Kenneth CutlerPSCT President2016-2017

Dear PSCT Members,

I would like to thank Dwight Wel-don of Weldon Laboratories, Inc. for presenting at the March meet-ing. Dwight always delivers a rivet-

ing presentation and last meeting was no exception. I think what I like best is that Dwight’s work almost always lends itself well to being told as a story with a beginning, middle, and ending. After listening to the story, there is something very satisfying about being able to understand why the coating failed. As a reminder to all members, the PSCT board is al-ways looking for our next great presenter with an interesting topic. Although we don’t have any more open spots this year, consider volunteering for next year.

The deadline for the Hiram P. Ball Memorial Scholarship and STEM grant has passed. We had a total of 6 appli-

PReSIDenTS MeSSAGe cants. The Scholarship Committee is now hard at work re-viewing all the applications. Awards will be announced in the May newsletter.

Our next social event will be a Pirates baseball game on April 24th. This will be a joint function with the Joint Chemi-cal group. As a reminder, your tickets need to be paid for by April 10th.

It’s my pleasure to announce the PSCT slate of Candidates for the 2017-2018 year. Chris gehly (Matthews International) will be running for Vice-President. Cheryl Roberts (KTA-Tator) will be running for Secretary. Dan Bickford (PPg) will be run-ning for Treasurer. Barbara Anderson (Troy) will be running for Director-at-Large. Jim Wasik will be running for ACA Society Liaison, which is a 2-year term. Continuing to serve will be Mark DePasquale (PPg) as President and Ken Cutler (Kop-Coat) as Past-President. Many thanks to these people for vol-unteering their services to continue making the PSCT a great organization!

Our next meeting on April 10th and will be at the Walnut grill in Wexford. The speaker, Maria Nargiello of Evonik, will present at 6 pm with a talk entitled “Mechanics of Matting a Coating” and will be followed by dinner. I hope to see all of you there!

PAInT POTBrij Sharma was picked for March’s Paint Pot, but was not in attendance. The Pot will rollover to $50 for this month’s drawing. Remember, in order to be eligible to win, you must be an active member and must be present at the meeting when drawn.
