eGrid Fossil Generation, PV Generation, andEmission Offset Profiles

Contour plots show total eGrid fossil generation, PVGeneration, and load shape following emission offsets forSO2, NOx, and CO2. The avoided emissions from PV (or theemission offsets) are a multiple of the load shape followingemission rates (kg/MWh) and the total PV generation in thesubregion per monitored PV capacity (kWh/kW). The resultis the emissions avoided by the PV generation permonitored PV capacity (g/kW).

Below the contour plot is a chart that displays the totaleGrid generation in TWh and the maximum hourlygeneration in GW. The eGrid generation is normalized to itspeak hour. The chart also shows the total (MWh) andmaximum hourly (kW) PV generation. The PV generationcontours are normalized to the hourly monitored capacity. This takes in to account PV systems in the subregion thatbreak or are installed during the year. The chart shows totalavoided emissions in kg for the year for each emission andthe average avoided emissions per MWh of PV generation.

All plots are for 2002. Simulated PV generation is shown forsubregions where actual PV system data were not available.

All contour plots are for NWPN (Pacific Northwest) in 2001. eGrid fossil load is normalized to its 2002 peak.Offsets are per monitored PV capacity in the hour and for load shape following generation. Annual total andpeak generation are noted for eGrid fossil and PV generation, as are total emission offsets and averageoffsets per MWh of PV generation for each emission. SEPA PV data is not available after 2001.
