Lee’s Story

Lee Pesky struggled with a learning disability

throughout his life. He faced numerous obstacles to

learning and academic success, and his family

struggled to find support and services to help him.

Once the root causes of his challenges were

understood, Lee was able to get the help he

needed to succeed in school, complete college, and

become a business owner. Lee unexpectedly passed

away in 1995.

To honor Lee’s legacy, his parents, Alan and Wendy

Pesky, founded Lee Pesky Learning Center to serve

as a beacon for other families who experienced

similar challenges.

Since 1997, Lee Pesky Learning Center has

provided specialized services for students who, like

Lee, can overcome their obstacles to learning and

thrive.

About the Event

Each year, we host the Pathways to Learning Event to

unite our community of parents, alumni, friends,

educators, researchers, businesses, and investors in

support of the work we do. This evening is an

opportunity to learn more about the scientific

advancements that are being made in the field of

learning and attention challenges and how we are

working to put these advancements into action.

This year’s event will be held on Wednesday, April 8,

2020. The event will begin with a reception in the lobby

of Holland & Hart law offices, then will move to the

Zions Bank Ballroom for dinner with our speakers. This

evening of celebration, learning, and support of LPLC

will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Last year, we raised over $75,000 to support students,

families, and educators! This year, we hope you will join

us in reaching our new goal of $85,000 to create even

more pathways to learning.

Keynote Speaker

Dr. Donald Compton

Research, Dr. Compton’s research examines

individual differences in children’s reading

development and the identification and

treatment of children with reading disabilities.

He joined FCRR in 2015, having served as

Professor and Chair of Special Education and a

John F. Kennedy Center Investigator at Peabody

College, Vanderbilt University.
