It was great to be with friends and learn some fun and even medicinal facts about some of your favorite cocktails. Immense thanks and gratitude to the team that made it all possible! To Janet Viskovich for organizing, Laura Rosen, for her technical expertise and a very special thank you to our amateur mixologist, Eileen Faas! What wonderful talented women we have in HLWG! Our next HLWG General Membership meeting will take place on Thursday, April 22 at 7:00pm. This meeting will be offered in-person and virtual. There will be a very short general meeting before the live presentation of “The Indigo Girl”, Eliza Lucas Pinckney, by Peggy Pickett, a local Living History Interpreter. This will be a fascinating presentation. HLWG will be offering a Spring Floral Demonstration presented by Sweet Bay on Thursday, April 29 at 10:30 AM. Maggie from Sweet Bay in Beaufort will demonstrate lifelike everlasting floral arrangements that will enhance your home’s decor. This presentation is an in-person event on the lawn outside the Lakeview Room. This is just a few of the variety of events and activities HLWG is offering to its members. There are more events and activities in the planning stages, so be sure to check your email and the HLWG website for all the latest upcoming information. Social Director Update

Our first HLWG Virtual Cocktail Party was held of March 25th. It was a

wonderful evening of cocktail recipes and interesting information. Specialthanks to Eileen Faas, our wonderful mixologist for the evening. Additionalthanks to Laura Rosen for all her work on the technical side of the event andfor the Committee for the help and support. This event was a huge successdue to the help and guidance of these great ladies. Schedule of Upcoming Events:

April 22 @ 7 PM: Short General Meeting followed by a live historicalinterpretation of Indigo Girl by Peggy Pickett. Registration informationwas emailed to members on March 29th. If you did not receive a copy,please let me know.April 29 @10:30 AM: Spring Floral Demonstration by Maggie fromSweet Bay, Beaufort. Watch for registration flyer being emailed soon.May 13 Bunco in the Parking Lot. More information including timecoming in the next few weeks.

We are additionally working on other programs for our members so be sure tocheck your emails for upcoming event dates! Interest Groups

The Daytime Bridge group is looking for a co-chair to help in the coordinationand communication among the group. The Daytime bridge is still not officiallymeeting due to Covid-19 concerns, but are looking for a volunteer to help thegroup get up and running when safe to do so. To donate your time or for moreinformation please contact Nancy Crom or Pam Brotschul.

Due to lack of interest and without a chairperson to organize this group, wesadly announce that the HLWG Art Group will be discontinued effectiveimmediately. We will happily revisit Art as a special interest group in the futureif someone is interested in reinventing it. For information on how to propose anew interest group, please contact Nancy Crom.

Book ClubThe book group had another lively book discussion in March. Due to theweather, we masked up and met on the screened porch. We will be discussingLilac Girls in April. Click here for additional book club dates, titles andsuggested moderator format.

Needlework GroupThe needlework group would love to have you join us in April. Just bring a chairand any project you’re working on...knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, handquilting, etc., all while enjoying the camaraderie of fellow needle workers. Wemet in March on Linda’s driveway, and we are hopeful to be able to do thatagain in April. Scrapbooking & CardmakingThe Scrapbooking/Cardmaking group is optimistic about being able to meetsoon, in person, after so long! In the meantime, we are creating wonderfulprojects at home! Some of us just finished a Zoom session to make someadorable Easter Cards, so we are ready for Easter and spring! The Bunny cardwas easy to assemble as was the pretty Tri-Fold card. For a fun card we puttogether an Easter Egg Box card! Hopefully the recipients will enjoy thesecreations as much as we did putting them together! As things improve here inBeaufort County and Hampton Lake, we anxiously await getting together inperson. Happy Spring to all!

GolfThe Nine Hole Golfers were off to a great

start in March with 24 ladies participatingin a low putts game for our first outing. Bytaking advantage of the lower springtemperatures with afternoon tee times, wewere able to play a new course for ourgroup, Dolphin Head, in Hilton HeadPlantation. Congratulations to CathyBayer and Paula Stechschulte in the lowputts game.

For our second outing in March we played on a picture-perfect golf day at OldSouth Golf Links. Twenty ladies participated in a step-aside team scramble.Congratulations go to our first place team of Deb Wilhelm, Sharon Lumadue,Holly Page and Sue Wood with a score of 41!

The nine hole golf group plays at various area courses on the 2nd and 4thWednesday of each month. If you are interested in joining our group contacteither Jan Bristow or Cathy Bayer.

Breakfast ClubThe Breakfast Group is hoping to get back on track with aBreakfast outing in April. Please watch for an email!

Who's New?Member Spotlight – Welcome to our new members!

Susan Handzel and her husband, Dave moved into their new home at 399Castaway Drive. They are from Washingtonville, New York. Susan is a retiredteacher who still does part-time intervention tutoring. She is interesting in yoga,walking and learning to play pickleball.

Waterview Court (#53) is home to Anne Casey and Charles Diamond. She is aretired Physician – Radiologist. Anne has lived in Tarrytown and White Plains,New York, as well as Bethesda, Maryland and Philadelphia,Pennsylvania. Anne has volunteered her time with her children’s schoolfundraisers and the Multiple Sclerosis Society. She also served on the Board ofDirectors of the Providence Rest Nursing Home. Now that Anne has some freetime, she would like to pursue yoga, cooking, reading, billiards and Mahjong.

Rosa McGeehin is a retired registered nurse who has lived in Houston,Columbus, Denver, Atlanta, Bradenton and Hilton Head. She now resides at 15

Driftwood Court, W with her husband, Mike. Rosa has been active in Quilts forKids, Tiny Stitches, and the Hilton Head Photography Club where she servedas a Board member. Hopefully she’ll be able to spend some time pursuing hermany interests that include photography, kayaking, pickleball, crafts, cricut,acrylic painting and birds.

Pamela Giannone moved in across the street from Rosa at 14 Driftwood Court,W. She comes to Hampton Lake from NYC, Westchester County, New York,and Milford, Connecticut. Pamela had a multifaceted career in corporate realestate and facilities management within the liquor industry. During her careerPamela found time to work with reading programs for children. Now that she’sretired, Pamela can spend some time kayaking, exercising, playing games,doing crosswords, reading and traveling.

Hampton Lake Crossing (#171) is now home to Lorry Stiles and Steve. Beforemoving to Hampton Lake, they enjoyed spending time at their summer home inGreen Bay, Wisconsin. Lorry is a retired Reading Specialist/LiteracyCoordinator. She also served as President, Vice President and Treasurer ofP.E.O., as well as the President of Wisconsin Title I Association. Lorry can nowspend her free time enjoying reading, knitting, theater, travel and bridge.

Shari Schulweis and her husband Larry moved to their new home at 20 LittlePine Court from Nanuet, New York. She is still working as a FinancialController. Hopefully, Shari can find some time to enjoy her interests – biking,walking, puzzles and books.

Bucks County, in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was the previoushome of Nancy Fell. She and her husband, Jim, now reside at 24 HeartwoodCourt. Nancy spent her career as a registered nurse. Now that she’s retired,Nancy can carve out some time for tennis, biking, golf and crafts.
