Balancing the need for more power with lower climate impact – the challenges Wir alle leben in einer Welt die sich schnell verändert Klimaänderungen Versorgungssicherheit, Effizienz sind oben auf der Agenda der Politiker und kreieren nicht nur politische aber vor allem technische Herausforderungen. Das elektrische Netz von heute ist den kommenden Herausforderungen nicht gewachsen Wieso? Experten sagen voraus dass sich der Bedarf an Elektrizität in den nächsten 20-30 Jahren verdoppeln wird. Eine wesentliche Menge wird dabei durch erneuerbare Energien generiert werdenwie Wind oder der Sonne. Die Produkion wir viel verteilter stattfinden als bis heute. Jeder Haushalt kann heute Strom produzieren und ins Netz einspeisen. Auf der Übertragungsebene werden neue Verbindungen zu mehr Sicherheit aber auch zu mehr Wettbewerb führen. Neue grosse erneuerbare Kraftwerke müssen angeschlossen werden Auf der Verteilebene müssen alle diese verteilten Energieproduzenten wie Privathäuser angeschlossen werden, es braucht viel mehr Automatisierung um die Verfügbarkeit aufrecht zu erhalten. Wahrscheinlich die grösste Herausforderung wird die Integration von Millionen Elektroautos ergeben, vor allem dann wenn man deren Batterien als Stromspeicher auch für das Netz verwenden möchte. Wichtig ist zu verstehen das elektrische Netze anders als Wasser oder Gas immer im Gleichgewicht sein müssen, d.h. die Einspeisung und der Verbrauch müssen immer gleich sein, sonst fällt das Netz ausser Tritt und es kann im extrem zu black outs kommen. Wenn es gelingen würde Strom in grossen Mengen zu speichern wäre dies wesentlich einfacher. Heute ist dies praktisch nur indirekt mit Speicherseen möglich
