February income was essentially on track and a few of the expenses we ex-pected in January finally hit in February, making February somewhat of a “catch-up” month for expenses. Overall we are still slightly behind budget in income and a bit ahead in expenses. March income is pivotal as it will set the stage for the entire second quarter of the year. Respectfully,

THANK YOU! The Missions committee is pleased to hear from all of you who have stopped at the JUST COFFEE table to express delight in the taste of the freshly brewed JUST COFFEE being served at Fellowship. The sale of this coffee goes to support our CARE and SUP-PORT OUR TROOPS projects. Your support of JUST COFFEE allows the families of the growers and employees of Café Justo to receive medical benefits and sustainable wages. Rural Mexican Communi-ties are being revitalized and families are able to stay to-gether. Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church is now one of many Church Congregations across the United States who is striv-ing to make a positive impact on both sides of the border.

The decrease in illegal migration into Ari-zona saves lives. Please continue to support the Mission through your purchase of JUST COFFEE . ……..Don’t drink coffee but still want to support this project? Please consider the purchase of a bag of JUST COFFEE and donate it back to the church for Fellowship time use.

EASTER GREETINGS FOR THE TROOPS 8 Easter boxes were shipped to Afghanistan mid-March, evenly divided between guys and gals. Nearly 20 handwritten Easter greeting cards were placed inside each box and I thank each and every person who was will-ing to take the time to write a note. Can’t you just envision the smiles on the faces of our 8 deployed sol-diers when they open their boxes and read all those cards. Sure makes one feel all warm and fuzzy in-side. Thank you again one and all for the donations and special thanks to the Board of Deacons for making it possible that these 8 Easter boxes could be sent out. On Sunday, March 11th following services, it was my personal pleasure to be able to meet 2Lt. John Burca, grandson of Violet Wieder. I was able to speak with him and his girlfriend Stephanie for a short while. We tried our best to find a camera to take a pic-ture and as it so happened, the picture that was taken on a cell phone was a little too unfocused to use. John was one of the recipients of some of our Holiday Boxes when he was deployed to Afghanistan. John makes the second soldier I have been able to meet here at Church personally after returning back to the States. He is now stationed in Georgia. And lastly and most important, please remem-ber to keep all of our Troops in your thoughts and prayers. -Donna Sims, Deacon A Veteran is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America' for an amount of 'up to and including HIS/HER life.' ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING

A special offering for One Great Hour of Sharing will be taken on Easter Sunday, April 8th. The ministry of One Great Hour of Sharing is a continuous effort to share God's love with needy people worldwide. The recovery pe-riod after an earthquake, hurri-cane, or tsunami can be long and tedious. Our financial support through this offering helps our neighbors rebuild their lives and homes after such disasters. One Great Hour of Sharing also provides both immediate and long-term assistance to help relieve pov-

erty and hunger. Thank you for your contributions!

Music MinistryMusic MinistryMusic MinistryMusic Ministry

Happy Easter! What a won-derful experience, year after year, studying the journey of Christ, His lessons, His miracles, the foundation of faith as we fol-low these studies with music that brings alive His inspiring message of love, compassion, and truths of who we are, and who we are not.

We celebrate His resurrection with glorious songs of "Alleluia," but, we experience the betrayal by those closest to Him into His death with mu-sic that grabs our souls and wrenches our hearts. There's nothing casual about be-trayal, whether intentional or not. I'm always thankful when Easter morning arrives, and the lilies are in place! Our celebration with music which expresses our faith in His resur-rection, and our gratitude of His suffering for us, and jubilation that we share this to-gether with a community of believers that experience it anew every year. It is truly unique, and uplifting. I must comment on the "Gifts of Women's Sun-day." It was truly a pleasure to have so many women involved in the Ladies Choir. Well done, ladies! What a comfort it was to hear Jackie Miles play her lovely violin solo, with Patsy Knoy accompanying on the pi-ano, and, how beautiful was the selection for the Offertory piece played by Tami Good on the pi-ano. Nicely done! Also, having our young drummer, Victoria, be able to handle the beat entirely through all she was expected to play. It was terrific. The service brought us in touch with God. What more could we ask? I wish to thank, once again, all of those who have been singing, ringing, striking, bowing, strumming, b l o w i n g a n d d a n c i n g t h r o u g h this year. From "Ellingboe" to "Bach" to "Handel," you have been a joy to work with. I know we will be saying goodbye to some of our fabulous, supportive, talented, dependable and faithful people, some of the 60 or so people it takes to make the beautiful music ministry of our church. You have given of your time, week in and week out, rehearsing on a weekly basis, strengthening our sound, with no complaints, hardly; learning new music, more notes, and welcoming new members into our musical fold. You have patiently waited while they get their music

straight, their parts learned and living life together in the best kind of community. Have good trips home, if you have been living part of your year with us and are planning to travel back after Easter, or at the end of this month. Enjoy your weather, your family, your friends, and remember that we'll save your places for you when you re-turn. As for the rest of us, we'll continue our rehearsals on through May, then, we'll enjoy some of your solo's, duets, trios, and more

through our summer months together. Our Choir Fest experience was, as al-ways, a tremendous benefit in nurturing our community. It has been an event in our community for many years. Barb Wyman started it in the early 1990's, with Deanna Fruend and Aggie Kramer, changing the location to each other's churches, and inviting other churches, and including the Community Chorus, to join and experience the sounds of choir's in our small commu-nity. We are grateful and fortunate it con-

tinues, with the Fountain Hills Civic and Cultural Association recognizing the importance of this event in our community and handling the ar-rangements. It was wonderful, also, to have the Fountain Hills Community Band, under the Direc-tion of Dale Larsen, present a free concert in our sanctuary. What a fine sound they have. Music truly provides our hearts and souls with comfort, excitement and joy. For that we are thankful. Deborah Fisher Director of Music Ministries It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto the Thy name, O most High; To show forth thy loving kindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, upon an instrument of 10 strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound. For Thou, Lord, hast made me glad through Thy work: I will triumph in the work of Thy hands. Psalm 92:1-4

Believing is seeing

When the disciples saw Jesus after his resurrec-tion, they believed. But Thomas, who was absent, doubted until he, too, got to see and even touch Jesus. For him, as the others, seeing was believing. But what of us who don’t get to see Jesus in the flesh? If “seeing is believing,” are we out of luck? No. In fact, sometimes it works the opposite way; sometimes “believing is seeing.” Try this: Despite any doubts, choose to believe, trusting the witness of someone who’s seen God at work – a biblical figure or present-day Christian. You’ll be amazed at the love, healing, peace and new life that spring out of troubles. “With the eyes of your heart” (Ephesians 1:18, NRSV), you will see your Lord and your God.

Easter’s promise

“Twas by a path of sorrows drear Christ entered into rest; And shall I look for roses here, Or think that earth is blessed? Heaven’s whitest lilies blow From earth’s sharp crown of woe: Who here his cross can meekly bear, Shall wear the kingly purple there. The Newsletter Newsletter by Communication Resources, Inc

“Bob Anderson” w/piano accompanist

(Singing Impressionist) Voted by People Magazine as “The best singing impression-

ist in show business”. Also inducted into the “Las Vegas

Legends Hall of Fame” in 2000. Who says you can’t please

all the people all the time??? Bob is brilliant at his craft

and it shows on stage. There’s something for all ages with

Bob Anderson’s show, as it not only covers the unforgetta-

ble voices of “The Rat Pack” but branches into the contem-

porary and timeless sounds of Elton John, Stevie Wonder,

Barry Manilow, Tom Jones, Neil Diamond and many more.

He’s also the only “singing impressionist” who will take re-

quests from his audience and without hesitation re-create

that performer to a tee!

“Original Wildcat Jass Band”

(Dixieland & Jazz Show Band)

A “new” yet “vintage” sound to Dixieland & Jazz music cov-

ering styles from the 1920’s on up, along with history

about how the music has changed over the years and how it

differs from city to city. Hence the word “JASS” with two

S’s. No it’s not misspelled. This was the way it was spelled

back in the 1920’s. After this style evolved over the years,

it soon became known as “JAZZ”. We all know that New

Orleans sound , but how does it differ from other big cit-

ies like Chicago and New York and why. It’s not your

“typical” band just playing the same old, same old Dixieland

tunes. Some of you may remember the Barbary Coast Dix-

ieland Band, that we had in our series 3 times in 14 years,

because of the demand to repeat them. Well, this is simi-

lar in the way of it being a top-notch “SHOW BAND”, but

the instrumentation is different. They love what they do

and it shows and your audience will love them too!!!

Second City trained, Patrick Murray, a flawless Ventrilo-

quist, Puppeteer & Humorist - This laugh filled, multi-

cultural show highlights the sexy, sassy, vibrant & outra-

geous observations of this hip comedienne. Lots of family

style, clean & age appropriate humor for all to enjoy. There

also might be a special guest as well.

“New West” (Traditional Western Musical Trio) Musical trio of great traditional “western” swing w/loads

of comedy & delightful parody songs that will have the

audience doubled over in laughter. There are your typical

musicians and then there’s a class above the rest. . . .these

guys fall above that category. The word “consummate

musician” might give you just a smidgen of an idea of what

they can do. We’re so fortunate to have them in our NPA

series.

“Face To Face (The Ultimate Tribute to

Billy Joel & Elton John) Billy Joel and Elton John tribute artists Michael John and

Joey Riedel have joined forces to create The Ultimate

Tribute Show based on the Face to Face Show performed

by Billy Joel and Elton John. The two capture both the

original artists in their new, high energy, interactive Rock

N Roll show. Just like the original tour, each artist per-

forms a solo set and then culminate the show with a Face

to Face set which features both of them playing together

on two pianos trading off lyrics on each song they per-

form. Joey, visually and through his performance, cap-

tures Elton John in the 70’s to current day. He is known

for his captivating entertainment prowess and his unbe-

lievable recreation of Elton’s outrageous costumes. The

Billy Joel – Elton John Ultimate Tribute show is a night of

hit songs, energetic performances, outrageous costumes

and true Rock N Roll at its finest!

“Michael Finney” (Comedy & Magic) Won the prestigious award titled “Academy of Magical Arts Award” in 2004. This award is the equivalent to the

Academy Awards for movie stars. These entertainers are

nominated and voted upon by members and peers of the

craft. Michael Finney was also a finalist on the famous TV

show, “STAR SEARCH” with Ed McMahon in 1986 and has

made numerous appearances on such shows as “Fox’s Comic

Strip Live”, “HBO’s Comics on the Road”, “Sunday Comics

with Lenny Clark”, “Bud Friedman’s An Evening At The Im-

prov.” A “must see” show of clean and appropriate comedy

& magic for all to enjoy. He’s similar to Nick Lewin from

our March of 2011 NPA Series, with his own flare and de-

livery. There are many performers out there that do

stand-up comedy & magic shows. . . .it’s not unique to the

entertainment world, it’s Michael Finney’s presentation

that makes him stand out above the rest. He has a true

gift to meld with an audience immediately and pulls them

into his “web of laughter”. A true side splitting show to

enjoy!!!

A Report from the Finance Committee By John Wyman – Elder and Chairperson What a wonderful feeling it is to be three months into our sec-ond year of recovery and growth as a congregation under the inspired and committed leadership of Pastor Bill and a staff of enthusiastic colleagues! Wonderful progress! Thanks be to God! We live in a universe watched over and cared for by a loving and gracious Deity leaving us free to make choices; and thanks to a congregation that has cared enough to respond to the oppor-tunities and challenges offered, many important concerns have been addressed! Thanks to a concerned and generous community of resident and seasonal worshippers, we are fairly healthy financially and clearly once again a cheerful and energetic assemblage! Isn’t our music program – Celebration Singers, Organ & Piano, Cele-bration Ringers, Pearwood Recorders, Youth Band “Committed”-marvelous? Thanks to the efforts of our Christian Formation and Evangelism leadership, isn’t it delightful to no-tice a modest but perceptible increase in the number of younger families joining the Church? How about the Men’s Valentine Luncheon, the Gifts of Women Sunday service, the CLAF sup-ported fellowship following Church, Pastor Bill’s, Rev Stan’s and Men’s weekly Bible studies, Women’s Hooked On Books,

seasonal Entertainment Series (filing the Sanctuary January through March each year), Mission Ministry “support Our Troops” efforts, Picnic at McDowell Park, the lively Rummage Sale!? Couple this joyful combination of healthy events with the worship and biblical teaching experiences brought to us by Pas-tor Bill throughout the Church calendar year and one can visual-ize much of the promise of new life for those who, as the Pastor noted in last month’s letter, seek God earnestly! Some of you, particularly our seasonal visitors, will be leaving soon for other environs. We care for you greatly, miss you and look forward to your return next year! Take good care of your-selves and please don’t forget your Church home away from home! I know you all will understand that your Brother-in-Christ John Skewes is only being a dutiful Chairperson when he asks that you remember to keep FHPC Pledge and Contribution require-ments in mind throughout the late spring, summer and early autumn. Your loving and gen-erous attention here will help assure the support and well-being of the spiritual commu-nity that has become so impor-tant to our shared experience!

Lesson 9 — April 26, 2012

Mary Alice Bivens was gathering details for Hands On Servants and came back with great information to share! Let her know if you wish to become involved in this worthwhile mission! Five people (including two men) from FHPC had a very successful and inspiring experience in packing bags for the Weekender Food Bag Program in Mesa. Men are welcome because there are some heavy tasks. Forty two (42) bags, each costing $5, are now needed to meet the need in Foun-tain Hills. PW is supporting Church of the Ascension with this project by providing volunteers to pack and deliver bags. Mary Alice provided information on Dignity House which has one site for women and children and another for men who are former prostitutes and are trying to change their lives. Currently we are asking for the entire church to keep this ministry in prayer – daily! Thanks. Barbara Oakeson wants to remind you she has received the PWP 2012-13 Reading List and will make copies for dis-tribution. Let the Reading Begin!

A BIG THANK YOU goes to all the women who participated in the Women’s Service on March 18th. Terry Martin is specially to be commended for her excellent mes-sage, and the biblical women who supported her added greatly to the impact of Terry’s talk. Those tak-ing biblical parts included Melissa Fast as Abigail, Heather Vawter as Queen Esther, Ruby Pearson as Naomi, Linda Ma-ples as Ruth, Arlene Johnson as the Woman at the Well, Stephanie McWethy as the Sinful Woman, Lisa Kern as Bath-sheba, and Susan Lickman as Martha. Also contributing to the success of the service were Maria Berry and Jo Nelson as wardrobe mistresses and Tami Good with her prayer and lovely piano solo during the offertory. Jackie Miles and Patsy Knoy added to the reverent mood with their rendition of “Come follow Me” on violin and piano. Letha Neely, Debbie Di Bernardi, Ilene Berg and Terry Martin led various parts of the service and Debbie Fisher directed the women’s choir in a lively rendition of the old song “He Never Failed Me Yet”, assisted by soloist Paula Eberspacher, Dorothy Parris on piano and Caryl Bates on organ. The morning finished with the congregation singing a hand -clapping version of “Standin’ in the Need of Prayer” with solos contributed by Sandi Thompson and Mary Alice Bivens. Once again, a big thanks to all these participants for their efforts and help in making this another successful Women’s Service. - Barb Wyman, Women’s Service Coordinator

“In the Garden” In 1912, as Charles Austin Miles grabbed his Bible, it opened to John 20; reading the ac-count of Mary Magdalene outside the garden tomb where Jesus’ body had been laid. Miles felt powerfully that he was there. Inspired, he quickly wrote the poem “In the Garden” and later composed the music. This hymn might seem sentimental and trite, if understood to refer to just any garden. But the song takes on profound meaning when recognized as Mary’s personal encounter with the living Lord. And he walks with me, and he talks with me, And he tells me I am his own, And the joy we share as we tarry there, None other has ever known! The Newsletter Newsletter by Communication Resources, Inc

ATTENTION FHPC WOMEN !

If you missed the opportunity to “Spring Clean” your closet in time for the recent Rummage Sale – you have another chance. On Friday, April 27 th between 8:30 & 9:00 am, PW gals will meet in the Church parking lot to collect your usable glad-rags and take them to The Clothes Silo in Phoenix. Your donations are tax-deductible and are greatly appreciated by the women who need new outfits. The Clothes Silo is a non-profit organi-zation serving women in need of becoming self-sufficient as they re-enter the work force and who are recovering from difficult and extenuating cir-cumstances. Now is the time to purge your closets of those seldom worn clothes and put them to good use. Put them in plastic bags, boxes or leave them on hangers and we will collect them all and again help to fill the racks at The Clothes Silo.

'What Would Jesus Do' bumper sticker...

The light turned yellow, just in front of him. He did the right thing by stopping at the crosswalk even though he could’ve beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection. The tailgating woman was furious and honked her horn, screaming in frustration, as she missed her chance to get through the intersection, dropping her cell phone and makeup. As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her win-dow and looked up into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer ordered her to exit her car with her hands up. He took her to the police station where she was searched, fingerprinted, photographed, and placed in a holding cell. After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened the door. She was escorted back to the book-ing desk where the arresting officer was waiting with her personal effects. He said, ''I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping off the guy in front of you and cussing a blue streak at him. I noticed the 'What Would Jesus Do' bumper sticker, the 'Choose Life' license plate holder, the 'Follow Me to Sunday-School' bumper sticker, and the chrome-plated Christian fish emblem on the trunk, so naturally....I assumed you had stolen the car.'' ...Priceless.

Christian Formation

Terri Schmidt, Christian Formation Elder

~Laugh Loudly~Laugh Long ~ Laugh Wholly~

Another month is here and again I want to tell you of the exciting things happening in Christian Formation. We are so lucky to have so many people who are interested in helping us as we plan and accomplish what we are trying to do here at Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church. I am so grate-ful for all of the people who are so willing to step up and help with our projects. God has truly blessed our Church with “heart and soul”. Thank you to all of you who are so willing and able to help!

Pastor Bill’s Bible Study We have done it!!!!! We have finished our study of Mark. This has been the most unique and exciting

journey. Unique in the fact that we took it so slow and poured over the words so that we truly understood what

Mark was trying to tell us. Now we will take on the study of John, but only after we have a brief rest. There will be no Bible Study on April 1st and April 8th, due to Pastor Bill’s obligations to Fort McDowell’s Church as well as April 15th. Please feel free to join us at 10:30 in the Adult Center, after you have joined us for fellowship.

Wednesday Evening Family Night

We continue our Lenten series “Claiming Our Faith”. We may go over lent a week or two to make up for the weeks that we missed and didn’t get it all in. We are having the most interesting discussions, as well as learning more about the Church’s stance on some modern day issues. We are learning what it means to claim our faith by our actions. The Elementary Kid-Community and the teens have been busy

with their curriculum and activities. Sandy Heunisch has been faithful to befriend the elementary kids. We are praying and seeking 2-3 more people to join her to take the program to the next level. Kristi and Tyson Robinson are busy in the Youth Center with the teens and the Hungry for the Kingdom cur-riculum and activities. Debby DeBer-nardi is thankful for such wonderful, relational leaders! Plus we had the teens stuffing 403 candy eggs for the Easter Egg Hunt on Resurrection Sun-day. We all gather in the Fellowship Center for a meal together at 5:45pm. After dinner we divide and go to our own classes. We are not having the meals catered by Phil’s Filling Station any longer. The Christian Formation Committee decided we were losing money having our meals catered. We will try having Wednesday night Pizza and salad for awhile. The cost will still be $5.00 per person. Come join your family and friends for dinner and stud-ies.

Koffee Klatch Are your Tuesday mornings free? Do you want something fun to do? Come and join Rev. Stan Jones and his fol-lowers for Koffee Klatch. This class begins Tuesday mornings at 9:00am in the Adult Center. They discuss every-day things as well as books and studies out of the Bible. They have very in depth and great discussions, so come on in and join them.

Men’s Bible Study Are you interested in learning more about Apostle Paul? Then you may be interested in joining the men’s study on Thursday mornings in the Adult Center. John Bivens is there (with the coffee go-ing) and ready to lead you in this study. This group of men meets at 7:00am on Thursday in the Adult Center; they will gladly make room for more men to join them.

Vacation Bible School “Operation Overboard” will be June 18th through June 22nd. We will be asking for volunteers again this year to help with Vacation Bible School. We have had several basic meetings to get our “fish in a row” if you will. More meetings will be held to go over duties and our plans for the school; these will be announced at a later date. June 11th will be pre- registration. This pre-registration will be held at the Splash Park in Fountain Park. This will be a Monday afternoon from 4:30- 6:30pm. This will give the kids and adults a little taste of the planned curriculum. If you have family or friends who would love to send their children to VBS, keep us in mind. Keep looking for updates in the bulletins and newsletters to come. Remember, for children that need scholarships, we do have them.

Easter Egg Hunt

We will be having our Easter Egg Hunt again for the little ones. This will be held as previously, between Church Ser-vices and our Easter Brunch. We will have divided areas again for the children. The little ones up to two will be in the playground area, while the older ones up to 6th grade will be in the Biblical Gar-den area. We are having some new things this year; we will have some Golden Eggs. These will have somehing other than candy inside. The lucky kids will come to the Fellowship Center to redeem their egg for an Easter prize. We will also have a cross craft, story, and playhouse coloring area set up in the Fellowship Center to further the message of the resurrection for the younger ones and interact with parents. This should make for an exciting day. As I end yet another newsletter, I want to say “God is great and alive in Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church.” I see so many of you giving to the church of your time and selves in so many ways. May God bless you all and may He con-tinue to give us all the strength we need to accomplish what we can for the Glory of God.

What an opportunity for our teens and adults to grow spiritually and in leadership through meeting the needs of people. Teens will complete a work project focusing on home restoration and lead an outreach ministry for the local Navajo children. Both offer the opportunity to minister to the many physical and spiritual needs of the Navajo Nation, home to one of the poorest people groups in America.

We will be the ONLY group on site. Each member, and the group as a whole, will be challenged to their next spiritual and leader-ship level!

The Hole in Our Gospel by Richard Stearns During our worship service on Feb-ruary 12, the youth of our church spoke about their upcoming partici-pation in World Vision’s 30 hour

Famine on Feb. 24 and 25. Their ending prayer was, “Lord let my heart be broken by the things that break the heart of God.” This same prayer was offered up by Bob Pierce when he founded World Vision International in 1950. At that time the concern was primarily for helping children orphaned by the Korean War. By the mid-1960s World Vision was caring for over 65,000 children in twenty countries. Today, World Vision serves in nearly one hundred countries and has become a major leader in feeding and caring for children around the world. Having just finished reading The Hole in Our Gospel by Richard Stearns, president of World Vision U.S., I was already convinced about the worthiness of the work of this Chris-tian relief and development organization.

In 1998 Richard Stearns was CEO of Lenox Corporation, producer of fine china, crystal and giftware. He had suc-ceeded well in business and lived a comfortable life with his wife and five children. When he received a call asking him to become president of World Vision U.S., he had many reasons why this was not the job for him. He had no desire to travel to Africa to see the needs of the hundreds of children who were undernourished and often without parents who had died from AIDS. But through much prayer and encouragement from fellow Christians, that is exactly what he eventually did.

Stearns began reading the Bible with greater intensity and as he again read the parable of the rich young ruler, he could suddenly see himself in that same spot before Jesus. He wanted to run for the scissors and cut Jesus’ words out of his Bible, on the outside the man was doing all the right things, but Jesus could see that his heart was divided.

When we say that we want to be His disciple, yet attach a list of conditions, Jesus refuses to accept our terms. His terms involve unconditional surrender. Are you (am I) willing to be open to God’s will for your (my) life? Are we willing to listen and hear God’s voice when he calls us to do His will by helping the poor, feeding the hungry, loving our neighbor: Matthew 25 Tells of the future Day of Judgment when Christ returns to earth and the people are divided according to whether they truly fulfilled His commandments?

A modern version of his condemnation might read like this: For I was hungry, while you had all you needed. I was thirsty, but you drank bottled water. I was a stranger, and you wanted me deported. I needed clothes, but you wanted MORE clothes. I was sick, and you pointed out the behaviors that led to my sickness. I was in prison, and you said I was getting what I deserved. Is this another passage that would be easy to cut from our Bibles? How many holes might we find in our own Bible if we read it more carefully? There are some wonderful quotations at the beginning of each chapter which you will love. I recommend it as a rewarding read!

Hospitalized? Call the church!

If you are sick, hospitalized or home recovering from ill-ness, we want you to call the church and let us know! In a con-gregation like ours where people leave in droves for extended summer months, it is easy for the staff, elders and deacons to assume, when we don’t see someone, that they are simply “vacationing away”. The truth is that some of you are sick and we are not aware of it. You can help us by simply letting one of the staff know of your situation. We have an excellent support system in place due to the diligent efforts of our deacons. Help us serve you by communicating your situation.

A reason to celebrate In rural Nebraska in the early 20th century, three of the four Koontz children died of diphtheria in one week. On the following Easter morning, the parents and surviving child attended church. Because Mr. Koontz was Sunday School Superintendent, he read aloud the Easter message. Although many people wept, he and his wife stayed calm. Later, a boy walking home said, “The Koontzes must really believe the Easter story.” His father answered, “All Christians do.” The boy replied, “Not the way they do!” -Homiletics The Newsletter Newsletter by Communication Resources, Inc
