE

Selected color / weave

1 . Select a color for which you want to define aweave, by clicking on it. You can also select colordirectly from the image.

2. To define a weave, do one of the following:• Enter a weave from Arahne database by goingto Choose weaves > Load .• Load one of the basic weaves by going toChoose weaves > Load default, or usekeyboard shortcuts 0, 1 , 2, 3, 4, ...• PressWeave to editor tool and draw yourown weave. Left click = black point, right click= white point. When you are done, pressWeave from editor tool .

3. If you use similar weaves for different colors,copy the weaves from one color to another. Leftclick to select a weave, right click to copy it.Then modify the copied weave.

4. Use the tools from the toolbox to mirror ,invert , move , rotate or inclineweaves.

2. Go to Image > Load and load the image. Theimage should be in indexed color mode. You canmake such image with ArahPaint.

HOW TO CONSTRUCT A JACQUARD WEAVE

1 . After you have defined all the weaves, click theDensity button to calculate the number ofwefts according to the density and the numberof warps. Skip this step ifthe imagewasdrawn infabricdensity.

2. Click OK to generate the jacquard weave and toredraw the fabric simulation.

HOW TO CORRECT LONG FLOATS

1 . Open the Edit weave window by going toWeave > Edit in the main window.

2. In Edit weave window, go to Edit > Float.

3. The Float window will open. Enter themaximum acceptable float for warp and weft onface / back of the fabric.

4. If you enable Mark long floats, long floats willbe marked with red in the Edit weave window.

5. Click Fix floats face and back.

3. You can view the jacquard weave by going toWeave > Edit in the main window or by rightclicking on the fabric simulation.

Note: Ifyou getan Indivisiblewarning in eitherweave, itmeans that theweave size does notdividethe image size. Go toConversion > Set jacquardsize to divisible, orchoose a differentweave. Iffabricwill notbe repeated, divisibilitydoes notmatter.

HOW TO SAVE JACQUARD CARDS FOR

PRODUCTION

1 . Go to Weave > Save cards for production .

2. In the Save cards for production window, enterthe number of hooks on your loom in the upperleft corner.

3. Enter the hook layout by choosing the hook'sfunction and number of hooks for each function.

4. Choose your loom format. For instance StäubliJC5.

5. Save the setting for future use by going to File> Save loom layout. Give it a name and click OK.

6. Choose a weave for the selvedges by doing oneof the following:• Double click inside the selvedge area to openthe Load dialog and choose a weave from thedatabase.• Click inside the selvedge area and press akeyboard shortcut to enter one of the defaultweaves: 2 = plain weave, 3 = twill, 4 = brokentwill.• Click inside the selvedge area and click on theWeave to editor icon , to draw your ownweave. After drawing click Weave from editoricon .

Note: Once the loom layout is saved, you can load itthrough Choose > Your loom layout.To set a certain layout as default, first load thelayout, then go to Help > Save setup in the upperright cornerofthemain windowandclickOK.
