YEAR 6 DOCKER DERBY

Harvey Bulls Green Y4 v Dalyellup White Y4

HBL Lions Y5 v Dalyellup Purple Y5

A really pleasing effort by the boys against strong opposition. As the weeks have progressed through the season the boys game awareness and positioning has improved and they are implementing what we have been talking about at train-ing, and that is to mark your player. The boys made a real conscious effort to remember this and they applied it during the game, for longer periods than they have done previously. What was most impressive on the day is the development of the boys commitment to tackle the opposing player, and ensure that the tack-le sticks and this could not be have been demonstrated any better on the day than by Taij Cox’s commitment to the tackle, hence he was awarded player of the match.

Well done to Taij and to all the boys for their development and application during the game. Keep going with the enthusiasm and enjoyment to the game.

South Bunbury White Y4 v Dalyellup Green Y4

HBL Pride Y6 v Dalyellup White Y6

Another late 1.15pm start for the boys who made the trek to Leschenault to take on the HBL Lions.

I’m guessing they must have had earlier lunches this week because they seemed to be a lot more

energetic and enthusiastic this week…..maybe the absence of rain and hail played a part. However,

although the boys seemed to be switched on early we almost had a situation with their jumpers,

thankfully arriving 30 seconds before the bounce and then an elusive runners vest causing a bit of

panic before the first bounce.

The game was played in windy conditions but the boys started really well once again applying excel-

lent pressure all over the ground and executing effective tackles especially in the first half where

there was a lot of stoppages. Special mention must go to Kye and Divan for their hardness in this

area all day.

It took a while for most to get their judgement right on the ball flight, especially with the wind but by

the second half it was like something had clicked as if the wind wasn’t going to get the better of them

and away they went. All of a sudden there was a plethora of intercept marks, handball chains and

some clean foot skills especially out of defence. There was also some exceptional overhead marking

especially from Tyson and Baiden who pulled down plenty throughout the day.

Scoring seemed to become easier as the game wore on and they ran out the game really strongly in

most areas. Well done to Jack Adams also on his very first game of football…...welcome Jack.

Another well rounded effort from a team that's thoroughly enjoying their football. Looking forward to

taking on Dalyellup Purple on the big stage on Friday night football!

The South West Pets awards this week went to Tyson & Baiden for their strong marking and Kye

and Divan for their exceptional pressure and tackling…..well done boys.

Matt.

Congratulations to Brady Tucker from Year 6 Purple, 50 games—Well Done

The Year 6 Purple Dockers got a sleep in this week with a 13:15 game at Leschenault against HBL

Lions. We started off with a winning formula as parking was a breeze, the sun was out and not a

drop of rain was threatening. It was a big day for Brady Tucker, aka Brades, celebrating his 11 th

Birthday (Sunday 12th), presented with his Club 50th game medal, a voucher from South West Pets

and being honoured with Captain for the game.

Brady did not disappoint and started the first quarter with a couple of good strong contested marks in

the back line following up with long powerful kicks down the ground to his team mates. It was a day

of strong marks with Jett Woods and Jordan Radford unafraid of their physical opposition, throwing

themselves into the contest with inspiring chest marks. Mitch Attwood did well getting in front of his

opposition, his height and strong hands taking ownership of the ball several times.

Goals weren’t rare by either side with Jett kicking a bag, while Finn and Khye were also on point.

Callum and Mitch Kendle did not disappoint with their usual hunger for the ball, chasing down the

opposition and never giving up. There might be something to be said for the after lunch bounce down

with boys having plenty of rest time in the morning and plenty of energy and pace in the afternoon.

They were focused and lively, the boys ran hard and far, Chase, Jye, Jake and our two Jacobs were

always in contention and crowding the Lions.

Two of our pocket rockets Kyan and Austin were clear possession winners often seen emerging from

the pack, out manoeuvring their opponents and getting a quick boot to ball. We all know without the

umpires we wouldn’t have a game and that there is a shortage of umpires in the junior division. Our

two umpires were fair and focused, so much so our Goalie (Brady’s Dad) was not immune to their

attention. Coaching the player where to kick the ball in from had distracted our Goalie from waving

the flag, the game was halted until task completed, no flies on them.

On finishing the game they always enjoy the celebratory drenching of the Captain, I do believe Brady

was thankful for the sunshine and heater in the car ride home. This week we have the Derby against

Dalyellup White, Coach Simon will be enjoying some quiet time in Bali, we are thankful for Thorpie

for stepping in to lead the boys.

Dalyellup Purple Yr7 v HBL Lions at Leschenault

Congratulations to Brody Davies on his 50 game milestone.

Last Friday 18 Dalyellup players were determined to play well against the Lions and aimed to bring home the chocolates for Brody’s 50 game. Unfortunately we fell 6 goals short with the final score 9.5 being 59 points to 3.6 totalling 24 points. The boys played in the cold conditions as if the ball was not meant to be attacked and with the Lions running in lines they outscored us by maintaining possession. Goals kicked by the Dockers came from Jai, Kaelan and Preston. Thanks to Jordan and Khye from the year 6’s who filled in for the year 7 players who were not available. Play of the night goes to Jordan who single handedly attacked the footy against 4 lions and came out with possession in the third quarter. Well done mate great game.

Goal kickers this week were 1 goal to Jai, Kaelan and Preston. Backline players this week were Sebastian, Noah and Isiah. Centreline players of the week go to Nicho-las E, Leyland and Will. The South West Pets best player vouchers went this week to Menessah and Brady for their outstanding four quarter efforts. Thanks again to SW Pets for their support.

Thanks also to James, Jake and Mr Johnston – Lingham for helping out with the team by running and goal umpiring.

Training this week will focus upon “creative talk” and “being first to the footy, sup-porting and sheparding for each other”.

We play this weekend in Collie (1 hour from Bunbury) and need to be at the game at least 30 minutes before we run onto the field. Let’s all make sure arrangements are in place to be early to the oval.

Club Song

Cheer, cheer, the purple and white,

Honour the name by day and by night,

Lift that noble banner high,

Shake down the thunder from the sky,

Whether the odds be great or be small,

Dalyellup go in and win overall,

While her loyal sons are marching

Onwards to victory!

You may have noticed that we now have some fabulous new sponsors on board in

addition to last year to support our growing club. As we continue to expand we need

to fundraise and find other avenues for income in order to survive so we can afford to

purchase all the jumpers, footy, apparel and other equipment for us to operate and

thrive. You are already seeing the benefits of having these fantastic companies on

board with subsidised shorts, socks and training singlets for some teams. So please,

where you can, show your support for our sponsors in the market place and

shop with them.

We always have room for additional sponsors so please, if you are looking for an op-

portunity to ’get on board’ as a sponsor of the Worlds GREATEST Junior Footy Club,

then please contact me and I can talk you through it.
