Manifesto : “Let The Doctors Prescribe” Collective

When the President of the French Republic addressed the na6on on the 28th of October, he explained that there were basically three ways to tackle this epidemic:

• No lockdowns at all in the expecta6on of achieving herd immunity, but this would mean accep6ng higher mortality levels.

• Shield only the most vulnerable since Covid-19 kills primarily the elderly (average age at death is 84 years).

• Lock everyone down, i.e. the path chosen by the French government. This was also the solu6on chosen during the Great Plague of the 18th century. Has our medicine made no progress in 3 centuries?

As doctors, we were shocked to note that not once did our President speak of early treatment by the aQending physician. What if there were another way to deal with this? Another solu6on should have been proposed! As health care providers we can affirm that there is a FOURTH WAY!

As is the case for all infec6ous diseases, there are therapeu6c approaches which are poten6al game changers from a health standpoint, as well as economically and socially.

When dealing with Covid-19, rather than remaining cloistered at home with fear in our bellies, hoping that we’ll escape the virus, we must all be proac6ve.

SO WHAT IS THIS FOURTH WAY?

When dealing with any virus, it is key to boost the immune system and lots of approaches have proven their effec6veness in this arena:

- BeQer basic hygiene

- Regular physical exercise, so difficult when locked down but essen6al.

- Hope, posi6ve thoughts and medita6on instead of fear, which has a nega6ve effect on the immune system.

- Healthy nutri6on and food supplements: vitamins D and C, zinc, probio6cs and many other supplements have been shown to improve immunity and reduce the risk of infec6ous diseases, including coronavirus-related infec6ons

There are other complementary approaches to be considered by your doctor depending on his prac6ce but one thing is certain: we need to build our resistance rather than run from the enemy. This is the very first thing to do if we want to win the “war”.

We request that tes6ng for Covid-19 be prescribed by doctors and that we stop tes6ng everyone under the sun. The current situa6on has several inherent pi^alls:

- Many results are false posi6ves because of the chosen method, especially in France. This means that those tested may receive falsely posi6ve results when they are in fact neither ill nor contagious.

- Tests administered without the presence of a doctor are ineffec6ve from an epidemiological standpoint and psychologically very stressful; this contributes to lowering our immunity.

- The choice of free tests available without a prescrip6on costs a fortune: around 500 million taxpayer euros per month. Part of this money could certainly be put to beQer use to, for example open up new ICU beds and recruit more hospital staff. We demand that our taxes be put to beQer use.

A medical diagnosis is based just as much on clinical observa6on as on biology. Tests should therefore be prescribed and interpreted by a doctor who “knows” his pa6ent.

When faced with any disease, is it not our duty to treat our pa6ents? And if there is no treatment unanimously approved by the medical profession, is that a reason to do nothing?

Since this virus first appeared a year ago, we have learned a great deal about its iden6ty and its behaviour. We know that it has two phases of development: first an infec6ous viral phase similar to any influenza, followed by an inflammatory phase in which the virus itself is no longer directly implicated.

It is during this inflammatory phase that a pa6ent may end up in hospital or in the ICU. Fortunately, most people have strong enough immune systems to never reach this point but those who are weaker and more vulnerable are not as lucky.

Above all, PREVENTION

TARGETED SCREENING

EARLY TREATMENT

In spite of all the televised baQling of egos, we represent thousands of doctors who have treated pa6ents in the ini6al phase of the disease, who needed us to avoid these complica6ons, and we see it every day: IT WORKS.

The scien6sts who dismiss this only do so on the basis of research which is currently insufficient: insufficient to prove without a shadow of a doubt that such treatments work but also insufficient to prove that they do not work. Oien they have absolutely no personal experience of these treatments, which they reject out of hand. Otherwise, they would not be so peremptory. There are however over one hundred studies worldwide which demonstrate the effec6veness of early treatment in reducing the numbers of hospitalisa6ons, respiratory sequellae and deaths.

Under these condi6ons, many doctors throughout the world and par6cularly in France, have decided to treat their pa6ents despite the lack of a consensus and nega6ve pressure from powers that be. This is our profession and we will never agree to being prevented from prac6sing. We are responsible individuals – it’s 6me to trust us. In trea6ng our pa6ents this way, we have observed that they recover much more rapidly, deteriorate less and far fewer are transferred to hospital. It is high 6me this clinical experience be taken into account rather than basing all decisions on hospital research alone because the 6me to start treatment is in the doctor’s office, BEFORE the pa6ent ends up in hospital.

Many na6onal and interna6onal publica6ons suggest that EARLY TREATMENT involves one or more of these approaches:

- High dose zinc (60mg on average)

- Mega-doses of vitamin C (several grams per day), which has an6-viral proper6es, boosts our immunity and reduces fa6que.

- Vitamin D if it has not already been prescribed as a preventa6ve measure (it has been shown that those with severe cases oien have very low levels of vitamin D in the blood).

- Azithromycin, an an6bio6c molecule whose configura6on also gives it an6-viral proper6es, is used to reduce the risk of secondary bacterial infec6on. In many cases, Azithromycin alone can remove symptoms in a maQer of days.

- Hydroxychloroquine (sold in France under the name Plaquenil ®) whose effec6veness in trea6ng this virus has been well established. It is however only useful if given during the ini6al phase of the disease.

There are in fact other complementary approaches to choose to treat and help pa6ents recover: macrolide an6bio6cs, Doxycycline (another an6bio6c), Ivermec6n (an an6-parasi6c medica6on like Hydroxychloroquine), Artemisia annua, or wormwood, an an6parasi6c very commonly used in Africa and Asia with very encouraging results (there has been no resurgence of the epidemic in Africa or Asia), but also aromatherapy, herbal medicine and homeopathy can fight infec6on and relieve the symptoms. All these treatments should be prescribed by a doctor depending on the individual case of course, the symptoms and any precau6ons for use.

In conclusion, we insist that the aJending physician must be returned to the centre of the decision-making process, the keystone of all health care op6ons.

We request that real early treatment protocols be set up, whether for disease preven6on targe6ng the en6re popula6on or for the treatment of pa6ents, the duty of any 21st century doctor.

This is certainly the best solu6on to enable earlier liMing of the lockdown. If we set these protocols up without delay, we will surely be able to celebrate the holidays with joy, in the pleasure of gathering together with the love of those close to us and less anxiety about public health. It could also give us hope that the epidemic will finally be over in 2021.

For two months now, one draconian decision has followed another and yet the number of pa6ents con6nues to rise. We have reportedly exceeded 40,000 deaths, i.e. 4 6mes more than in Germany. It is 6me to acknowledge that the current strategy imposed by our health minister is taking us nowhere.

If you agree with these proposals, if you would like to follow us down this other path, if you think this FOURTH WAY makes the most sense, then join us! Whether you are a medical prac66oner or a pa6ent, sign our manifesto, subscribe to our collec6ve, demand that real treatments be offered to the popula6on. This is the only way to relieve the pressure on our intensive care units and ensure that all pa6ents will be effec6vely managed without any difference in age or region. It is no longer acceptable for the elderly to be sedated with Clonazepam because there is no room in the ICU. This is why it is all the more cri6cal and urgent for all paPents to receive early treatment and to choose this fourth way!

France has a widespread and diversified medical fabric. We benefit enormously from this medical diversity. French pa6ents s6ll have the freedom to choose their doctor and must therefore receive the care they need, the care they feel is most appropriate for their individual case.

Ask your doctor or your pharmacist for advice and take your healthcare into your own hands!
