This year’s winner appears to be Apella Resources Inc., which jumped as much as 64% on Wednesday. The Vancouver-based miner won a long-running legal battle over the Lac Dore deposit in Quebec, a potentially rich source of vanadium. Apella and another company tried to stake the same claims in the midst of a staking rush in 2007. Last year, the government refused to award some of the claims to either company. But now a judge has awarded them to Apella. “This is precisely the outcome we sought, nothing more, nothing less,” chief executive Patrick O’Brien said in a statement. It wouldn’t be a PDAC show without some junior getting a massive spike in its share price on positive news.
