All hardware has been changed, except RRH.

Still alarm is seen as RRH not reachable.

Following is the issue seen for this UAE node B MC RRH, Required your support

to debug this issue.

Present issue in this UAE Node B MC RRH seen:

New MC-RRH 900 (MC-RRH2x40-09) not been detected by the eCCM in release LR13.3

Following are the SW and HW NodeB data:

1) The NodeBs are loaded with UNB1330BC01 ( LR13.3W)

2) The NodeBs HW is d4U 9926 ( eCCM + 2eCEM) + 4 MC-RRH 900MHz

3) This issue is seen in all nodebs and 4 MC-RRH 900 taken for test; on all of them

we have seen the same behavior

4) The MCRRH configured in 3G Mode only.

This is UNB, nodeB software. I want binary in MC-RRH. Generally, software that

was loaded into MC-RRH is 2g mode. We need to make it 3G mode. It can be download

UNB1330C203 from ALU server and pick up x0o_xxc0.ecr file after unzip and untar.

If some issue getting files, let me know. I will download and send it tomorrow.

For me it will take 7hrs to download:

Following are the procedure.

Tools:

(1) WFTP

(2) telnet tools

Prepare,

1. Connect MCRRH and PC with Ethernet cable.

Ethernet Card is required in your test PC, you should configure the IP address and

mask as following:

2. Copy x0o_xxc0.ecr.file to D:\ in PC.

3. Open WFTP. Set wftp as below,

4 Check WFTP Configuration

After step 3, you need to telnet MCRRH,

Then execute "ls".

If WFTP config correct, you will get lots of file name and one of them is

"x0o_xxc0.ecr". Otherwise, You need to check wftp configuration & Doesn't

continue to do step 5.

5.Update origin software:

1) telnet to McRRH with 192.168.0.x :

username: newclass

password: nc_tmxda

2) check ftp server: following command can show content of sharing dir on ftp server

Cmd: ls

3) change McRRH to ALFS mode for downloading and reboot.

Cmd: Select_ALFS_SW

Cmd: reboot

4) unprotect McRRH flash

Cmd: Flash_Bypass_HW_Protection 0x0F1E2D3C4B5A6978LL

5) download MCRRH software from ftp server according to your need.

Cmd(update origin software): dlpe "ORIGIN","x0o_xxc0.ecr","ECR"

6) change McRRH to normal mode.

Cmd: Select_SCP_SW

7) Check preloading result

Cmd: swShow 0,-1

8) Activate to origin partition

Cmd: Package_Activate 0

If you have SUMX board, you can use it with UNB software.

If you don't have SUMX, we need that particular file from R&D server. I am not

Hi Abdessamad,

It surprised me when Karim told me that sumx board was not planned. MC-RRH always

comes with 2G software from factory. It needs to be converted to 3G if it needs to

be used for 3G. SUMX board not is only used for 2G+3G but also used to convert

MC-RRH 2G to 3G 1st time.

Since you don't have sumx, we have to use below procedure to convert 2G to 3G. it

can't be done remotely. Person should be at site with Laptop.

I requested Chen HU, in copy already to send the file or help us to recover from

this issue. I will follow up tomorrow morning. It is late night for him now.

- The feature is GA since last year and I'm surprised this 3G only path is not

considered by SC, I might not have global view but I see this AS an issue in the

delivery that need to be addressed asap (on top of our issue)

- We have in Etisalat 2G site collocated for almost all sites so we need to

understand clearly what will be the use of 2G in our 3G only case (target):

o What is the MOP exactly, connect the MC-RRH to Sumx only ?

o Connection will be using same fiber as we have to connect the CCM (MM /

specification provided already by khedr)? Same port on the RRH (cpri?)

o What are exactly the actions that will be done on the 2G BTS?

o What is the impact on 2G BTS of such action, any disruptive impact?

o Can all those actions be done remotely?

o Once the AP is completed on 2G side, we will just have to reconnect to the CCM

and start 3G only I&C?

o Please keep in mind a lot of tower sites were RRH should be at 100m high, so the

fiber position change (2G to 3G BTS) should be done on BTS fiber end..otherwise

field operation might be very complex

For Etisalat UAE, we have ordered more than 3000 units of 3G U900 MCRRH that was

translated into below part number (RMXA09 - 3BK28706CB) in our engineering

catalogue.

According to our local technical team and our technical support colleagues, the

above shipped RMXA09 came only with 2G software from factory whereas we have

ordered it as a 3G U900.

In order to work in 3G (U900), our support is saying that we now need to visit

each site and upgrade locally a 3G firmware for each RMXA09 that needs to be

converted to 3G.

I will let you imagine the huge workload and hassle we will have to face now

on-site in order to upgrade all shipped RMXA09 (more than 3000 units!!!) in order

to get the 3G U900 mode!!!!

I urge you to take immediate action to avoid this issue in the future.

The cost of this on-site retrofit will need to be assessed and bared by WCDMA PU

or SC as a cost of non quality.

Hi Sunil,

Correct, the MC-RRH is reachable and problem solved. Now the team is performing

the integration of the site.

I will call for a separate meeting for a global review of the case (the feature we

are implementing is wo. 2G dependency so this should not happen and we should not

need 2G Sumx / my view)

Yes, you don't need sumx board however, you need to upgrade all MC-RRH before

integration.

Regarding SUMX19" connection to U900 MCRRH900 it worked at site 2309.

Commissioner connected the MCRRH to the SUMX & configured the MCRRH to work

for 3G U900 then connected back to Nodeb it is appearing normally with 3G Nodeb

individually.

Hi, all

The key point for MCRRH to work in 3G only mode is the original SW version (should

be xxc0).

SUMX has the ability to update MCRRH original SW in case the 2G BTS package

include the correct one.

So maybe for some MCRRH which are running in 2G world now, they already have the

correct version.

Suppose your commission step with SUMX as below

1) Connect MCRRH to SUMX

2) configured the MCRRH to work for 3G U900 (how do you configure this? It's not

needed from R&D's view)

3) Disconnect from SUMX and connect MCRRH to BBU

The inner action to make MCRRH workable in 3G should be "SUMX update MCRRH

original SW to xxc0".

And this update should happen after MCRRH operational in SUMX side.

The problem is if the 2G side BTS load doesn't include correct MCRRH original SW,

it won't work.

In summary, if MCRRH's original SW is not xxc0, below two choice are both OK:

- use laptop to update via DEBUG port

- use SUMX with correct BTS load to update then disconnect

After that, you'd better use swShow to confirm MCRRH load version.

the problem with the MC-RRH 900 origin SW is widely known.

Commissioning of MC-RRH900 is documented in IEH523 - Section 301.

The procedure how to check MC-RRH900 origin SW and update it is documented in

IEH523 - Section 302.
