Nitrogen Fertiliser Plant, Lee County, Iowa, United States of America
Iowa Fertilizer Company (IFCo), a fully-owned subsidiary of Orascom Construction Industries (OCI), decided to construct a new nitrogen-based fertiliser production plant at Wever in the Lee County near the Mississippi River in Iowa, US.It is the first plant in the area to be constructed in 25 years. The new plant will be operational by 2015. It is expected to create about 2,500 construction jobs and 165 permanent jobs during the next three years.The new fertiliser plant will produce between 1.5 and two million metric tons of ammonia, urea and urea ammonium nitrate (UAN) a year. It will also produce diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), which is used for reducing emissions in diesel engines.
Aprile Project awarded the logistic and transportation contract on door to door basis.

Aprile Project has been appointed for the transportation of work materials from the delivery points up to destination place, carrying out in accordance with CONTRACTOR’s recommendations:- Shipment by sea by container vessels and/or conventional
vessels;- By air;- By road “all by road”;- By barge and truck;- By rail;- Custom clearance.
The quantity of the cargo is about 1000 TEUs and 50.000 CBM of break bulk.
Critical points: Hard accessibility of jobsite – New river jetty; Mississippi river closing period; Tight delivery window; OS/OW and Heavy lift items up to 830 tons.
