Third Sunday of Easter

May 1, 2020 - May 1, 2021 Bishop Callahan invites all to celebrate and pray with him to St. Joseph the Workman on May 1 via live streamed Mass beginning at 12:00 noon, from the Cathedral: diolc.org/live. This Mass will begin a special year of thanksgiving, petition, and honor to St. Joseph. In the year ahead, the diocese will offer prayers for his blessings upon our families (Patron Saint of Husbands, Fathers, and Families), our beloved dead (Patron Saint of a Happy Death), and the special needs of our Diocese (Patron Saint of the Universal Church). As we make our way through the year, several events, prayers and novenas will be available.

The church is available for prayer: Tuesday-Friday: 9 AM-5 PM Saturday: Noon-5 PM Sunday: 7 AM-Noon Individual Confessions are available in the Mothers Room: Saturdays: 3-4 PM Sundays: 9-10 AM Wednesdays: 4-5 PM Bulletins and hand sanitizers are available.

Many have enjoyed watching Mass on KQEG (Channel 5 on Charter; Channel 4 on CenturyLink). These Masses need to be pre-recorded since KQEG is not able to broadcast it "live." Therefore, we will continue to record weekend Mass for broadcast until the regular weekend Mass schedule resumes in church.

Sunday Mass: 4 PM Saturday & 10 AM Sunday on KQEG.

Sunday Mass: 4 PM Saturday posted on our website.

Tues - Fri Mass: 7:30 AM Live Streamed on our website.

All scheduled events have been cancelled through May 26, including the May 14 Chicken-Que; however, these events may be rescheduled.

The Parish Office continues to be open Tuesdays – Fridays from 8 AM – 3 PM. For the sake of our employees and those for whom they care, we are encouraging phone and email contact as much as possible. No more than 2 people are allowed inside the office lobby for social distancing. Scrip is still available.

Mite Box Collection At the beginning of Lent, Religious Education students received their Mite box to collect money for the Missionary Childhood Association. With classes cancelled due to COVID-19, there wasn't an opportunity to collect them in class. We are now collecting the Mite boxes. There will be a basket in the Parish Office where you can place your Mite box during office hours (Tuesday-Friday 8am-3pm). And on the Ushers Table in the back of church. (See “Private Prayer” hours.) Thank you for being generous! Many children will benefit from this collection, as the Missionary Childhood Association helps finance about 3,000 projects per year worldwide.

New Parishioners MMOC is delighted to welcome Jeanne Goody to the parish. Welcome to the Waters of Baptism Congratulations to Griffin Langston Ludlow, Graham Francis Ludlow, and Brooks Elliot Westpfahl who were baptized on April 19! We welcome them to God’s family with great joy! Requiescant in Pace Please pray for the repose of the soul of Connie Zischke. Our prayers and sincere sympathy are extended to the family and friends who mourn their loss. Eternal rest grant onto her, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon her.

April 26, 2020

April 22, 2020 Dear Friends in Christ, Last week I shared some (efforts at) humor as a way to relieve some “pandemic stress.” I received an interesting email from a friend; even though I had read the joke a long time ago, it still made me smile. Jesus and Satan were having an on-going argument about who was better on the computer. They had been go-ing at it for days, and frankly God was tired of hearing all the bickering. Finally fed up, God said, "THAT'S IT! I have had enough. I am going to set up a test that will run for two hours, and from those results, I will judge who does the better job." So, Satan and Jesus sat down at the keyboards and typed away. They moused. They faxed. They e-mailed. They e-mailed with attachments. They downloaded. They did spreadsheets! They wrote reports. They created labels and cards. They created charts and graphs. They did some genealogy reports. They did every job known to man. Jesus worked with heavenly efficiency and Satan was faster than hell. Then, ten minutes before their time was up, lightning suddenly flashed across the sky, thunder rolled, rain poured, and, of course, the power went off. Satan stared at his blank screen and screamed every curse word known in the underworld. Jesus just sighed. Finally, the electricity came back on, and each of them restarted their computers. Satan started searching franti-cally, screaming: "It's gone! It's all GONE! I lost everything when the power went out!" Meanwhile, Jesus quietly started printing out all of his files from the past two hours of work. Satan observed this and became irate. "Wait!" he screamed. "That's not fair! He cheated! How come he has all his work and I don't have any?" God just shrugged and said, “JESUS SAVES.” Let’s embrace the Easter Season and Spring weather, despite the limitations of Safer at Home and the slow re-opening of Badger Bounce Back. Remember, “JESUS SAVES!” And His saving presence is at work in us – until we gather together again!

for another time. Most merciful and Triune God, We come to you in our weakness. We come to you in our fear. We come to you with trust. For you alone are our hope. We place before you the disease present in our world. We turn to you in our time of need. Bring wisdom to doctors. Give understanding to scientists. Endow caregivers with compassion and generosity. Bring healing to those who are ill. Protect those who are most at risk. Give comfort to those who have lost a loved one. Welcome those who have died into your eternal home. Stabilize our communities. Unite us in our compassion. Remove all fear from our hearts. Fill us with confidence in your care. Jesus, I trust in you. Jesus, I trust in you. Jesus, I trust in you. Amen.

Building Our Future Together This week we have a photo update of the re-roofing project … “Sealing the Envelope.” The first picture was taken during early Holy Week. It is a unique snapshot in time as it shows (from left to right) the original parapet with exposed top; the mid-section with the rubber membrane pulled over the parapet top; and the far right side showing the “cap” having been placed over the membrane that covered the parapet.

The second picture, taken during Easter Week, shows the same side of church with the cap trimmed, sealed, and finished from one end to the other. This installa-tion accomplished one of the objectives in the project by having the rubber membrane installed in a seam-less continuum from the flat roof, up and over the top of the parapet and sealed in place by a cap. This will protect against water infiltration along the top of the interior walls.

Please remember to keep the safety of all project workers, as well as our parish, in your prayers as we continue to Build Our Future Together.

AN ACT OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the

Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to

receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You

sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I

embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to

be separated from You. Amen.
