learning to sew. Two classes are offered to accommodate student's skill level.

what a resume is for, what to include on your resume and how to tailor your

This free class, at Army Community Service, covers the importance of goal

setting and your finances and reviews the eligibility rules and enrollment

ACS Relocation Office offers this free class every Tuesday and Thursday for

Military Family Members who wish to improve speaking the English language.

Enjoy a narrated tour of Fort Drum and the surrounding community offered

Ms. Kathy Taber-Montgomery will read and sign her book We Live in a Zoo,

which tells the story of a young boy’s view of learning to share with and relate

to multiple siblings, and furry and finned family members. Ms. Taber-

Montgomery is a military spouse who lives in Adams, NY and works on Fort

Drum. This is her first book! She will have copies available for sale.

Mobilization and Deployment offer training in best practices for those who

volunteer to be their unit's Family Readiness Group Key Caller. How to

conduct a call and how to handle difficult conversations.

Parent to Parent will present a course geared towards Military Families and the

PCS lifestyle, the Parent to Parent team will highlight how to make each school

move easier for your child and how best to prepare them for what lies ahead.

A free playgroup for children 6 months to 5 years of age on the first and third

Wednesday of each month to be held at the CYSS SKIES/Youth Sports Building

at P-10790 Chapel Drive. Group meets from 10 - 11 am each day. Call 772-

Training Available through Soldier and Family Assistance Center Social Services

Coordinator bi-weekly at the SFAC classroom. Participation in these classes

will be reported to ASAP, and will meet the regulatory requirements of yearly

substance abuse training (4 hours for Service Members, 3 hours for civilian

employees). The classes are for information only and Do Not fulfill any ASAP

Come cheer on your mattress running team! Four-person teams are challenged

to a race carrying their decorated mattress. After the race join us at the BOSS

This class teaches parents and care givers of infants and toddlers how sign

language can reduce frustration, boost confidence and accelerate verbal

This annual event is held at the Commons. A ceremony to recognizes

outstanding volunteers of the Fort Drum Community and Man and Woman of

The McEwen Library will celebrate National Library Week by welcoming back

Creative Expressions. Express yourself and learn how creative you can be by

starting a story and creating a scene. This program is for youth in grades 6 - 12.

Participants are asked to bring small items, photographs, and their imagination

in order to create a story with scene and photos. Allen Goudie 772-9099

This parenting program consisting of seven principles of discipline. Topics

include focusing on “can do,” offering appropriate choices, changing the

environment instead of the child’s behavior, working with and not against

This class will help parents identify “Bullying basics” and how to take steps if

their child is a victim of bullying or is the bully. Megan Chaple 772-5914

Celebrate Earth Day with BOSS and the Fort Drum Environmental crew. The

race will be start at Magrath Sports Complex upper parking lot where you will

be allowed to pledge to recycle. You will also be given to opportunity to

recycle your batteries and your old electronics. Open to Active Duty Military

assigned/attached to Fort Drum, Family Members, Retirees, Reservists, and

DoD Civilians employed on Fort Drum. Register at race site starting at 8:30

am the day of the event until the beginning of the race at 9 am. NY State

A Hiking day at Wolf Lake is offered by Parks and Recreation. Hikers will at

Parks & Recreation on the day of the hike and be transported to the location.

Fee for this activity is $10 per person. The Wolf Lake trail is dog friendly byt

not appropriate for strollers. Rich Cole 772-5169

CYS Services offers a carnival for children in grades 1 - 5 in the Youth Center

gym. Although geared toward that age group, all ages welcome. Food, inflatable

bounce house, and games are some of the fun offered. Army Community

Service is also on hand for a Child Identification and Safety event. McGruff the

Crime Dog will be ready to meet your child and Emergency Services will assist

families in completing child identification packets. Cost of the event is $4.00 for

members. Price includes games, prizes, food and drinks.

performance by developing the five dimensions of strength such as the physical,

A Lifeguard Course is being held at Magrath Sports Complex April 22 - 26 from

9 am - 5 pm each day. Fee is $350 per student with a discounted price offer to

Active Duty Soldiers. This course is taught by Red Cross instructors and leads

to Lifeguard certification. A swimming skills pre-course test is required to
