•There are several different theoretical perspectives on critical literacy that have produced different pedagogical approaches to teaching and learning.

•All of these approaches share the basic premise that literacy requires the literate consumers of text to adopt a critical and questioning approach.

analysis of (spoken or written) language texts,

analysis of discourse practice (processes of text production, distribution and consumption)

analysis of discursive events as instances of sociocultural practice.

We can see a clear set of concerns across approches to Critical Literacy and Critical Discourse Analysis all are governed by a concern to understand text and practices of reading and writing in relationship to question of social change, cultural diversity, and political.
