The DASN (E&LM) has 3 missions:
1. Provide focus on research, development and acquisition of systems which enable the
combat effectiveness of operating forces in an expeditionary role.
• USMC programs include amphibious vehicles, tactical wheeled vehicles, tanks,
ground radars, command and control, body armor, small arms, munitions, and
artillery.
• USN programs include improvised explosive device (IED) countermeasures,
explosive ordnance disposal equipment, biometric systems, surface connector
platforms, and marine mammal systems.
2. Oversee and coordinate rapid acquisition policy and activities in support of urgent needs
across the DON.
3. Oversee and coordinate policy for the DON’s acquisition logistics (including property
management). Act as the National Lead for the DON’s Life Cycle Logistics (LCL)
workforce.
