1887 - 2015 Celebrating 128 Years
Leading More & More People
to a Life Changing Connection with Jesus Christ
April 1, 2015 VOLUME XLIV NUMBER 6
April 3
6:30 p.m.
in the Gym
We will be hosting a unique Good
Friday Service. Experience with all
of your senses what happened that
dark night so long ago. This service
is designed for adults, youth and
elementary age children. A nursery
and preschool childcare will be
available. This is a great event to
invite friends, neighbors, and
family.
My wife Jana and I are excited that the Formula 1 and IndyCar racing seasons are back. We enjoy watching the weekend races and follow the stories about the drivers and teams throughout the racing season. Just as the drivers rely on a powerful engine to get them and
their cars to the finish line, we too rely on a driving force that gets us to our finish line. Romans 8 reads, “The law was without power, because the law was made weak by our sinful selves. But God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son to earth with the same human life that others use for sin. By sending his Son to be an offering for sin, God used a human life to destroy sin. He did this so that we could be the kind of people the law correctly wants us to be. Now we do not live following our sinful selves, but we live following the Spirit. Those who live following their sinful selves think only about things that their sinful selves want. But those who live following the Spirit are thinking about the things the Spirit wants them to do.” Romans 8:3-5 The Spirit is the engine that drives us. Let’s let the Spirit be our driving force behind the things we do as a church and in our daily lives. We had a great night of vision recently and I hope you are as excited as I am about the future of Hickory Valley Christian Church. As we continue to seek out opportunities and move forward we must rely on the Spirit as the driving force, the engine behind everything we do. Praise God that He has given us His Spirit! “Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” Galatians 5:25

Who Are You Sundays
Have you ever met someone at church
and could not remember their name, or in
greeting people you just can’t put a name
to a face? As HVCC grows we want to do
our best to make everyone feel welcome
and at home. In order to help, we are
having “Who Are You Sundays” April 5
and April 12. We will have tables set up
at each entrance with stick-on name
tags. Everyone is encourage to write
their name and wear these tags. It is a
simple gesture that we hope will be
helpful.
