Shaima’a said after reading the news in social me- dia she contacted the daughter of Al- Fahd and the latter assured her that her mother enjoys good health and is currently engaged in her new TV serials which will be broadcast during Ramadan. Victims thank supporters: A Kuwaiti court recently sentenced the board members of a big real-estate company to ten-year imprisonment for their involvement in fraud and money laundering. They have been ordered to pay KD 5 million. The judgment was based on a petition filed by Lawyer Ali Al-Attar from Meshari Al-Otaibi Law Firm. Victims who were beneficiaries of the judgment issued a joint statement thanking everybody who supported their cause, especially the volunteers. They also thanked the government authorities that responded positively to their complaints, affirming that the judgment has planted a seed to correct the trend of real-estate investment inside and outside Kuwait. Meanwhile, the Coordinator General of the Coalition of Real Estate Fraud and Money Laundering Victims Eng. Hassan Al-Bahrani declared that quick conclusion of the case will largely contribute to restoration of confidence in the real-estate markets. He said this will also strengthen confidence of citizens and investors in the performance of the market with the support of dignified Kuwaiti judiciary that is neutral to all parties. Securitymen ‘seize’ 10 kilos meth drugs from citizen’s livestock pen 2,158 on ‘Pardon’ list KUWAIT CITY, April 4: A Kuwaiti citizen was arrested in possession of ten kilograms of methamphetamine and items used for producing the drug inside a livestock pen in Kabad area, reports Al-Seyassah daily. When the Drugs Control General Department received information about a Kuwaiti citizen running a meth lab inside his livestock pen in Kabad area, a team was formed for conducting investigations. After confirming the information and obtaining a warrant, se- curitymen raided the livestock pen and caught the suspect red- handed in the act of producing the drug. They confiscated ten kilograms of methamphetamine which were ready to be sold, as well as items used for producing the drug. During interrogations, he confessed that he receives the neces- sary items from a neighboring country via an individual. A case was registered, and the suspect was referred with the con- fiscated items to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action. 2,158 prisoners on Amiri Pardon list: The Public Prosecution said the Amiri Pardon list includes 2,158 prisoners, reports Al-Rai daily. However, the list does not include those convicted in State Se- curity cases, bloggers, terrorists or members of the Abdali cell. Giving the details, the daily said 505 prisoners shall be released immediately and these are those who are completing their term while 1,653 shall benefit from a reduction in the prison term by half. The sources added the files of the prisoners were studied and scrutinized very carefully not to make any mistakes, ensuring that the amnesty is given to the deserving inmates. Doctorate degrees forgers list to PP hits 12: The number of people referred to the Public Prosecutor’s for forging doctor- ate degrees increased to 12, including 8 who work in the educa- tional institutions, reports Al-Qabas daily. The Ministry of Higher Education has referred four new hold- ers of doctorate degrees for falsifying their academic certificates. According to a well-informed source, a number of those re- ferred to the Prosecution did not complete their course for PhD but were enrolled in institutes which are not recognized by the educational system in the country. The source added referrals to the Public Prosecution will con- tinue as long as holders produce forged certificates. Death of man in car probed: Police are investigating the death of a Kuwaiti who was slumped on steering wheel of his car in a desert in Jahra, reports Al-Rai daily. Police, paramedics and Forensic men rushed to the desert in Jahra after a compatriot called the Operations Room of the In- terior Ministry. The corpse of the citizen has been referred to Forensics to identify the cause of death. Egyptian allegedly consumes fuel: An unidentified Egyptian was rushed to a hospital after he allegedly consumed large quan- tities of fuel from the tank of his boat, reports Al-Anba daily. The Egyptian was found unconscious beside his boat on sea- shore in Ahmadi with the fuel hose inside the fuel tank. It appears the Egyptian was trying to siphon the fuel from the boat’s gas tank into a jerrycan and mistakenly took in his mouth and swallowed large quantities of gas. Egyptian held for consuming drugs KUWAIT CITY, April 4: Police have arrested an Egyptian for possessing and consuming heroin, reports Al-Rai daily. The arrest came when a police pa- trol on routing duty in Farwaniya saw the Egyptian fall and by the time police reached him, he was in a semi-conscious state. The Egyptian was rushed to the Far- waniya polyclinic and was treated of low blood pressure. The Egyptian then admitted to con- suming heroin and also told police he threw away a sachet of heroin when they approached him. Police returned to the place and found a large sachet of heroin and sent it to the General Department of Drug Control to take action against the Egyptian after his health condition got better. Coast Guard to hold live drills 200 people held for various crimes in security campaigns By Munaif Nayef Al-Seyassah Staff KUWAIT CITY, April 4: More than 200 violators of law including drug users were arrested during security campaigns that were launched in most parts of Kuwait in the last three days. According to security sources, these campaigns were based on instructions from the Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs at Ministry of In- terior Major General Ibrahim Al-Tarrah. During the campaigns, the officers also discovered many vehicles that were re- ported as stolen. The sources affirmed that these cam- paigns will continue to be held to arrest violators of law and wanted individuals. Meanwhile, General Department for Public Relations and Security Media of Ministry of Interior declared that the Gen- eral Department of Coast Guard will con- duct a live-ammunition exercise on April 9-10 from 8am to 2pm in Kuwaiti territo- rial waters. It warned people against approaching areas close to Qarwa Island and Umm Al- Maradem Island where the exercise will be conducted. The department affirmed that marine patrol officers will prevent civilians from accessing the abovementioned locations with the aim of protecting their lives. Syrians held for thefts: Jahra security- men arrested two Syrians for involvement in three theft cases in camping sites in Salmi and Kabad. A group of Kuwaitis filed a complaint against unknown persons who allegedly stole items from their camping sites. In- vestigation ensued, leading to the arrest of the suspects who admitted the crime. According to security sources, the victim went to Jahra Police Station and reported the theft of his vehicle. He ex- plained that he was delivering orders from a restaurant when he stopped in front of one of the houses and went up to deliver the order. He returned to find his vehicle missing. Securitymen circulated the description of the vehicle to all patrol teams in the country. No injuries in fire: Firefighters extin- guished a fire that broke out in a cement mixture vehicle along King Faisal Motor- way, opposite Adailiya. No casualties or injuries were reported and investigations are underway to deter- mine the cause of fire. Father allowed to see his kids in presence of his former wife Bullet hits car By Jaber Al-Hamoud Al-Seyassah Staff KUWAIT CITY, April 4: In an incident that is regarded as strange in the Kuwaiti society, the Family Court allowed a Kuwaiti father in his 30s to see his children in the presence of his former wife who is married to another man, even though the father was accused of sexually assaulting them. Lawyer Yousef Husai filed the lawsuit on the behalf of the chil- dren’s mother, explaining that his client and the defendant were mar- ried and were blessed with two daughters and a son. Following the divorce, they agreed that the mother will have the custody of the children while father has the right to see the children and take them to his house. However, the mother discov- ered that the children refused to go with their father. They revealed to her that he touched their bodies inappropriately and sexually assaulted them when they were with him. The parents then signed an agreement as per which the ex- penses of the children, which comes to about KD 450 per month, will be shared by the parents. Also, the father can see his children but in the presence of their mother. Lawyer Husai said the agree- ment did not mention the reasons behind limiting the father’s visit to his children in the house of their mother and in her presence in order to protect the rights of their children. KUWAIT CITY, April 4: A Kuwaiti has complained to the authorities that a ‘stray’ bullet hit his car when he was driving a road parallel to Abu Al-Has- saniya, reports Al-Rai daily. The man said he heard a ‘thud’ sound while driving, so he pulled over and saw the bul- let lodged in the side of his car. Police are investigating. Meanwhile, a police first lieutenant was rushed to a hos- pital for treatment from shock, reports Al-Anba daily. This happened when he had gone to investigate the death of a 37-year-old Kuwaiti who had died inside his car and realized the victim was his brother.
