• April Fool day – what does it mean
• Origins
• Some ideas for tricks and pranks
• Benefits and some warning
April Fools’ Day is a fun day that’s celebrated on April 1st every year.
April Fools' Day, also known as All Fools' Day is certainly not a holiday!
The origins of April Fools’ Day are obscure.
Origins– Celebrated after Julian Calendar
was replaced with Gregorian Calendar
Fool was anyone who was still using Julian Calendar
• May 1st was the first day of summer, the beginning of spring planting season.– April Fool was anyone who planted early
The day is marked by pranks, hoaxes, and other practical jokes on friends,...
...enemies, neighbors, colleagues, classmates, and family.
The aim is to embarrass the gullible -- by sending them on fools' errands...
…or by playing mischief, or causing embarrassment to them.
This is done in the spirit of fun, and nobody minds as long as it is April 1st.
In the U.S., April Fool's Day has become a 'third-rate holiday',
• “It's the one day of the year where people can legitimately cut loose and play pranks on others, guilt free,"
• Indeed, the only two remaining traditions seem to be children using the day as an opportunity to lie to their parents, and local newspapers to publish bogus headlines."
Some ideas for tricks and pranks
• Children Would tell other children that school was canceled.
• In college, student would reset the other student clock. The student that was pranked would either be late for class, be in the wrong class, or not show up to class at all.
