From the Pastor:

Here we are! It’s Palm Sunday, the beginning of the holiest week of the year. Drink in these days to discover what tremendous love God has for you! Consider that He would hand over Himself in such humility for you! What love He has for you! What love He has for us! How many people in the world have no idea today how much they are loved by their Creator? This week is for us to look at Jesus on the cross and let His gaze pierce our hearts with the tremendous gift of His mercy – something so loving, so beyond human understanding. The world needs us to let His life, death, and resurrection free us out of the chains of human weakness and sin and be free to love with His love. I am praying that there can be great renewal this week for you. Encounter our Lord, in the sacrament of Reconciliation, in the Eucha-rist, in His Word in Scripture. Take time to pray this week. Set a new holy habit or two, too, if you can. Find a time to give to Him in prayer and He will make use of it and you for the salvation of souls, including your own. God bless your Holy Week! I hope to see you often this week! All are welcome. And always remember to invite a friend.

With love and Prayers, Fr. Francis

+CHRISM MASS

TUES., APRIL 11TH

ROCKLAND COACH BUS AVAILABLE

The Mass of Chrism, Tuesday, April 11th, is a tradition which goes all the way back to the 5th century of our church. This, once a year, celebration manifests the unity of the priests with their bishop. This is an opportunity to celebrate Holy Mass with our Cardinal Archbish-op Timothy Dolan, his brother bishops and hundreds of our priests and deacons in our beautifully restored Cathedral of Saint Patrick.

During the Mass, the Cardinal will bless three sacred oils, the Oil of Catechumens, the Oil of the Sick and Holy Chrism. These oils will be used in the administration of the sacraments throughout the entire Archdiocese during the upcoming year.

The faithful of our Rockland Parishes are urged to make their attendance at this very beautiful as well as unique mass of Chrism a special part of their preparation for Easter.

For your convenience, the Rockland Deanery is sponsoring a com-fortable coach bus which will be departing from the, centrally locat-ed, St. Francis of Assisi parking lot, Parrott Road, West Nyack, at 1 PM on Tuesday. The 4:00 PM mass traditionally ends by around 5:15 PM and everyone will immediately the re-board the bus for the ride home. As in the past, a special block of seats has been reserved for our Rockland County bus contingent.

Those who are interested in attending the Chrism Mass or else would like further information are asked to contact the Deanery Office (St. Aedan’s) at 845-735-7405. You may confirm your seat reservation (first come - first served) by mailing or else dropping off your (non-refundable) $20 check (same as previous years) made payable to Saint Aedan Church.

March 26, 2017 $7028.

(This weekend in 2016 was Easter and will be reported with the 2017 Easter Sun-day collection)

Thank you for your continued generosity. Envelopes provide an easy way to keep track of your annual charitable contributions.

Please contact the rectory if you would like to use them.

However, if you are not using the envelopes you currently re-ceive because you make your contribution using another meth-

od, PLEASE NOTIFY the Parish Office to discontinue them. Since printing each set of envelopes is an expense to the parish, we

would appreciate the opportunity to make that savings. Thank you!

Five Million Rosaries ! The rosary is a very powerful weapon in our fight against sin and evil. Our Blessed Virgin Mary, during the ap-paritions at Fatima, asked us to pray the rosary every day to obtain peace in our world. In this year, 2017, the 100th anniversary of the apparitions at Fatima, there is a movement underway to say 5

million rosaries for our country. Would you like to join in this holy endeavor? To learn about the rosary and to pledge to say your rosary, please visit: dynamiccatholic.com/5-million-rosaries/

The Example of St. Philip Neri:

A Commentary on Humility & Reconciliation…

*If Philip heard of anyone having committed a crime, he would say, "Thank God that I have not done worse."

*At confession he would shed abundance of tears, and say, "I have never done a good action."

*When a penitent showed that she could not bear the rudeness shown towards him by certain persons who were under great obligations to him, he answered her, "If I were humble, God would not send this to me."

*When one of his spiritual children said to him, "Father, I wish to have something of yours for devotion, for I know you are a Saint," he turned to her with a face full of anger, and broke out into these words: "Begone with you! I am a devil, and not a saint."

*To another who said to him, "Father, a temptation has come to me to think that you are not what the world takes you for," he made answer: "Be sure of this, that I am a man like my neighbours, and nothing more."

*If he heard of any who had a good opinion of him, he used to say, "O poor me! how many poor girls will be greater in Para-dise than I shall be!"

*He avoided all marks of honour. He could not bear to receive any signs of respect. When people wished to touch his clothes, and knelt as he passed by, he used to say, "Get up! get out of my way!" He did not like people to kiss his hand; though he sometimes let them do so, lest he should hurt their feelings.

*He could not bear two-faced persons; as for liars, he could not endure them, and was continually reminding his spiritual chil-dren to avoid them as they would a pestilence.

*He always asked advice, even on affairs of minor importance. His constant counsel to his penitents was, that they should not trust in themselves, but always take the advice of others, and get as many prayers as they could.

*He took great pleasure in being lightly esteemed, nay, even despised.

*He had a most pleasant manner of transacting business with others, great sweetness in conversation, and was full of com-passion and consideration.

*He had always a dislike to speak of himself. The phrases "I said," "I did," were rarely in his mouth. He exhorted others never to make a display of themselves, especially in those things which tended to their credit, whether in earnest or in joke.

*As St. John the Evangelist, when old, was continually saying, "Little children, love one another," so Philip was ever repeating his favourite lesson, "Be humble; think little of yourselves."

*He said that if we did a good work, and another took the credit of it to himself, we ought to rejoice and thank God.
