I have had many an opportunities to have close

acquaintance with Apexians from different Districts

not only in India but also from other Associations of

Malaysia, Singapore, and Australia. The dedicated

service involvement and the brotherly friendship

among the Apexians committed to service in Apex

Club of Komarapalayam and the recognition given

to Apex Clubs world over attracted me to come

into Apex fold. When the consolidation efforts in

India, became a reality, I took the plunge to lead

Apex India.

Apex India is In cross roads. It needs vision and

focus. It needs guidance and hand holding. Join all

of you - in my efforts, you the new comers and

the Seniors of District 7,5,3,and 1. Let me instill

confidence in you that we all have equal,

important and a bigger role to play in Apex. If this

momentum and the trend continues, I am very

confident that days are not too far, to see active

and vibrant Apex in India as like Eighty's.

Dear All, Without doubt the publication of “The Indian Apexian” is timely; the National Board is driving several measures towards accelerating the momentum set in motion at Ludhiana as consolidation and expansion is the primary goal. Changes in policy and procedures concerning Apex India, for example, the focus on amendment of Constitution, paving the way a greater role for seniors, Lifers and LGs and the education of young and new apexians and their fitness to lead once qualified, are also under intense NB’s scrutiny and, especially so, taking every one along.

A second avatar as editor of “The Indian Apexian”, I am really honored and thankful to NP for the confidence he has reposed in me by entrusting this responsibility. As the editor, I commit myself in delivering the newsletter ; but that would be possible only with your cooperation, help, and support as my aim is to make ‘ news’ and ‘views’ accessible to you from all corners of Apex in the world. Divided into five parts the newsletter’s structure is clear and straightforward; Each part will have a particular focus: National, District, International, Personality development and learning and fun corner This is an attempt to make the newsletter more attractive and readable.

As this is first issue after almost 6 months from the time the National Board had assumed office, I have included news, events and happenings tracing back to last 3 months and till now, which you may have read or come across elsewhere; pardon me for the duplicity. I have to chronicle them in “The Indian Apexian”. As useful service can be provided a newsletter which is truly representative of whole of Apex India, I want to make “The Indian Apexian” a really high quality magazine rich in contents and coverage; to make it appealing to young and newly inducted apexians, experienced and seniors, Lifers and LGs - alike. In Memoriam

Apex India pays Homage to

Apxn Arumugam Manoharan, Past National President, Apex India who left for his

heavenly abode at 2.00 PM (Local Time) at LA, California, USA on Saturday, the

24th June 2017.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, a daughter-in-law and a grandchild.

An alumnus of PSG Coimbatore and an Engineer by profession.

Helpful towards one and all, soft spoken to a fault and ever ready to smile, Mano, as

he is fondly called by us all, exuded warmth and positivity – qualities which endeared

him to all those came in contact with him and he would continue to be fondly

remembered.

His life appeared to offer opportunity for uninhibited indulgence in anything

he had always set a store upon, be it a passion for Apex, his creative construction,

social work, environment related activities, unsatiable taste for Tamil classics. I lost a

personal and dear friend who used to meet me at Bangalore, at least, twice a month.

“NO” is the word he does not know. He was a “flying” messaiah who brought a

magic and healing touch to the needy. By all accounts, he was a Great Human being

loved by one and all. May his Soul Rest In Peace…

The Mid Term Board Meeting of National Association of Apex Clubs of

India is being held hosted by Apex Bally at the Club on the

19th August 2017 at 1.00 PM.

“Rule of the Thumb “

“ GOLF “ Many years ago in Scotland , a new game was invented. It was ruled 'Gentlemen Only...Ladies Forbidden'...and thus the word GOLF entered into the English language.

“ Honeymoon “ It was the accepted practice in Babylon 4,000 years ago that for a month after the wedding, the bride's father would supply his son-in-law with all the mead he could drink. Mead is a honey beer and because their calendar was lunar based, this period was called the honey month, which we know today as the honeymoon.

“ Good Night ..Sleep Tight “ In Shakespeare's time, mattresses were secured on bed frames by ropes. When you pulled on the ropes he mattress tightened, making the bed firmer to sleep on. Hence the phrase......... 'goodnight, sleep tight.’

Leadership Series…1

You Can be a Good Leader in Apex

Leaders do not command excellence, they build excellence. Excellence

is "being all you can be" within the bounds of doing what is right for your

organization. To reach excellence you must first be a leader of good

character. You must do everything you are supposed to do. Organizations

will not achieve excellence by figuring out where it wants to go, then

having leaders do whatever they have to in order to get the job done, and

then hope their leaders acted with good character. This type of thinking is

backwards. Pursuing excellence should not be confused with

accomplishing a job or task. When you do planning, you do it by

backwards planning. But you do not achieve excellence by backwards

planning. Excellence starts with leaders of good and strong character who

engage in the entire process of leadership. And the first process is being a

person of honorable personality.

Character develops over time. Many think that much of a person's

character is formed early in life. However, we do not know exactly how

much or how early character develops. But, it is safe to claim that

character does not change quickly. A person's observable behavior is an

indication of his character. This behavior can be strong or weak, good or

bad. A person with strong character shows drive, energy, determination,

self-discipline, willpower, and nerve. He sees what he wants and goes after

it. He attracts followers. On the other hand, a person with weak character

shows none of these traits. He does not know what he wants. His traits are

disorganized, he vacillates and is inconsistent. He will attract no followers.

A strong person can be good or bad. A gang leader is an example of a

strong person with a bad character, while an outstanding community

leader is one with both strong and good characteristics. An organization

needs leaders with both strong and good characteristics, people who will

guide them to the future and show that they can be trusted
