IMPULSO is made up of experienced professionals with a great expertise in the development and management of high complexity inland and offshore aquaculture projects. We have developed our own know how for the development of high tonnage aquaculture plants, thanks to which we have received the 2007 Award for Innovative Business Management in the category of Technological Development.

Our next challenge is the

environmentally friendly

aquaculture.

IMPULSO AND

AQUACULTURE

THESE ARE THE CHALLENGES FOR THE

AQUACULTURE SECTOR:

Sustainable development: an environmentally friendly aquaculture. The key points to achieve

this challenge are the water re-circulation and waste management systems.

Competitiveness: better purchase, lower costs, better quality production, and better selling

are key elements for a profitable company.

Suitable administrative framework.

Communication, promotion and image improvement.

The history of aquaculture goes back in time 4,000 years, but it has only been in the last

50 when it has become an important socio-economic activity, that produces a 9.8

working positions all over the world.

The contribution of aquaculture to the world

supply of fishing products has gone from

3.9% in 1979, to 29.9% in 2002.

And it is remarkable that in 2006, almost half of the fishing products for direct human consumption came from aquaculture. With an average growth of 8.9%, the aquacultu-re sector leads the growing evolution of animal origin food products.

Marine aquaculture will be an essential element for human nourishment in the year

2050. It is estimated that by then 9.2 billion people will inhabit out planet. It is therefore

estimated that the global harvesting land extension will be very limited. Soil erosion and

salinisation and the expansion of industrial and urban land will contribute to a greater

loss of agricultural land. It is also expected a shortage of fresh water for agricultural

use. Things being so, it will be very difficult to feed population from land harvesting. Our

future is therefore in oceans, but their resources are also limited. Aquaculture does not

only guarantee the survival of humans, but it also helps to the recovery of natural

marine populations through the release of young fish from farming.

The only reason why humans left their nomadic life to become sedentary was the discovery

and setting up of farming and harvesting techniques. These would allow them to have a

somehow guaranteed self-supply of food. Aquaculture is a modern expression of this same

situation. Humans grow species in sea farms to guarantee their food supply and survival. The

only reason for the existence of aquaculture is to relieve the pressure that fishing fleets are

imposing on fish population, and to give a response to the increase on the market demand of

seafood and fish. This increase is due to the unstoppable growth of world population and the

challenge we are facing is to grow in a responsible and sustainable way.

CHALLENGES FOR IMPULSO: SOLUTIONS FOR A SUSTAINABLE AQUACULTURE

TECHNICAL PROFESSIONAL TEAM FOR AQUACULTURE

PROJECTS

Impulso has a team of professionals with a great experience

in the management and development of highly complex

inland and offshore aquaculture projects. In addition to our

team we collaborate with scientific and technological

entities of greatest prestige and experience whenever the

complexity of the project requires it. These are: Research

Centres, Technological Institutes, Universities, etc.

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY

AQUACULTURE

To design and optimise aquaculture installations

in which the vital space required by every species

is respected, assuring the renewal of waters,

taking special care of the materials being used,

and optimising the decanting or water treatment

systems to minimise the organic content in the

effluent to nature.

WATER RECIRCULATION

To design and optimise water

re-circulation systems to reduce

water consumption, energy saving,

minimising effluents with organic

matter, and reduction of investment

costs.

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY

AQUACULTURE.POLICULTURE

To design and optimise water

treatment systems in order to re-use

the effluents of every production

phase, with a minimum cost, in the

different processes of the cycle.

IMPULSO OFFERS:

Comprehensive technical advice (from the spotting of the idea to its

fulfilment and setting up) based on our wide experience, in order to

reach innovative and personalized solutions based on customer needs

and applicable technologies.

Comprehensive implementing of the project in all its steps, optimising

investment costs and deadlines, and guaranteeing minimum deviations

from the objectives of the project.

Advice in the search for funding for your investment.

Advice on the optimal implementing of the installation, based on

specific studies, local analysis and relevant regulations.

Design of solutions for a sustainable aquaculture: water recirculation

systems, environmentally friendly aquaculture, integrated aquaculture

(polyculture) water treatment systems to minimise the release and

effects of effluents with organic matter.
