Effi cient Solutions in Focus

Today’s companies have to operate increasingly economically while at the same time conserving resources. Rising energy prices, ever more stringent envi-ronmental regulations, and the increasing pressures of competition are the chal-lenges facing industry. For example, new directives governing the effi ciency of motors will apply in the European market from June 16, 2011, obliging manufactur-ers to supply only highly effi cient motors. The EU directive applies to low-voltage asynchronous motors between 0.75 and 375 kW. In accordance with this directive, Siemens now offers 3-phase current asyn-chronous motors consistently in the High Effi ciency (IE2) and Premium Effi ciency (IE3) classes. The IE3 motors are up to 10 percent more effi cient than conventional (IE1) motors.

Energy and costs in drives can also be saved with frequency converters – in extreme cases up to 70 percent, depend-ing on the individual application. With the Sinamics G120C, Siemens presents a new device that is particularly suitable for operation in pumps, compressors, and fans but also on conveyor belts and simple handling machines. Siemens presents the

Sitop PSU400M DC/DC converter, which scores high marks with an effi ciency of up to 96 percent, as a power supply on the intermediate circuit of controlled drives and wind power stations.

Siemens is also presenting very com-pact, energy-saving industrial PCs (IPCs) with new Intel Atom processors for the fi rst time in Hanover. The nano IPCs are designed for maintenance-free, continu-ous 24-hour operation even at high tem-perature, vibration, shock, and Energy Monitoring and Controlling (EMC) require-ments and are suitable for simple control, visualization, and communication tasks.

Security and Quality

With the increasing use of Industrial Eth-ernet connections right down to the fi eld level, security matters are becoming more important in industry. New components with integrated safety functions help companies increase the security of their networks in process and production auto-mation. The innovative communication processes from Siemens contain both fi re-wall and VPN (virtual private network) functions in the new version and there-

fore enable secure access to controllers of the Simatic S7-300 and S7-400 types.

Visitors to the Hanover Fair can experi-ence an integrated process sequence – from the design of the a vehicle to the production and quality assurance – live on a demo model from the automotive indus-try. The fl ow of information from the prod-uct design to the production is based on consistent engineering from the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software to Automation Designer and MES. An innova-tive and future-oriented measuring sys-tem shows how the quality assurance pro-cess in auto production can be automated and considerably simplifi ed.

Of course, the new engineering frame-work, Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) Portal, is also at the center of attention in Hanover. This allows simple integration of Sirius switchgear into the automation solution without additional tools. Thanks to the simple and effi cient parameteriza-tion with context-sensitive menus and graphical user interfaces, an enormous amount of time can be saved in the con-fi guration of the switchgear.

www.siemens.com/hannover-messe

Effi cient, energy-saving automation and drive technology helps companies reduce costs and gain a competitive edge while achieving environ-mentally sustainable production. Under the slogan “Create Sustainable Value,” Siemens is presenting products and solutions that meet this promise at this year’s Hannover Messe.

Simatic IPC227D and HMI IPC277D+

Power-Optimized by Intel Atom

The Simatic IPC227D Nanobox PC and Simatic HMI IPC277D Nanopanel PC are highly compact embedded industrial PCs (IPCs). They are power-optimized with Intel Atom E6xx processors of the latest generation and are suitable for simple control, visualization, and communication tasks and as data collectors in areas such as mechanical engineering, building automation, traffi c technology, and energy transmission.

The extremely robust nano IPCs are designed for maintenance-free, continu-ous 24-hour operation, and meet high-temperature, vibration, shock, and Energy Monitoring and Controlling (EMC) requirements. They have an abso-lutely maintenance-free structure with an integrated 24 V industrial power supply. High data security is ensured by robust mass storage devices with 50 GB solid-state drive, and CompactFlash cards up to 8 GB as well as a 512 kB nonvolatile remanence memory, of which 128 kB can be written by WinAC, for example, within the buffer time. Two teaming-capable Gigabit Ethernet con-nections, of which one can be used optionally as a Profi net interface with real-time functionality, ensure high data transfer rates and redundancy.

The dustproof IPC227D Nanobox PC, with a volume of just one liter, offers a large number of interfaces and extensions, such as the four Hi-Speed USB 2.0 ports and an RS232 (alternatively confi gurable as RS485 or CAN). A PCIe slot, three additional serial interfaces, and four digital I/Os are also available as options. Four-state LEDs enable effi cient self-diagnosis. The IPC227D is easy to wire because all interfaces are on one side. DIN rails, wall, book, or side assem-bly make the device extremely fl exible in its assembly. The IPC has already won the coveted iF product design award for its inno-vative design.

The Simatic HMI IPC277Ds have wide-screen fronts with touch displays in 7-, 9- and 12-inch formats and high resolution. The robust displays have wide view-ing angles and 100 per-cent dimmable back-ground lighting with which they offer a bril-liant display and the pos-sibility of reducing power consumption.

The long-term available nano IPCs can be confi gured online and are delivered with a preinstalled and activated operating system. Ready-to-go bundles with visualization or control software are available for fast commissioning.

LOGO! 12/24 RCE and 230 RCE+

LOGO! Becomes Ethernet-CapableTwo new LOGO! basic units, 12/24 RCE and 230 RCE, have been added to the LOGO! family and consider-ably expand its scope of functions. An integrated Industrial Ethernet in-terface allows the low-cost network-ing of up to eight devices or their in-tegration into an existing infrastruc-ture in addition to data entry on the PC. A master/master combination in which all devices have their own pro-gram can be implemented just as a combination of master and slaves in which a LOGO! runs the entire pro-gram and the others act purely as I/O extensions. In addition, the new logic modules can also communicate with S7 controllers and HMI devices from the Simatic series. A doubling of the program memory, data log-ging, and various software exten-sions create whole new application possibilities with the familiar simple confi guration and handling.

Sitop PSU400M+

Effi cient DC/DC Converter

The new Sitop PSU400M DC/DC converter en-ables connection both at the intermediate cir-cuit and at battery networks with its wide input range. Its high efficiency converts different DC voltages extremely effectively into controlled 24 V.

Sitop PSU400M uses the energy in the inter-mediate circuit to maintain the 24 V power sup-ply. This enables an efficient and low-cost power failure concept to be implemented using the primary clocked power supply. Braking drives provide an energy backup in the case of a mains failure. Sitop PSU400M also offers a special advantage over other energy stores that are based on capacitor technology. With the great voltage difference of 700 V that the input of the Sitop power supply allows, a greater electrical charge can be used in comparison with conventional DC/DC converters and thus fewer capacitors are required.

DT Confi gurator+

Application-Related Selection of ConvertersTo enable every user to fi nd the right frequency converter, Siemens relies on an application-aided selection tool, the new DT Confi gurator. Conventional selection systems in fre-quency converters offer a catalog of individual products and components from which the user can select the ele-ments suitable for his or her solution. However, this assumes that the machine manufacturer or distributor has extensive knowledge of the performance capability and technical pos-sibilities of the individual drive components. With the selec-tion tool in the new DT Confi gurator, the customer selects the appropriate application type: pumping/ventilation/com-pression, motion, processing, or machining. The possible applications based on this, for example are fans, conveyor belts, high-bay racking units, agitators, and rolling mills as well as milling, turning, and drilling. Then the user decides whether to use continuous or noncontinuous motion sequences, allowing the choice between simple, medium, or high performance. Once the preselections have been made, the user receives suggestions on which converter products can be used. Such specifi cation selection accord-ing to application criteria gives the customer the certainty that he or she has chosen the right products.

www.siemens.com/dt-confi gurator

New Safety Integrated Function in Sinamics+

Monitoring Motion Direction Safely and without EncodersThe Sinamics converters were extended in SW Version 4.4 with the SDI (Safe Direction) function. This ensures that the drive moves only in the selected direction. Deviation is safely recognized and the confi gured error response initi-ated. The new function is available in the Sinamics G120 frequency converter without encoders, in the Sinamics S110 positioning drive, and in the Sinamics S120 motion control drive system with or without encoders. The SDI function can be used, for example, to prevent a machine slide from moving toward an operator standing in the dan-ger area of a plant, for maintenance purposes, for instance. The plant must not be stopped as long as the machine slide is moving away from the operator. If the machine slide should inadvertently move towards the operator, the appro-priate drive is stopped safely. The SDI function ensures the safety of operating personnel and at the same time increases the productivity of the plant. Another advantage of the function is that no additional external safety components are necessary and the associ-ated wiring effort is dispensed with.

+Low-Voltage Frequency Converter Software V4.4

Improved Performance and Dynamic ResponseThe new software Version 4.4 improves the control behav-ior and thus the performance and dynamic response of all low-voltage frequency converters in the Sinamics series, for example, the Sinamics G130 or Sinamics S150. The speed control for asynchronous machines was optimized espe-cially, which is an advantage above all for high dynamic response, generator operation, and high mass inertia. Vec-tor drives of higher performance can now be operated with a current control clock of less than 250 ms. An energy sav-ings indicator was also integrated for energy manage-ment.

+Motor Family 1LE1

Extension by Robust Gray Cast- Iron Motors

A number of compact motors with gray cast iron housings in the IE2 and IE3 effi ciency classes and certifi ed according to EISA have been added to the 1LE1 motor series. Asyn-chronous motors in the power range from 750 W to 200 kW are available for all applications in the production and pro-cess industry. Their robust housing makes them suitable, above all, for use under harsh ambient conditions such as in the petrochemical industry. The standard power and axle height assignment is retained for effi ciency class IE3, that is, there are no axle height jumps from IE2 to IE3. The mechanical interface to the unit remains constant and the motor can often even be imple-mented in the same length. This enables an upgrade to IE3 without adapting the mechanical machine design and with minimum engineering costs.Regionally specifi c versions are available for export. NEMA Premium® motors are available for the NAFTA market, for example. The prescribed legal and safety requirements of these markets are taken into consideration here. Generally, special emphasis has been placed on the compactness of the new motor series. Specially compact drive solutions can be implemented with higher-performance versions in the IE2 effi ciency class. Motor types with standard perfor-mances of the next-highest axle height are offered for this.

Industrial Communication

In the cell protection concept, a plant net-work is divided into individual automation cells within which all devices can commu-nicate with each other without interfer-ence. The communication from or into the cell is controlled, however, so that only authorized access is possible.

The cells are linked to the network by means of so-called security modules, for example, Scalance S, which offer fi rewall and VPN (virtual private network) func-tionality. This enables secure communica-tion to other cells protected by Scalance S or, with the Softnet Security Client, access from a PC to be established – ideal for per-forming service activities. The biggest advantage is that devices that do not have their own protection mechanisms such as a fi rewall, for example, a Simatic S7-1200 controller, can also be protected. The established Scalance S security modules were innovated and now offer functions

such as diagnosis by SNMP and the possi-bility of direct connection to the Internet using a DSL modem, among other things.

The cell protection concept has now been expanded and the protective func-tion is integrated into the new CP 343-1 Advanced communication processors for the Simatic S7-300 and CP 443-1 Advanced communication processors for the S7-400: Security Integrated. This makes the com-munication processors a secure interface to the plant network and at the same time a link to the slave controllers and the HMI and I/O devices by the integrated switch. Parallel to this, the new CP 1628 also offers firewall and VPN functionality to protect an industrial PC. This could be a WinCC operating station, for example, which can access either the cells protected by Scalance S or the above-mentioned S7 CPs via the integrated 2-port switch or can be operated remotely by a secure con-

nection with the Softnet Security Client. The new Scalance S623 also offers the possibility of connecting a service laptop, a service network, or a DSL modem for Internet access via an additional “yellow” DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) port.

But secure communication can also be set up when an automation cell to be pro-tected is in a very distant location, such as a well station of a water supplier or a mobile machine. The necessary mobile radio connection is provided in this case by the GPRS router MD741-1 and the new UMTS router Scalance M875.

Security Integrated therefore increases plant security without considerable extra costs and forms an integral part of indus-trial security in production and process networks.

www.siemens.com/industrialsecurity

Different measures must be taken to protect a plant comprehensively in terms of IT security – from the company organization and its regulations and protective measures for PC and control systems to the protection of automation cells by segmentation of the network. The cell protection concept – an essential part of the Siemens Industrial Security concept, which has been implemented successfully for many years with Scalance S – is now being expanded.

Fast and Secure over the Mobile Radio Network

The new UMTS routers Scalance M873 and M875 are part of the new Scalance M product series, which contains modems and routers. Both routers communicate via the UMTS mobile radio standard and thus achieve maximum data speeds. The routers are therefore not only suit-able for use in classic telemaintenance or telecontrol applications but also in applications in which video data and other bandwidth-intensive services must be transmitted. One example here would be the moni-toring of railway and road vehicles. The Scalance M873 provides a lower-cost version without VPN functionality; the Scalance M875 pro-vides the full functional scope.

Simatic Code-Reading Systems with Numerous New Features+

Code-Reading Systems with MoreApplication Areas and Functions

The new Simatic MV440 UR (Ultra High Resolution) variant has a resolution of 1600 pixels x 1200 pixels for a very wide fi eld of view so that large or multiple codes can be read, and scan and portal applica-tions are enabled. Like all other variants of the MV440 series, the read-clear-text function with the OCR Text-Genius license can also be added to this version. The advantage: the text has no complex teach-in process but is recognized and read auto-matically. The content of a 1-D/2-D code and the clear text can be compared in the same image.

To check the marking quality of the code (verification) a separate Veri-Genius license is available; new here is compli-ance with the latest AIM specification, AIM-DPM-1-2006. Both licenses can be loaded onto the MV440 using the Simatic Automation License Manager.

All device types of the Simatic MV440 code-reading system now also have PoE (Power over Ethernet) functionality. Power and image and time-critical data are trans-mitted on a single cable line, which saves considerable wiring expense. The appro-priate network components are also avail-

able with the Industrial Ethernet switches Scalance X108 PoE, X308-2M PoE, and XR324-4M PoE.

The Profi net IO device exchange func-tion was also added to the Simatic MV420 and MV440. This allows a defective device to be replaced with a replacement device without further tools or reconfi guration so that the downtimes are minimized.

Simatic RF200 RFID System+

Compact Readers for Assembly and Logistics

MDS D426 ISO Transponder+

Compact and Robust

The application possibilities of the Simatic RFID portfolio have now been extended by a new HF data medium. The compact and robust MDS D426 ISO transponder is particularly suitable for identification of transport units in distribution or production logistics. The transponder has a 2 kB FRAM mem-ory and can also be used under very harsh ambient conditions thanks to its IP68 protection class. The transponder

can also be used both for the MOBY D RFID system and for the Simatic RF200 and Simatic RF300 (ISO mode).

www.siemens.com/transponder

With the new compact Simatic RF200 radio-frequency identi-fi cation (RFID) system in the HF range, Siemens has now com-pleted its identifi cation portfolio for applications in the lower to medium performance range. This represents a complete, scalable product portfolio for RFID and automation solutions. The Simatic RF200 is particularly suitable for use in assembly and handling technology and for material fl ow control in pro-duction and intralogistics. Due to their compact size, the read-ers are ideally suitable for applications in confi ned spaces, for example, in the automotive industry or electrical equipment production.

The new readers are certifi ed in accordance with ISO 15693 and can be used with a number of ISO transponders that are already available. For very small ranges up to 20 or 30 mm, the two Simatic RF210R and RF220R readers with thread diame-ters of 18 or 30 mm and a length of approximately 70 mm in cylindrical form are available. The Simatic RF260R in box de-sign, measuring 75 mm x 75 mm x 40 mm, is available for ranges up to 130 mm. All RF200 readers have an integrated antenna and an RS422 interface for connecting to communi-cation modules for the bus link, for example, to Profi net or Profi bus. The high degree of protection (IP67) and the robust

structure guarantee trouble-free use even under the harshest conditions. The devices are connected by an 8-pole M12 con-nector.

All the advantages of Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) can be exploited by using standardized communication inter-faces and the standard linking to the Simatic controller level via Profi bus and Profi net. Commissioning, diagnostics, and maintenance as well as engineering can be carried out more easily and quickly in this way. Due to the software compatibil-ity with other Siemens RFID systems, existing systems can also be extended easily with the Simatic RF200.

Sirius Switchgear in TIA Portal+

Sirius Goes TIA

Siemens has redefi ned engineering with Totally Integrated Automation Portal (TIA Portal). TIA Portal is the effi cient, intuitive, and proven engineering framework with which all planning and production pro-cesses can be designed optimally from a single screen – throughout the entire pro-ductivity chain. This trailblazing innova-tion not only increases effi ciency but also productivity and competitiveness.

Its functionality has been extended even further by the integration of Sirius switchgear into TIA Portal. AS-Interface (AS-i) networks can be used for the fi rst time in TIA Portal – with identical handling for Profi bus and Profi net. This enables

clear representation and confi guration as well as the parameterization and diagno-sis of all AS-i users without additional soft-ware. Switchgear such as communication-capable motor starters and load feeders as well as I/O modules and HMI devices can also be linked easily to Simatic for the fi rst time via AS-i. By online diagnosis of the AS-i networks, the user has an eye on the status of the AS-i slaves at all times.

ET 200S motor starters were also added to TIA Portal. Motor starters can now be installed easily and without complications into an ET 200S station, selected from the hardware catalog by drag and drop, and connected with Simatic. The starters are

parameterized directly in the hardware. Motor parameters can be set directly and the protection behavior of the motor defi ned on detection of asymmetry, viola-tion of the current limits, or overloading of the thermal motor model.

It is also possible to insert Simocode motor management into the project and connect it with Simatic. The handling of Simocode in TIA Portal is as simple as usual: confi guration is by drag and drop and the motor management functions are parameterized directly in the device view.

www.siemens.com/sirius

Sirius switchgear can be integrated into the automation solution easily and without additional tools with the TIA Portal framework. Simple and effi cient parameterization with context-sensitive menus and graphical user interfaces saves an enormous amount of time in the confi guration of the switchgear.

Simocode pro Safety+

New Modules for Safe Switch-Off

New features:Operational switching and +fail-safe switch-off incorporated in the motor management system without additional expenseFlexibly parameterizable safety +functionsFail-safe switching off by +hardware signals or Profi safeFunctions for contactor +monitoring already integrated into the modulesInformative diagnostic +information and status messages transmitted to the controller via Profi bus DP

The safety-oriented use of components is becom-ing increasingly important in process automation because situations in which man and the environ-ment need to be protected by the safe shutdown of the machine or plant can occur at any time. Safe switching off is also becoming increasingly impor-tant due to new rules and regulations. With the fail-safe digital expansion modules DM-F Profi safe and DM-F Local – which allow safe switching off of equipment – safety technology becomes an inte-gral part of the Simocode pro motor management system. The combination of the Simocode pro V basic unit with a fail-safe digital module unites the advantages of a fl exible, modular motor manage-ment system and integrated safety technology in one system. Man and machine are protected by the combination of various multistage protection and monitoring functions in Simocode pro and by the safe switching off of the device. New stan-dards are set in the implementation of this trend. The requirements of the IEC 61508/62061 and ISO 13849-1 standards for functional safety up to

SIL 3 or PL e are satisfi ed. Hardware and wiring ex-penses are reduced, and additional outputs or pe-ripheral devices can be omitted.

The fail-safe DM-F Profi safe digital module is ideal for applications in which the switch-off signal for the motor is generated by a fail-safe controller (F-CPU) and is transmitted via Profi bus to the DM-F module by means of the Profi safe profi le. The safety settings are made in the familiar Step 7 engineer-ing environment (with F-Systems and Distributed Safety).

Fail-safe switching off of the motor is also possi-ble without a bus link, with the DM-F Local module. The signal here comes from a fail-safe controller, for example. The DM-F Local module processes the fail-safe signals for safe shutdown. If controllers with a safety function are in use, a sensor, for ex-ample, an emergency stop, can also be connected directly to the DM-F Local. Necessary safety func-tions can be set on the module by DIP switches.

Simatic ET 200S HF Motor Starters with Profi net+

Optimization of Processes

The Simatic ET 200S High Feature (HF) motor starters, after their revision by the acyclic services on Profi bus and Profi net, offer the possibility of reading out a large volume of diag-nostic data for device, plant, and process monitoring. To de-tect process deviations or for optimized initial start-up, the motor starter offers functions such as logbooks and statis-tical data that allow maximum current values or the num-ber of switching cycles to be read out. The device diagno-sis data record enables central device and plant monitoring. The installation and maintenance functions not only store information about the implemented module but also data that can be defi ned during the confi guration. Plant faults can therefore be remedied quickly.

The Simatic ET 200S HF motor starter also has optional digital inputs, which are all available in the cyclic process image. These can be assigned with functions fl exibly and therefore adapted to all applications. The Simatic ET 200S HF motor starter is also Profi Energy-capable. Profi Energy is a manufacturer- and device-independent Profi net-based profi le with which energy consumption costs can be re-duced by targeted shutdown during breaks in production. This not only saves money but also contributes to environ-mentally friendly handling of energy.

Sinvert PVM+

Extended Range of Applications of PV InvertersThe area of application of the Sinvert PVM inverter has been extended. Inverters for photovoltaic (PV) systems must also meet the requirements of EMC Directive 2004/108/ EC with regard to their electromagnetic properties. They may not emit too great an elec-tromagnetic interfer-ence (spurious emis-sion), which can affect other devices in the vi-cinity, and they must also be able to with-stand a specifi c amount of external interference (interference immu-nity). Limit values are defi ned in individual norms and standards to ensure that two imme-diately adjacent devices do not interfere with each other.

Now, the Sinvert PVM inverters comply not only with the values for EMC interference immunity in accor-dance with IEC 61000-6-2 for the industrial environment but also with the prescribed values for EMC spurious emis-sion in accordance with IEC 61000-6-3 for the home. De-vices in living areas are subject to much higher demands re-garding spurious emission. Only low emission is permitted, however the same increased demands for interference im-munity as for industry apply.
