with the Guilds new membership info brochure. The VP Committee is

going to lead the Advertising Chair/Committee effort until someone

    and secure a spot.

    > The New Member Luncheon will be held Sat. April 12 at Dee

HIRDIE GIRDIE GALLERY:The Hirdie Girdie Gallery is celebrating its 20 th Anniversary! Guildmembers Sandi and Phil Krym, Kathy Boynton, Tania Begg, and BonnieLangenfeld are members of the gallery, along with former Guildmember Jeanne Risher. Gallery hours are 11 AM 5 PM, Mondaythrough Saturday. The gallerys final reception of the season is Monday,April 7 from 4:00 6:30 PM . The gallery will be paying tribute to the lifeand work of the late Lee Ackert, whose quiet determination andextraordinary talent enriched the gallery for years. Lets have a largeGuild turn-out for this last reception! Come to Sanibel and enjoy thesunset afterwards and have dinner at an island restaurant (Sanibel is

    NOT outer Mongolia)!

There is happy news on the volunteer front!! We have most of ourpositions filled! These updates are described below. Insider informationhas it that your President is extremely happy about this turn of events! We will never be without volunteer needs, however, since they areconstantly popping up. We frequently have people approach Phyllisand/or Lorraine privately who need help, we still have committees thatcould use more members, we have future exhibits that each need smallarmies of volunteers, and Chairs and Board members who need helpwith specific tasks. We will always have special events such as CraftBash and Artists@Work, and hopefully many additional opportunities

we can only imagine now as we continue to grow and expand ourwork.

Advertising Chair and Committee: New members Joe and Sandee Noeare our new Advertising Co-Chairs! Thank you for stepping up soquickly to help the Guild with this important job! The VP Committeeand the Board in general will help them get started and all members canhelp as well. We have distributed our new Sponsorship Brochure, which can also be downloaded from our web site. This is an importantand effective tool to help us gain sponsors and advertisers. We can allhelp by asking our doctors, lawyers, accountants, etc. to advertise or besponsors. The brochure will do the work for us, if we leave it withevery possible lead we can think of. We do not have to restrictourselves to local businesses. Think of the businesses you deal with andsupport. Remind them of the value of your support: kiln companies, art

supply retailers, teachers, art centers, use your imaginations! The newYearbook will be printed this summer, and we can use all theadvertisers we can get. Advertising in the Yearbook is only $50.Sponsorships for our exhibits are something new that we can explore. We should approach this from the aspect of how beneficial it will be tothem if they advertise or become a sponsor. We have members fromPunta Gorda to Naples, and we can provide a tremendous amount ofexposure for advertisers.

Buddy System: Established members who are active in the Guild areassigned to a new member and make themselves available to explain allfacets of Guild activities, answer all questions and concerns, sit withnew members during meetings, and generally help them becomeinformed and feel comfortable as quickly as possible. Phyllis has a poolof people to pull from when new members join, and we had more

people sign up at the March meeting! Thank you to Angela Aradia, SueArcher, Trudy Edlebeck, Edie Limbright, Toni Ory, Pam Richardson,Colin Sollinger, and Gloria Winer for signing up!. We can always usemore people, so please let Phyllis know if youd also like to participate.

Scholarship Chair and Committee: Trudy Sampson is our newScholarship Chair, and Analilia & Randy Clay and Gloria Winer formher committee! Thank you for filling these important positions! Nowwe can expand our scholarship program, and encourage even moreyoung people to follow their artistic dreams!

Hospitality:Since Trudy Sampson is now the Scholarship Chair, we need to find athird person for Hospitality, since it is difficult to both be on the Board

and work Hospitality. Having three people has seemed to work out well

because it enables us to have enough coverage when someone itown. Judy Van and Lisa Tully are the other members of HoThis committee prepares the food table before meetings, whichcoming a bit early. They also keep the table supplied and meveryone has what they need. They keep our paper produstocked, and clean up after meetings.

FRIENDSHIP MEETINGS:April is available if someone wishes to host the last friendship of the season. Hopefully, we will have opportunities to get casually over the summer as well.

Friendship meetings are our way of providing more opportunitito get together in a relaxed, social setting. The hosts simply provalcoholic drinks and paper products, and the attendees everything else. The hosts may choose the day of the week and of day. Contact Lorraine if you are interested in hosting. Hosattending Friendship Meetings do not count toward Guild vorequirements.CCMI FOOD DRIVES:Collecting food and other supplies for the homeless and hungimportant aspect of our charitable status, and is extremely imfor our community. You may visit CCMIs web site for ideas and other items to donate: www.ccmileecounty.com. You m

Lets make each monthsdonations even bigger than
