RAISE YOUR HAND
Only 1 in 3 kids have the skills they need to thrive. 4-H is asking the millions of 4-H alumni across the
nation to Raise Y our Hand and Pay It Forward to empower the next generation of True Leaders.
Joining is easy:
1. Raise Your Hand – Complete the form at this link http://4-h.org/raise-your-hand/ to show your
pride as a 4-H alum.
2. Compete for your state – Raising your hand is a vote towards a $20,000, $10,000 or $5,000
award for the states with the most alumni hands raised.
3. Pay it Forward – Tweet, post and share your #4HGrown experience or support and tag fellow
alumni asking them to raise their hands for their state at 4-H.org/RaiseYourHand.
Why Alumni?
4-H gives kids the opportunity to learn by doing, grow from
failure and develop the skills they need to handle what life
throws their way. No one knows this better than you, our
alumni, who have experienced our programs firsthand. We
need your help to bring the same experience and skills to
youth today. Show your 4-H pride and help bring the same
opportunities to kids in your community and nationwide.
TAP INTO IT
Nearly 200,000 Wisconsinites tap into UW Colleges and Extension resources every day. Each one has a
story—about a class that opened doors, a program that inspired, or a community partner who earned their
trust. And every one of those stories can have a positive impact on the future of UW Colleges and
Extension, in your hometown and all over our state.
SO WHAT'S YOUR STORY? Help us tell our story by sharing yours. Use it to tell us how the
people and programs of UW-Extension have helped you learn, grow, or succeed. Visit https://uwcx.org
and tell your story today!

month or two before the event date. This way we can publicize
these events to other clubs and members. Tracy can be emailed
4-H NEWSLETTER ARTICLES need to be into the office by the 15th of each month. Be sure to
get secretary information to us by this date. The newsletter goes
to print after the 15th.
USE OF NAME & EMBLEM All clubs received the guidelines for the use of the name and
emblem. If you need another copy, let Marie know.
If you are having anything printed (Club t-shirts, mugs, etc.) your
design must be approved. Submit your design to Marie BEFORE
you have your items made.
CO-BRANDING LOGO UW-Extension has released new guidelines for branding and logo
use, including new guidelines for co-branding the UW-Extension
logo and the 4-H Clover. The clover should always appear with
the UW-Extension logo on all printed materials, including
banners, displays and clothing.
There are two versions of the co-branded logo available at:
http://blogs.ces.uwex.edu/4hmarketing/
These versions are great for posters, newsletters, banners, and
other printed material.
For things like t-shirts, pens & pencils, it’s OK to use the 4-H
Clover by itself, as long as the UW Extension logo or the
words “University of Wisconsin-Extension” appear
somewhere else on the item (for example, on a t-shirt, the
Clover may appear on the back, and the UW-Extension logo
on the sleeve or breast, if that works better for your design).
If you are printing t-shirts or products, please call Marie at
(920)386-3790 BEFORE you have items made to ensure you
are using the logo correctly.
CLOVERBUD & EXPLORING WORKSHOPS Janet Zander conducts county workshops for Cloverbuds and
Explorers. ENCOURAGE younger members to attend. There are
many fun workshops to choose from.
DROP BOX FOR MILK MOOLA Please continue to collect Milk Moola. The goal is to submit at
least 3,000 caps & strips by December 2017. Keep sending them
into the 4-H Office! Leaders and families are welcome to come in
and drop off their milk caps and bag tops anytime during office
hours.

with 4-H leaders:
The Badger State Truck Show is in need of volunteers for July
28th-30th at the Dodge County Fairgrounds. Friday and Saturday
8-8pm shifts would be split up with breaks and such.
Sunday 8-noon we need people for clean-up, garbage pick-up,

We would prefer older volunteers 14+ in age. We plan to make a
donation to the club at the end of the event. The volunteers will

also get a free lunch and free bottled water throughout the day.

TRUE LEADERS IN SERVICE EVENTS 4-H is launching the annual True Leaders in Service initiative in
honor of National Volunteer Appreciation Month. True Leaders
in Service, a month-long community service activation, will
officially kick-off the first day of April, and culminate with the
National 4-H Day of Service on Saturday, April 29.
It’s not necessary to schedule a special event for True Leaders in
Service. You can add any service project you’re participating in
April to the national map at http://4-h.org/get-involved/true-
leaders-in-service/#!map-and-photos So far, there is only one
project registered in Wisconsin.
More information and marketing materials for True Leaders in
Service are available online HERE.
If you choose, you can participate on the first National 4-H Day
of Service on April 29. 4-H members, adult volunteers and
friends in every county across the country will help improve their
communities by adopting a service project. These projects can be
done as individuals, as an entire county 4-H program, or anything
in between. No matter the project, this is a day that will make a
difference!
CHESAPEAKE, VA 4-H LIVESTOCK CLUB
REQUEST
Hello,
I am a leader with Chesapeake 4-H Livestock Club in
Chesapeake, Virginia. Each year, I am in charge of the end of the
year slideshow for the kids. This year, I want to do something
totally unexpected & surprise all of my co-leaders & the
members with something special. I am trying to get a 4-H group
from each state to do a very short cell phone video clip that they
can email to me that says something like "Hey Chesapeake, this
is "XXXXXX" 4-H Club from "XXXX, " congrats on another
great year! " Of course, they can add to it if they would like, and
I hope they each find a way to make it unique to them!
The video can say anything they want it to say.. It can be funny,
silly, serious, whatever. I just want to get a group from every
State to say something to our group. It can also be more than one
Club from the same county/state, I will take as many video clips
as I can get! So far, I have received approximately 6 videos.
They are all very similar, which is fine, but if your kids are
willing to do something that makes the video unique to them, that
would be great!! –I only ask that they identify their 4-H club/
location, and address it specifically to Chesapeake 4-H.
(Please note, when you start the video, pause for a split second
before talking, and also leave a second or so at the end. One of
the videos I received can not be used, because it is cut so close to
the speaking part, they cut themselves off & you can’t tell what
they are saying)
I need them by May 1, if possible! Thanks for any help you
can give me!
