Next General Membership Meeting April 6, 2011

7:30 p.m. Sunrise Café, Middleton

Minutes to the March 2, 2011 General Membership Meeting

The general meeting was held at the Sunrise cafe. Attendance sheet attached to minutes. Meeting called to order at 7:45. TREASURER REPORT: Marnie reported checking has $3,968.43 , the scholarship fund has $1,326.25. Bills that were paid are $225.40 for airline fare for double point judge Jacqueline Dodd-Duran, Postage for Feb newsletter mailing $17.60 , printing of newsletter $5.30, double point awards paid to Connie Graves $148.40, Trophies at Witco $47. 06. The Elmore county 4-H show approval check written 9-3-2010 was discussed. We have a copy but do not find where the check has been deposited. After much discussion it was voted on to have the Elmore county 4-H group stop payment on present check & issue another one with a deduction for the stop payment fee. Motion passed. BANQUET COMMITTEE: Linda Murray reported that someone asked her to check out the Idaho Center for a January banquet. She will report at the next meeting. DOUBLE POINT COMMITTEE: Wade reported the judges for the April double point show are Sue Crane & Jackie Dodd. The stall fees are set at $20.00 each day. Janet Alcott has generously donated thru D & B many nice items for class awards. Whips made a donation for the Reinsmanship driving classes & Linda Kaye made donations for the driving classes. Thank you to all of these folks. EPRB / LOC committee: John said the rulebook had been gone thru by the rules committee & was ready to go to the printer. John explained that Caxton had given him a bid of $850.00 which was nearly $100.00 cheaper than 2 years ago. It was moved to allow a budget of $1,000 for rule book printing. This was passed by the majority. The issue of the banquet being held later in the year tends to complicate the election of officers, getting a budget & P/ L report on time. John referred to the rulebook statement that allows the president to over ride some rules. John suggested we change the rulebook to say fiscal year rather than calendar year. This would be voted on with a ballot in the end of 2011. This change could be printed in the rulebook keeping it current . Donna Stack moved 2nd by John passed by majority. The subject of returned checks was brought up for discussion. Marnie stated that Syringa Bank charges $4.95 for returned checks. It was voted on to rewrite the return check fee to read ISHSA will charge what the current bank fee is. This keeps the rules book from being out dated. NEWSLETTER COMMITTEE: Discussion about receiving a newsletter was brought up. Shawn explained she had emailed a letter to all current 2011 members. As memberships come in they will be added to the list. The March newsletter will go out on Sat. The Newsletter is on the web site. Advertising costs were discussed & voted on. Shawn moved we raise the prices (see list in newsletter) Wade 2nd . Motion passed. OLD BUSINESS: Sabrina requested a donation for the 2011 WIF. It was moved by Wade 2nd by Jami we donation the same amount as 2010. Andrea asked for a motion on the sanction fee for show approval. It was moved & passed to maintain the $60.00 fee for 2011. The class fee was moved & passed that ISHSA approved shows can charge up to $6.00 per class, with a one time fee of a $1.00 per horse for awards. Continued Page 3

Minutes of the March 2, 2011 General Meeting continued from previous page. SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Linda Murray reported the horse council offered a booth to present information about the scholarship. Linda suggested passing out show bills & other information. Connie G volunteered to help. Connie said she had two inquiries about the fund. AUDIT: Sunday Feb 13 at Joan Lyons house in Eagle. The audit is not complete until the books have been turned over to the new treasurer. SPRING PLANNING COMMITTEE: Deneen reported that 9 people had meet together to plan for the 2011 show year. This group had come up with some ideas that will benefit ISHSA collectively. Some changes are that the buckle challenge has been renamed the challenge giving the option of presenting other items than buckles. 1. Donna Staack moved & 2nd by Wade to change the buckle challenge to the challenge. It passed. The folks signed up for these awards MUST SHOW 5 TIMES. Deneen strongly suggests that people read their declarations & understand the requirements of the awards. 2. The beginner award: It was moved by John & 2nd by Wade that the beginner award be limited to first year people and non pro status only. This was passed by the majority. 3. John moved 2nd by Wade to drop the team awards. It passed by the majority. 4. Versatility award: It was voted to drop the Blazer horses. Some of the categories will be changing to reflect rule changes. Hunter Hack & Gamblers Choice driving were deleted. New classes will be added to certain categories. Deneen mentioned there had been a mix up in 2010 awards & the committee agreed to award Linda Kaye a buckle & Meredith Marker a vest for a driving award. The next award meeting will be March 23rd at Deneen’s salon. NEW BUSINESS: 2011 SHOW APPROVALS & DELEGATES: Anne reported all shows have paid their approval fees & are confirmed . There will be a listing in the newsletter & on the web site. INSURANCE RENEWAL: No action on this. POINT KEEPER: Resumes were sent out & a vote will be taken at the executive meeting. Next meeting: April 6 at Sunrise Café in Middleton. Submitted by Secretary: Anne Phillips-Gahley
