Understanding Disaster RiskThe new Risks & Hazards section will help you easily understand disaster risk by providing a quick snapshot of key concepts, analysis and access to up-to-date data and information in plain language. Data viewers and visualizations will help everyone get a better picture of risk. The first phase will unpack the rich stories and analysis of the Global Assessment Reports 2009, 2011 and 2013.

Country & City ProfilesBuilding upon existing country profiles with the latest

policy, news and information, the redesign will add city

profiles and urban risk resources from Resilient Cities.

Visual representations will help you understand hazard

distribution and risk levels, as well as DRR progress.

Resources will also be added in local languages.

How We WorkBehind the scenes of a site like PreventionWeb, there is a lot of complex technology. We have been

improving and tuning the back end of the site to support new services and improve the performance for

our 1 million annual visitors. This includes a full technical architecture review, improved databases and

many other technical enhancements that improve site response and usability. The WCDRR website and HFA

Monitor have already been launched in responsive design.

Our approach to design and development has always focused on a user centered design approach. User-

centered design starts with a deep understanding of users and target audiences. We have analysed your

most important tasks and are developing services to help you save time, find the most relevant information

on any DRR topic, and provide valuable context to help you discover more.

See more about the design process on our blog:

To our 40,000 regular weekly users

Your feedback and input are essential to improving our service to meet your knowledge needs.
