The Example EssayThe EXAMPLE essay refers to the use of specific instances to illustrate, clarify, or back up a point. • The EXAMPLE essay may be used in conjunction with other

forms of essay. For instance, a persuasive essay on the ways in which people no longer show respect.

• The EXAMPLE essay needs to provide RELEVANT examples that pertain to the main topic/thesis.

• Use EMPHATIC order, especially if you are wanting to convince or persuade. You start with the example of LEAST impact and end with the example of MOST impact.

• Potential transitional words and phrases: after all, for example (use sparingly), for instance, in addition, indeed, in other words, moreover, of course, particularly, specifically.
