The Long Live You 2021 Autumn Program is a 14-week program, run from April 19 – July 23, 2021.

We offer a variety of times to cater for everyone and it is important to note that participant class sizes are limited, you will need to register to secure your place in your preferred activity. If your preferred activity is fully booked, you are not permitted to attend but you can be added to our wait list.If you are unable to make an activity you have signed up for, please let us know. If you do not attend an activity you have signed up to after three consecutive sessions, your place will be
given to someone else if the class is full. All participants must scan in at reception prior to entering their class. It is essential that we are able to keep correct attendance numbers in order to report accurately and keep the program going. If you are unsure of what classes you are enrolled in, our friendly staff can let you know at any time. Occasionally instructors fall ill or locations are changed. We will publish program changes or updates at each local centre and on our website.

About the program
The Long Live You program is a partnership initiative of the City of Albany, Shire of Denmark and Shire of Plantagenet, offering a unique suite of physical, social and educational programs. Designed to assist in creating more active and healthier lifestyles for the Lower Great Southern 60+ community.
The Long Live You program, presented by LiveLighter, has been made possible through the Sport Australia’s Move It AUS Better Ageing grant, Brandenburg Foundation, Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and Healthway promoting the LiveLighter message.
The program will run from a range of outdoor locations, local recreation centres and other venues such as
retirement villages. Keep an eye out for additional exclusive pop-up programs in various locations.
Members are able to access the benefits all year round with flexible payment options available. Please enquire at your local centre for financial assistance information.
Membership Information
The Long Live You membership provides a unique opportunity for members in Albany or Denmark to access all activities in either shire under a single membership. There is a minimal weekly fee that allows access to unlimited activities and you are encouraged to attend as many activities as you like per week.
Individual fees are applicable to activities in the Shire of Plantagenet.

Benefits of the membership
As a Long Live You member you will have access to all the programs on offer and become part of a community of people, working towards building a happy, active and social lifestyle for our members.
All members attending Supervised Gym are offered a free exercise program each term from a qualified Personal Trainer. Albany members please note – All new participants must undergo a gym induction prior to their first Supervised Gym session. Inductions are by appointment only and can be booked at the time of registration.
Members are able to attend all activities in either Albany or Denmark. Additionally, we have exclusive pop-up programs and additional outings planned using a community bus. We will also be offering training courses for various sports and holding fun competition days with other Shires.
Members will have the opportunity to assist us in tailoring programs through suggestions and feedback each term.

Zone StrengthZone Strength is a modified version of ALAC’s popular Zone 30 interval training class. Held in the gym using the X-Zone Functional Training frame, Zone Strength will help you build strength and mobility while developing your confidence with using functional training equipment and free weights in the gym setting.
Swim Club The Long Live You Swim Club is a great opportunity for anyone who enjoys swimming to improve your technique and fitness in a safe environment. Please note, this is not a learn-to-swim program and participants need to be able to swim and be comfortable in the water.
Floor BarreA floor based conditioning class drawing on aspects of ballet and dance to gain core strength as well as strengthen and stretch the whole body. The floor supports the body allowing exercise without having to think about balance.
Latin Dancing In-LineLatin Dancing In-Line is a fun activity where you will learn steps from the Jive, Cha-Cha, Samba and Pasodoble. Beginners are encouraged to attend the beginner’s class.
BalletSet to beautiful music, this activity uses aids to help with balance and build stability while going through the poses. There are no leotards, tutus or pointe shoes required, just casual clothing.
Yoga-latesA unique combination class merging techniques of Pilates and yoga to build core strength and improve balance with stretches and exercises in a relaxed environment.
Active Recovery This activity is run by a qualified professional and is designed specifically for anyone who may be going in for an operation in the future or who is recovering from one. It is a gentle way to build up strength and confidence when exercising.
ACTIVITY DESCRIPTIONS
Supervised GymNever been to the gym before? We’ve got you covered! Our supervised gym times offer access to a fully qualified Personal Trainer to guide you through your own program. Beginner Strong SeniorsThis is a resistance based group activity utilising a variety of equipment and free weights. This is a beginner’s activity designed to develop strength, stability and overall fitness.
Aqua AerobicsJump in and enjoy our aqua fitness activities offering low impact aerobic exercise classes to help improve your cardiovascular fitness, strength and stability.
Heart Foundation Walk 1
Packed with health benefits, our walking groups are the perfect place to get moving and meet new people. A separate schedule for walk locations is outlined on page 12 of this booklet.
ZumbaZumba Gold is an engaging Latin-inspired dance class guaranteed to get you moving. It is a low intensity activity and a great way to improve general fitness in a fun environment.
Seated DanceA low to zero impact dance program performed in a chair using large muscle groups in the upper and lower body. Ideal for people with back or joint issues and limited mobility.
YogaYoga moves slowly and deliberately through a gentle sequence of poses to help you stretch, calm your inner self and improve balance.
Chair YogaThis activity is a form of yoga modified to meet the needs of anyone with limited mobility or recovering from injury or illness.
PilatesPilates techniques are suitable for all fitness levels improving core strength, postural alignment as well as physical and mental wellness.
Social Sports – Masters Games These sessions are all offered indoors and include Carpet Bowels, Badminton, Table Tennis, and modified sports such as Walking Soccer, Netball and Tennis with specialised equipment. Enquire at your local centre for available activities.
Come and join-in on the relaxed pace and social atmosphere with a morning of low impact, modified sports.
FitballThis is a specialised activity using stability balls to improve core strength, challenge yourself and watch your balance and posture improve.

Meet at ALAC for a walk around the scenic grounds of the centennial precinct. We will gradually increase the length of the walk each week until 4km has been reached.
Meet outside the Surf Club at Middleton Beach for a variety of walks around the Middleton area.
Refer to the maps provided in the centre showing meeting points.
* Transport is also provided leaving from and returning to ALAC. Places are limited and need to be booked in advance.
CLUB SPORT - FREE AND FUN
Meet new people and participate in a new challenge. Local sporting clubs have developed modified versions of their sport. Learn the basics and play a regular social game in a supportive environment. Choose your preferred day and sport for a LLY Come and Try program. See below dates and times in each Shire.

PROGRAM INFORMATION
1. DO I HAVE TO PAY?
Yes, there is a minimal membership fee. Please see the fees and charges section on page 5 of this booklet for more detail. This fee allows us to create a sustainable schedule and offer a wide variety of programs. Please provide feedback to any of our friendly staff regarding the membership fee and financial assistance information.
2. ARE THERE ANY FREE ACTIVITIES?
Yes, please refer to the ‘FREE’ labels on the timetable (page 8 & 9) showing the activities that are free of charge. You will need to fill out a short registration form at your local centre before joining any of the free activities.
3. WHAT IF I’M UNDER 60?
Unfortunately you will have to wait to join this exciting program!
4. DO I NEED A HEALTHCARE OR PENSION CARD?
No, anyone aged 60 and over can join.
5. WHAT IF I DON’T EXERCISE AT THE MOMENT?
Then this is the program for you! All activities are suitable for beginners
9. CAN I JUST REGISTER FOR ONE ACTIVITY?
The membership covers all the activities so we encourage you to try as many activities as you feel able to. However, you can sign up and only attend the activity that interests you.
10. WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING/ WEAR?
It is an essential requirement of entry to the gym, group fitness room and court areas that you have enclosed sport shoes and a personal sweat towel. Always wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move around in and we recommend a water bottle as cups are not permitted.
Aqua activites will require bathers and a towel, all other equipment is provided. For the walks, enclosed walking shoes are a must but we also recommend a hat, jacket, water bottle and sun screen.
11. CAN I BRING A FRIEND?
Anyone over 60 can attend but they will have to sign up to the membership to access the program. Casual entry passes per activity may be available, please check with your local centre for costs.
12. WHAT FACILITIES ARE AVAILABLE?
All the recreational centres have great facilities including showers and change rooms. ALAC also has a café, spa and steam room to relax after your session.
13. WHAT ARE THE PAYMENT OPTIONS/ CAN I PUT MY MEMBERSHIP ON HOLD?
Upfront payments can be made on a term by term basis and flexible payment options are available. Compensation is usually available if you are away for two or more weeks at a time. This is at the discretion of the local shire manager.

6. WHAT IF I HAVE AN INJURY?
We have activities suitable for all levels of mobility and fitness. For example, Active Recovery and Chair Yoga are activities suitable for people who are building up to being more active. Our friendly staff and instructors are always around to discuss your needs and help you choose the most suitable activities.
7. HOW LONG DO THE SESSIONS GO FOR?
The sessions usually run for 45mins – 1 hour. Spend some time after your session enjoying our facilities and have a coffee with friends at the café (Albany only).
8. WHAT IF I DON’T LIKE THE ACTIVITIES?
We take all feedback into consideration and if you are unhappy for any reason please see staff at reception so we can understand your concerns and build your advice into future programs.
