Two splendid students of our school i.e. Sahejeet Singh of class VIII and Aditya Singh Ramola of class IX havereceived an award for provisional discovery of an Asteroidduring SPACE Annual Meet (SAM) on January 21, 2017.They received the award by Dr. Paul A Rosen, Scientist, NASA- ISRO, NASA-JPL and Mr. Sachin Bahmba,Chairman & Managing Director, SPACE.

The students from The Indian Heights School added another feather to the cap when they bagged 11 Gold Medals and 18Silver Medals in World Scholar's Cup 2016, Dwarka Round.The students participated at both Junior and Senior level andparticipated in each of the four main event namely, the Scholar'sChallenge, Collaborative Writing, The Team Debate, and theScholar's Bowl.The students at both the levels displayed anoverwhelming response as they worked together as a team andclinched medals in different categories.

The school crowned its newly elected student council members for the primary wing during the Investiture Ceremony held amidstmuch exuberance and exhilarationon July 22,2016. The solemn ceremony was graced by the chief guest Lt. Gen A C Soneja

(Retd) AVSM*, VSM, Aryan Khajuria sworn as the Head Boy and Saanvi Shakya was elected as the newly appointed Head Girl. The studentcouncil took oath of office and pledged to work with sincerity and dedication.

Developing Tender Saplings into Global Citizens of FutureLittle Steps

The pre-primary wing of the schoolcomprising of classes Nursery and Prepcaters to the needs and demandsof early childhood learning. The focusin Prep is on cognitive development, enhancement of the language andinterpersonal skills through an openended curriculum. Activities are anintegral part of the curriculum thus variousactivities are organized from time to timeto build cognitive kinesthetic skills of children. Competitions such as Danceand Music, Recitation, Fancy dress, Show and tell, Special Days Observancesand Field Trips are planned in such a waythat each child is well acquainted andinformed about the world around.

The children are sensitised to the social and cultural concerns and encouraged to think, reflect on issues and arrive at their own solutions. The main objective behind the curriculum is to enable the children to communicate effectively and to develop the integrated skills and creativity required for them to grow as confident and independent individuals.

“The Charter of United Nations expresses the noblest aspirations of man: abjuration of force,the assurance of human rights and fundamental freedoms for all without distinction as to race,language or religion; thereby safeguarding ofinternational peace and security.” The School hosted the second conference of Sankalp Sahodaya Model United Nations – 2017 as an educational simulation encouraging students to learn aboutdiplomacy, international relations, and United Nations.The event garnered the participation of UN HighCommissioner for Refugees. Agenda: PromotingLivelihood and Education for Refugees and Displacedpersons. The day was the centre stage of thoughtful deliberations, heated discussions and effectivesolutions as the overwhelming delegates participated in high spirit and engaged in constructivedebates to chalk out ways and means to resolve and combat the pressing issues so as to establishpeace and harmony among nations of the world.

School assemblies ensure wholeness thereby ensuring the participation of a whole community, theentire primary, middle and senior school. The assemblies in school foster a sense of togethernessand unity and are organized to commemorate Special Days, International Observances, UN Observancesand to generate moral values. The assemblies not only encourage the oratory skills through a wide arrayof presentational skills like quiz, skits, poem recitation, song and dance performances and talk shows butalso inculcate the skills of group dynamics, team work, research and time management.

Celebrations at TIHS are an integral part of joyful learning, community building and thoughtprovoking processes. Religious festivals from across religions, national festivals and festivals relatedto our environment are celebrated with great enthusiasm, fervour and pride. Children are exposed tothe essence of the festivals through stories, music, dance, food, discussions and a variety of hands-onactivities and projects. Festive celebrations make positive contributions to students self- developmentand encourage them to reflect on universal values like mutual- respect, cooperation, peace, harmony and brotherhood.

The students have been working actively to strongly address the issues that adversely affect our generalsurroundings and mankind on a whole be it environmental , social or following some general rules.To generate awareness the school conducted array of activities ranging from awareness walk,poster making, slogan writing, inter-house quiz, street plays, mock drills and distributing leafletsto the locals and holding one to one talk sessions. The alarming issues covered were Cyber Safety,Anti Cracker Drive, Cleanliness Drive, Tree Plantation , Zero Garbage , Go Green Week, Say No to Tobacco, Anti Poly Bag Campaign, No Smoking Zone, Save Water, Save Power, Disaster Management and Road Safety Campaign to name a few.

Euphony 2016-17 was conducted with lot of zeal as the event witnessed a whole hearted participation of more than 50 schools in the vicinity and over 1000 participants in various competitions. The fest aims to integrate young and inquisitive minds to come under one common platform to give shape to their ideas and enhance their skills and knowledge in various competitions. The participants displayed their creativity and talent as theyparticipated in wide array of activities ranging from 'Mime, 'Flameless Cooking', ‘Spin a Yarn’, 'Origami', Folk Dance Competition', Wall Magazine' to name a few. A consistent, strenuous and unbeatable performance was the mantra that inspired all the schools to perform well.

KATHAK DANCE PERFORMANCE

UNDER THE AEGIS OF SPIC MACAY

The Indian Heights School under the aegis of Spic Macay organized a Kathak Dance performance by Monisa Nayak . The veteran artist began her dance performance through the lecture demonstrationmethod and conveyed beautifully how dance and music form an integral part of everyday life and are inextricablywoven into the religious and social fabric of the people.The learners also learnt the nuances of the venerateddance form as they performed mudras on counts. Theprogram was attended by students and teachersof neighbouring schools of Dwarka. It was indeed a rich learning experience for everyone as they were enchanted and mesmerized by the splendid and divine dance performance.

To equip the students as well as the facilitators,the school has been conducting regular seminars, workshops (online workshops) and conferences. These workshops not only encourage hands-on experience but also motivate learners thereby making teaching learning process interesting. The workshops also teach practical problem solving skills to students and also acquaint them with latest updates on new trades and avenues before they pass out from the school. Regular oriental and interactive sessions for parents by experts and resource persons also provide a platform to update the parents and also to address their queries especially when it comes to career counselling.

Memories of school educational trips, picnics and excursions are among the most prominent andprized in the formative years, largely because they are a welcome break in the routine for both students and teachers. The school organized copious excursions like visits to Aero Planet India, Nagesh Park, Delhi Cantt., Eco Adventure Camp at Najafgarh, Trip to Sariska and Nehru Planetarium.Besides, the students were also taken to various historical monuments to make them students awareabout the rich cultural heritage like visit to Qutub Minar, Lotus Temple ,Humayun's Tomb and Iskcon Temple in Dwarka, etc.

'The wonder of teaching is watching caterpillars become butterflies’The Indian Heights School hosted a farewell get- together to ceremonially bid adieu to theoutgoing batch of 2016-17 on Jan 28, 2017. Students of class XI put up a splendid showwith the help of their teachers, art, dance and music department. The students of class XIIcame formally attired in beautiful gowns and suits in accordance with the 'masquerade' theme.The teachers showered their blessings on the outgoing batch and the students gave heart-warming valedictory speeches and also recounted their school experiences in emotional andnostalgic overtones. The Principal, Ms Archana Narain gave a very motivating and hearttouching speech. In her speech she showered her blessings on the students wishing them to attain greater heights as they step out of the portals of the school to chase their dreams and aspirations.
