CHOIR NOTES April 14, 2010 FROM PASTOR DAVE
GROWTH GROUPS
TONIGHT:
Here’s a question
from this week’s
Growth Groups Guide
that you may wish to
use as you meet to-
gether tonight:
Read Titus 1:6-9. Which of these lead-ership qualities would you desire to see de-veloped in your life?
Get
your toe
warmed
up and
ready
for tap-
ping! A
beloved
tradi-
tion at OCEC is our bi-
annual Gospel Sing
concert, which this
year is scheduled for
Sunday, May 16 at
6pm. Thank you for
your input in selecting
some of the songs for
our concert. Using
your top 7 ―oldies‖
choices and adding a
few newer titles, here
is a preliminary song
list for Gospel Sing
2010:
1. Giving Thanks
2. Good Ol’ Gospel
Singing
3. Paid In Full
Through Jesus,
Amen
4. Promises One By
One
5. Satisfied
6. Lean On Me
7. That’s Him
8. Movin’ Up to Glo-
ryland
9. Look For Me
Around the
Throne
10.The First Day of
Forever
I was able to find re-
cordings of all these
songs, which I’ve put
on a CD for your use.
Two of the songs
(Satisfied and Movin’ Up to Gloryland) are
not exactly like your
music, but they’re
similar. If you are
able to, please con-
tribute $2 to help
cover the cost of the
CD.
To this list of 10 choir
songs, we’ll also add a
couple of ensemble
selections. I will
encourage but not re-
quire memorization for
this concert. How about
if we wear bright, solid
colors for our perform-
ance attire? Also, I’d
like to explore the
possibility of taking
selections from this
concert to the Mission
(City Team). What do
you say?
GOSPEL SING
REHEARSALS:
I’d like to extend next
Wednesday’s rehearsal
until 8:45pm, which will
allow time to rehearse
all our Gospel Sing
Titles. On the following
Wednesday, May 12,
please plan to go until
9pm. I also want to
add an extra rehearsal
during the week prior to
performance—Monday,
Friday or Saturday, May
10, 14 or 15. Your pref-
erence?
TV BROADCAST:
Janet Tremain announced
last week that the television
program about the case sur-
rounding her daughter will be
broadcast on Monday, May
17, 7pm on Direct TV’s Discovery Channel. The
program is titled, Solved: Extreme Forensics.
