description

Given its sheer scale and complexity, Windows migration can be one of the most painful, costly and time-intensive IT projects today. There is an undeniable impact on the network, and striking the right balance between a successful and fast migration and not disrupting the flow of business data, yet insuring the right software applications are installed, are key considerations IT departments have to take when embarking on such a project. This paper looks at the process around identifying and reinstalling a user’s application set and how can it be automated during an OSD. Conceptually this process is often referred to as a “Package Mapping” or “Application Mapping” (App Mapping).
