Woodcock Reading Mastery Test–Third Edition (WRMT-3)
Oral Reading Fluency
Phonological Awareness
Rapid Automatic Naming
Word Attack
Word Comprehension
Word Identification
1 The APAT Phonemic Awareness subtest contains four parts. Nonsense words are used in three parts, but
the first part, “Recognition,” does not use words; rather it involves the child identifying an isolated sound
that matches a target sound. 2 The QPRT has a 10-minute time limit, but the publisher notes that this is not considered a speeded test of
reading as virtually all participants in the standardization group were able to complete it within 10 minutes. 3 The TORC, TOSCRF, and TOSWRF were considered as having “connected text,” as all words are
connected without spacing; it is the examinee who must demarcate the end of a word and beginning of a
new word by drawing a line between each word. 4 The Word Reading task of the WFAS does not have a prescribed time limit, but if the examinee does not
respond to a word after 3 seconds or is having “continued difficulty sounding out the word,” the examiner
allows a “few more seconds” for a response and is directed to record a “0” for the item if no response is
rendered within that time frame.

1 This subtest uses an audiorecording, rather than the examiner, to present test stimuli. There are two parts
to this subtest. The first part uses pictures and requires the examinee to point to the picture of a word that
was presented, in parts, on an audiorecording. The second part does not use pictures and instead requires
the examinee to say, as a whole, the segmented word that he or she heard from an audiorecording.
2 The CELF-Pre2 Phonological Awareness subtest requires motor movements for specific items (e.g.,
clapping). 3 The EVT-2 is not a timed measure; however, an item time limit is prescribed (e.g., 10 seconds per item). 4 This subtest requires a simple motor response (e.g., pointing) for specific items.
