The RPP standard
APM RPP is available to anyone, from any professional
background, with relevant experience of managing
others in a project environment.
RPP is a robust assessment of the APM FIVE
Dimensions of Professionalism with successful
candidates being entered onto the APM Register of
Project Professionals.
The standard was initially launched in 2011 and has
been refreshed and launched in 2017.
APM Registered Project Professional (RPP) is a pan-sector
standard that demonstrates responsible
leadership and the competences necessary for project,
programme or portfolio management.

Candidate time required: typically 40 to 60 hours to complete
*Note 1: If candidate holds APM PPQ or APM PQ, then candidate is NOT
required to complete the breadth of knowledge questions
2. Application Form assessed
Application checked for completeness and within word count limits
Both referees contacted by email
CPD Log assessed by APM
Application Form assessed by qualified RPP assessor
If candidate has met the RPP standard, then RPP assessor
provides assessment report to APM for use at the candidate
Interview by RPP assessors
If candidate has NOT met the RPP standard, then RPP
assessor provides assessment report to APM for onward
communication to the Candidate
3. Candidate invited to Interview
If successful at Step 2, then APM invites the Candidate to attend an
Interview within the next 12 months
Candidate books time and location at one of APM scheduled events
(face-to-face or video link also available)
Candidate meets two RPP Assessors for interview for 45-60 minutes
Meet with two RPP Assessors to answer competence based
questions
Candidate informed if successful or not by APM
within a few weeks (not confirmed at the event)
If successful, added to APM RPP public register
Total RPP process - time and cost
How long does it take?
Depends on Candidate motivation and time available to commit to
the preparation required.
Typical is 7 to 10 months from start to finish including all Candidate
and APM steps
Driven Candidates can achieve in 4 to 6 months
Recommended Candidate sets a clear timeline to keep momentum
How much does it cost?
APM update their fees each year. For current fees see:

Fees paid in two stages – one fee when candidate submits RPP
Application Form to APM for assessment and then if successful, a
second fee when booking the Interview
Changes – 2nd Edition process (2017) vs original RPP process
