  • Application software is a set of one or more programs designed to solve a specific problem or to do a specific task. The programs included in an application software are called application programs. The programmers who prepare application software are called application programmers.

  • An application software is the basic requirementof a computer system in order to perform anyOperation. A computer is not worth using if it isnot loaded with useful application softwares.These softwares enable the user to performmultiple tasks on the computer system.

  • There are literally millions of softwares availablefor a wide range of applications.They range fromsimple applications such as banking, hospitaladministration, insurance, inventory mngmnt. and tax returns, to complex scientific engnn.applications like weather forecasting, launchingof space shuttles,oil and natural gas exploration,design of complex structures like aircrafts,ships,bridges,sky-rise buildings etc.

  • The term WORD PROCESSING describes use of hardwareand software to create edit, view, format, store,retrieveand print documents (written material such as letters,reports, books etc.). A word processing software enablesus to do all these on a computer system.
