Android installation

Requirements iONpilot is a self-scalable app that supports a variety of screen sizes and resolutions.

However, the main validation path is restricted to Samsung's standard 10” Android tablets.

Operating system: Requirement

Android version

≥ v4.0.3 (API level 15 Ice Cream Sandwich)

≤ v6.0 (API level 23 Marshmallow)

All “later" Android versions require an update

The app is currently not available to download from the Google Play App Store, but can be installed directly as an installation package from the "Unknown Sources” installation path prepared for Android

Settings – Security – Unknown Sources – Allows the installation of a cross platform .apk package

Installation 1. To install the installation package on the Android platform, it can be

connected to the PC via USB, for example.

A file explorer opens on the PC, which shows the externally accessible directories

2. Copy the installation package on to your PC (e.g. to the download directory)

3. Start the file browser on the tablet

The installation package should be located in this directory

4. Tap the .apk file to start the installation or upgrade

The following confirmation message appears

Machine image – To display a machine image as background for the map view, a

bitmap image with a predefined name can be copied to the Pictures directory

<Device memory>/Pictures/ht_machine.png

The app searches for this exact name

– The image format must be:

1800 x 700 pixels optimal for Samsung 10” display

32bpp BRGA with 32 bits per pixel and transparent selection

The image size can be adapted to the display size currently used.

– New devices appear as icons in the top left of the map view. In “Service Access” mode they can be placed anywhere in the map view.

In “User Access” mode, the iON device icons can be pressed to access the list view detail display

– On mobile phones that connect ad-hoc to a CANlink device, the devices can be listed in the list view. However, because the machine image is stored in the app, it cannot be loaded by the bus.

The app can however be operated without any problems without having to install a machine image

– The same applies to chart view data. This data can only be viewed locally on the device that recorded the data.

App status – In case of a problem when operating the app, the internal app status

can be sent to development for debugging purposes

– The status file is located in the following location:

<Device memory>/Documents/ht_ion_pilot_configuration.txt

The entire document folder can be copied, if necessary

Windows installation

Requirements – The iONpilot app is a universal Windows platform (UWP) application

that can be used as a PC desktop application with mouse and keyboard, but also can be installed on Microsoft Surface and mobile devices and operated via touch screen.

– Operating system

Windows version ≥ Windows 10

– The app is currently not available to download from the Microsoft App Store, but is available via the Microsoft cross-platform developer function.

Settings – Update and Security – For Developers – Developer Mode

This mode allows you to install apps signed by the developer

– The app package must be extracted from the zip file and stored in a separate directory.

– Once extracted, the following files should be in the installation directory:

As an example for iONpilot.4.2

Application certificate – On Windows 10, only applications with the supplied certificate can be

installed.

– The supplied certificate must be registered under Windows before installation

Example of iONpilot Version 1.0.8 certificate

Double-click – Install certificate… – Local computer

Starts the Certificate Import Wizard and lets you choose a location.

Next – Automatically select certificate store

Next – Finish

If "Import was successful" appears as a confirmation message, the certificate has been installed correctly.

Installation script – Installation is carried out via an installation script, which first checks

whether the cross-platform developer mode is activated and whether the certificate has been installed correctly

– The supplied installation script must be run in Microsoft PowerShell

Add-AppDevPackage.ps1

Right mouse button – Run with PowerShell

– The following prompt appears because the script itself is not trusted:

Do you want to run software from this untrusted

publisher?

M – Enter

Starts the installation script in PowerShell.

– After the installation procedure, the following message appears:

Success: Your app was successfully installed.

Press Enter to continue...:

Enter

Closes PowerShell again. Installation is complete.
