FRENCH EXPLORATION

After Spain, it was France. Original goal: Find gold and

discover Northwest Passage that connected Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

Arrived in 1524…where? French explorers forged a

decent relationship with Natives based around fur trade all down to New Orleans.

But…diseases, alcohol, guns…

Dutch and French colonization begin next unit…
