Introduction Maths is more than just numbers
At AQA, we believe in great maths conversations, high-quality resources and expert support. That’s why we’ve created this companion guide to celebrate some of the great people behind our AQA maths qualifications and to share with you the latest resources, designed to support you and help your students realise their potential.

Meet our maths teamOur team of maths curriculum and Exampro experts are here to support you to help students realise their potential.
Andrew Andrew Taylor is Head of the mathematics curriculum team at AQA. Before joining AQA in 2001, he taught mathematics for 17 years and was Head of Faculty in large comprehensive schools in Cambridgeshire and Manchester.
Andrew has been closely involved in the development and delivery of all AQA’s mathematics qualifications from Entry level through to Further Mathematics A-level.
In his current role, Andrew is responsible for ensuring teachers of all AQA maths qualifications are fully informed and supported. He is also responsible for making sure that AQA’s qualifications and support meet the needs of teachers, reflecting best practice and the latest developments in teaching, learning and assessment.

Carly Carly Hayton is a Curriculum Manager in the maths team at AQA. She has worked in the team for nine years.
Carly led the teacher and stakeholder engagement for the development of our Core Maths qualification, Level 3 Mathematical Studies, as well as the current A-level Maths and Further Maths.
She has used this experience to develop many of the resources available on All About Maths across all levels.
Robin Robin Harris is a Curriculum Manager in the maths team at AQA. Having worked in the AQA Maths team for over 12 years he has provided invaluable support to countless teachers during this time and worked on the development of many specifications including the current GCSE.
He was able to draw on his experience to compile the Focus on success CPD packs which were introduced at #MathsConf26.

Gail Nielen Gail helped set up the customer-facing team in the early days for AQA, has been involved in induction and field training, set up the initial working with National MATs (and happily continues to work with MAT customers) and was recently seconded to the UAE to support the OxfordAQA team prior to COVID-19.
She is passionate about the value and usefulness of AQA qualifications and strongly believes they make a difference to students’ lives. Hence, she says, “I make no apologies for selling the ‘best qualifications in town’”.

Greg ThomasUntil recently Greg has been working as an Assistant Headteacher at a large secondary school in Sandwell. He has previously worked as an Educational Consultant, was a National Strategies Advisor, has delivered teacher training sessions at the University of Warwick, and worked as a Regional Lead for the NCETM.
In his spare time, he enjoys travelling, and has a keen interest in skiing, Lego, cooking and listening to music (but not necessarily in that order!).
