difficulties inherent in moving to a new country and assimilating into its culture, Bet-David eventually landed a position at financial firm Morgan Stanley. But he wanted to do more and, more importantly, believed he could. He decided to found his own financial firm, PHP Agency (meaning People Helping People), in 2009 — "the worst time …[to] start a financial firm" — with far fewer resources than his competitors. Instead of worrying about what he didn't have in financial capital, he made the most of what he did in social capital. "Social capital — to me — is people that believe in your product," he tells A Plus. By increasing the believers in his product, he eventually attracted the right investors."The most important skill set one can learn is processing issues," he explains. "The key to being a great processor of issues is to find the seed of the problem." Instead of focusing on the "final problem," he advises people to get a piece of paper and pen, write down the issue, and then ask themselves "What is causing this?" It may take asking that same question dozens of times before you can get to that "seed." Once you do get there, however, Bet-David affirms, "You solve the seed, and the obstacle disappears."

Live without limitsAt age 12, Isaac Lidsky was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa, a rare degenerative disease of the retina. He slowly began losing his sight, eventually going blind at 25. Nevertheless, being physically unable to see his goals didn't stop him from going after them. He graduated from Harvard University at 19 with an honors degree in mathematics and computer science and later graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School.Though Lidsky's "preconceived misconceptions about disabilities and limitations" left him feeling "depressed and terrified" about his illness, according to Business News Daily, the support of others encouraged him to look beyond his obstacles and imagine a finish line. The key to his success, Lidsky told the publication, was discovering that the "mental images about blindness and the limitations it would impose upon [him] were "a self-limiting fiction." "I learned that the ultimate responsibility for my life and my limitations begins and ends with me," Lidsky added. "It is my responsibility to proactively identify ... obstacles in my way and to look for solutions. There is no limit to the human ability to adapt or the human imagination to create." By letting his own run wild, he's made some pretty impressive accomplishments. From founding and selling a tech company to serving as a Department of Justice lawyer to hosting a main stage TED Talk about creating your own reality. This wealth of experience has led to his current success as the CEO of ODC Construction, a company that continues to build thousands of homes in Florida. The resilience these five people have shown in both their professional and personal lives prove anything is possible. Each one stood face to face with an obstacle with nowhere to look for the strength to overcome it but in themselves. They never knew they had it in them until they had to — and they did.

It was judo, not football, that sparked her competitive instincts when she was nine years old, after watching a demonstration at school."I've always liked challenges, since I was a kid," she explains.Sarah is third in the world ranking for her category (-48kg), which all but guarantees her spot at the 2012 Olympics in London. But her first big challenge in the sport was not on the mat.She had to defy her parents' initial reproval when they heard that the youngest of their three daughters was taking up "a boy's sport"."In the beginning my parents didn't accept it. I was very young and they said I had to study and be more ambitious, think of a career for my future. They'd say it was a masculine sport, but I insisted until I managed to change their mind," recalls Sarah.Ironically, that little girl who would sneak out to practice after school without telling her parents now has the chance of being the first woman to win Brazil a gold medal. In terms of results, judo is Brazil's second Olympic sport, with 15 medals - behind sailing, with 16. But women have only been able to win Olympic medals in judo since 1992. So far, Brazil has one female bronze, earned by Kathleen Quadros in Beijing.

Cesar Cielo - an excelente swimmerAs the end of the year approaches, Cielo is the only three-time 50-meter freestyle world champion in history and the all-time fastest swimmer before and after the “super suits” (20s91 is the world record and 21s32 is the time in the post-“super suits” period). When questioned about the new Olympic cycle, up to 2016, the swimmer says: “I want to swim fast. What really motivates me is to swim fast.”

Cielo reaches the end of the season as the two-time 50-meter butterfly world champion and as the three-time 50-meter freestyle champion. He has got 11 World Championship medals – six of them are gold and consecutive, in Olympic pools – Rome/2009, Shanghai/2011 and Barcelona/2013. He is an Olympic champion in the 50-meter freestyle (Beijing/2008), and has also got two bronze Olympic medals (in the 100-meter freestyle in Beijing/2008 and in the 50-meter freestyle in London/2012). In addition, the swimmer is the world record-holder in the 100-meter freestyle (46s91) and he says that his main challenge is racing against the clock. This season was filled with challenges until the wanted and unprecedented victory in August, when he became the three-time 50-meter freestyle world champion, reaching the all-time best mark in the post-“super suits” period. Cesar Cielo faced changes related to training with the American coach Scott Goodrich, who accepted the challenge of training him in São Paulo. The two athletes used to swim together, while both lived in Auburn, in Alabama (USA), and they are pretty much the same age. Cielo also faced the situation of leaving Flamengo and having no prospect of a new club – he competed in the Troféu Maria Lenk representing the Clube de Campo de Piracicaba. Cielo still had his greatest challenge ahead: his complete recovery – and regaining trust – after his knee surgery, at the end of 2012.

Most of us are creatures of habit. We buy the same foods from the same grocery store, prepare the same recipes over and over, and live within our own familiar routines. But if you're serious about eating healthier and losing weight, you need to shake it up, change those bad eating habits, and start thinking differently about your diet and lifestyle. The problem is that we get so comfortable in our ways that it's hard to give up those old habits."Many people are skeptical about changing their diets because they have grown accustomed to eating or drinking the same foods, and there is a fear of the unknown or trying something new," says John Foreyt, PhD, director of the Baylor College of Medicine Behavioral Medicine Research Center.Even when you want to change, old habits die hard."Over time, habits become automatic, learned behaviors, and these are stronger than new habits you are trying to incorporate into your life," says Foreyt.Even those who manage to change their bad eating habits can easily fall back on their old ways during times of stress. When you're feeling weak or vulnerable, automatic responses often override good intentions."Everything can be going along just fine until you hit a rough patch and feelings of boredom, loneliness, depression, or ... any kind of stress," says Foreyt.Foreyt says tackling bad eating and exercise habits requires a three-pronged approach:1. Being aware of the bad habits you want to fix.2. Figuring out why these habits exist.3. Figuring out how you'll slowly change your bad eating and exercise habits into healthier new

ones.Available at <http://www.webmd.com/diet/obesity/features/6-steps-to-changing-bad-eating-habits#1>.

Accessed in: April 2017According to Foreyt, why is it so difficult for some people to change their eating

habits?a) because they prefer to eat what they have always eaten since childhood to maintain

family cultureb) because they do not believe that changing eating habits makes any difference in

their quality of lifec) because they are pressured by the culture of their countries to maintain the same

alimentary habitd) because healthier foods are more expensive than fast food and there is no incentive

for the country to cut costse) because they have grown accustomed to eating or drinking the same foods, and

there is a fear of the unknown or trying something new

Questão 9Nível de dificuldade: Fácil – Alternativa Correta: C – Habilidade do ENEM: H5 What is the best way, according to Foreyt, to get rid of bad eating habits?a) Being aware of the bad habits you want to fix, figuring out why these habits exist

Read the text below to answer the questions 10 and 11.

Compulsive Overeating and How to Stop ItThink back to the last time you ate so much you felt absolutely stuffed. Were you tearing into a huge cake to celebrate a friend’s birthday? Loading up on turkey and sweet potatoes at Thanksgiving? Or were you at home alone, maybe at the end of a tough day? How did you feel afterward -- simply annoyed that you gave yourself a stomachache? Or were you tormented by guilt or shame?

Eating too much every once in a while is normal. So is eating for emotional reasons. “From the moment we’re born, we’re nurtured with food, rewarded with food, and so emotional connections to food are normal,” says Michelle May, MD, author of Eat What You Love, Love What You Eat.

People who compulsively overeat, though, may use food as their only way of coping with negative emotions. As a result, they often feel that their eating is out of control. They think about food all the time and feel guilty, ashamed, or depressed after eating. “That’s very different from what someone feels after, say, eating a big Thanksgiving meal,” May says. “You might feel full, and you might regret having had that last slice of pie, but you’re not consumed with shame.”

Some people who overeat have a clinical disorder called binge eating disorder (BED). People with BED compulsively eat large amounts of food in a short amount of time and feel guilt or shame afterward. And they do so often: at least once a week over a period of at least 3 months.

Not everyone who overeats is a binger. You might eat a lot of food throughout the day, rather than all in one sitting. And you might not do it regularly, but only when you’re feeling stressed, lonely, or upset.

How does it start? In some cases, people simply overeat out of mindless habit, like always sitting down with a bag of chips in front of the TV at night. But oftentimes, it’s the result of underlying emotional problems. Having a negative body image can play a big role.

Questão 10Nível de dificuldade: Média – Habilidade do ENEM: H5; H6; H7 – For the author, to what factor is food associated? What are the sensations after eating an exaggerated amount?

Food is associated with an emotional factor. From the moment we’re born, we’re nurtured

with food, rewarded with food, and so emotional connections to food are normal (cf. Michelle

May).

People who compulsively overeat may use food as their only way of coping with negative

emotions. As a result, they often feel that their eating is out of control. They think about food

all the time and feel guilty, ashamed, or depressed after eating.

Questão 11Nível de dificuldade: Média – Habilidade do ENEM: H5; H7; H8 According to the text, what are the two motives that can start binge eating disorder (BED)?

The two motives are mindless habit and emotional problems. In some cases, people simply

overeat out of mindless habit, like always sitting down with a bag of chips in front of the TV at

night. But oftentimes, it’s the result of underlying emotional problems. Having a negative body

image can play a big role.
